My husband and I ordered the filet mignon and it was dry and they don't serve milk for children. Ambiance was alright, just not what I imagined when I read their website. That morning we added one more person ( that made a total of 5 ). They asked if we could push our reservation back 30 minutes for a bigger booth ( holds 8 people). We said sure than we get there all the booths are the same and the hold 4 people very comfortably. But 5 adults made it a little tight. One person in our group had stuff mushrooms and they liked it another person had chicken and it was fine the other person had fish and it was alright but felt they have had better. I won't go back and it just depends on each individual. Just very disappointed but my husband and I were VERY clear about wanting a little blood and the waitress kept saying,"well done" and we said, no. Glad we tried it but again for us we will not go back not even if someone treats us. $300.00 bill with tip. Not worth it! My family and I went to the Enchanted Forest. It was fun. The service was excellent and the ambiance with live music was great fun. We had the full service fondue and it was just ok. Our "river lights" in our table didn't work so that was disappointing. Very hard to see the menus, we used our phones to read. In the website pictures they show very fancy fairies for the waitresses. You don't get that. They just had antlers and lights on their head. However they did provide fun light wreaths for us to wear and take home. It was a fun evening. Very difficult to eat here. The fondue for two was not sufficient and misleading as it stated 4 sauces but in reality was condiments and 1 watery broth. Also we waited for over 20min for our broth to heat to cook our meats. Electricity was not working which we could understand but service was not accommodating or professional. They did not offer anything while we waited for our meal to heat or comp any of our food until we asked. They also had many things not available on the menu and waitress was not knowledgeable about what was available or wine list. Waitress was forgetful and did not bring us skewers until we asked. I had the most fun with my husband last night! I made reservations at the Enchanted Forrest in Placerville because I learned they had fondue there. When we got there, it was very themed. Kind of reminded me of the Rainforest cafe. We walked in and a table of four dudes wearing lighted fairy garlands on their heads is the first thing I see. Then the hostess with purple hair. I am thinking, oh great, my husband should love this place. I look back to see his unamused face. The evening unfolds with a sweet jovial waiter who was over doing it a bit. I am thinking, well this is one for the books. At one point I tell my husband to ask his inner fairy what he wanted to eat... The look on his face was pricelessas he tried not to laugh. Then a group of four morbidly obese people come in and start griping at the staff because they aren't seated fast enough and demanding appetizers. Oh- if there is one thing that will piss my hubs off more, it's bitching at the wait staff. He grew up in the restaurant business. Now we are amused. The first course of fondue is done and it was amazing. Now a neurotic woman is sitting next to us being overly demanding to the wait staff. She actually got up and helped herself to plates. Now I am about to wing a piece of chicken at her head. My hubs overheard the waiter talking about the giants. Funny how sports teams can bring people together. The main course had filet minion, shrimp, chicken and meat balls. It was out of this world good! We stuffed the desert tray down as it was so good as well. The overall experience was a lot of fun. Came here for a bit of a late lunch yesterday. We were drawn in my the cute decor and the fact that they had mead. We were seated outside right away, and they were up front about the fact that we couldn't order fondue at our table. Too bad, but totally fine. We had been visiting Apple Hill so were looking for something tasty and savory. I got the beet caprese and a glass of dragon fruit mead, my friend got the Pork and Pear pizza with goat cheese subbed for the blue cheese. We were seated just after another party of two, and ordered just after them. However, our food took more than 30 minutes longer than theirs -- we literally waited 50 minutes for our food. No apology, no explanation. When the food did come out, my "salad" was three thin slices of beet, three thin slices of mozzarella, a few pieces of fennel, and balsamic drizzle. My friend's pizza was missing the figs that were listed as being a party of it on the menu. At that point, were were both starving so scarfed the food down because we didn't want to wait longer. My guess is that they made my friend's pizza incorrectly the first time, accounting for the delay. However, in that case, we really should have been given an explanation or apology, offered something to eat while we waited, or had some portion comped. It just doesn't sit right that I essentially paid $2 each for some thin slices of beet and mozzarella and then waited an hour to eat them. read more

The Enchanted Forest was fantastic. I booked a reservation for lunch this past Saturday for my boyfriend's birthday as a surprise. This place came as a suggestion from a friend. My BF loves LOTR and is from England, so this place had a special feel that I knew he would love. I even picked out an outfit for him of solid neutral colors in linen, as well as myself. I had originally booked a table in the middle of the restaurant as we had 3 people for lunch and this was the option on OpenTable. When we got there, we asked if we could switch to a booth. Originally they said no because they had reservations which was of course totally fine. But, the host ended up coming to us a few minutes later saying a reservation had cancelled, and that we could move into a booth. This was very nice that he did this for us. Our server was fantastic. I'm sad I didn't get her name. My boyfriend had never had mead before, so she let him taste 2 different kinds. He ended up going with the cranberry (I believe) which was delicious. For food I ordered the Chicken Caprese which was very good, BF ordered the Braised Beef Short Ribs which was absolutely delicious and a very good portion (I would order this if I came back) and mother in law ordered the Hobbit Salad with a few modifications which she enjoyed. At the end we ordered the key lime blackberry pie which was absolutely delicious, made in house! The atmosphere was a 10/10. It felt magical being in the restaurant and even though it was 1:00pm, the ambience made it feel at night. I'm so happy to say this restaurant has been such a great and fun experience each time with personal service and great entertainment!! The owner is so sweet and was able to accommodate us with great service and our waitress Buffy was so friendly and helpful as well. She humored us with calling soda "pop" and the food was so good! We had chocolate fondue for our group and flights of mead with beer and a live Irish band. Made even better with the nature views and fun decor. The tavern vibe and lanterns are so cozy and I brought some friends who got "crowned" with fun fairy lights. This place is a vibe, the staff is amazing and the musicians were great. I wanted to like this place so badly but unfortunately we didn't have the best experience. I found this place while browsing my newsfeed one day on Facebook. I decided to make reservations for my daughters 3rd birthday since I thought she would love the magical experience that this place seemed to have. I made reservations for a party of 4 for 5pm on a Saturday night. I asked to be seated inside since it looked like so much fun with the magical decor, sparkling lights, and tables that looked like they had rivers flowing down the middle. When we arrived I was told that the only option for us was to eat outside as they were unable to accommodate us inside. We drove an hour from Sacramento just to go here so going somewhere else wasn't exactly an option, especially when you have two hungry children in tow. Since we had no other option we sat outside. I was very disappointed that we would not get to experience eating inside which is the whole reason I made reservations to eat here. It was very loud from the street traffic and there were many flies flying around our food so that really dampened the experience. Our saving grace for dinner was our wonderful server. She was very kind and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. She was prompt and quickly brought out each course when we were ready for the next. The food was pretty good. We got the four course fondue meal and it was a fun experience. There is a two person minimum but our service told us there was a lot of food. We asked if our daughters could share the meal with us and she said that would be no problem. There was plenty of food to go around with the exception of the main course. I'm sure we could have ordered more protein if we wanted to. I did ask for extra chocolate for dessert since kids love chocolate! They do not skimp of the dippers for the chocolate fondue. Don't let the enchanting atmosphere and upscale menu prices fool you.Every aspect of our Enchanting Forest experience left so much to be desired. Once we were finally sat at our table, the sweating started before we could make our drink order. -It felt like we were dining in an UN-chanted rainforest.It was so dark in our booth, we needed to use our flashlights on our phones to see the menu. Our server came to take our drink orders, but when the drinks finally arrived, we realized one of our sodas was incorrect. We waited quite a while for our server to come back so we could get the incorrect soda changed. My niece had received Dr. Pepper instead of Root beer. The server was surprised and confused. She stated she used the right fountain dispenser, but took forever to just correct the soda. As well, my son's Ice tea tasted like it was straight out of an Arizona can. Definitely not your typical in-house brewed ice tea. My mom asked the server questions about the fondue, and we decided we would order fondue for 4 people, because we all were anxious to try it. We asked our server if we could substitute some of the veggies for more bread instead, since we weren't a fan of veggies for fondue.The kids ordered a large cheese pizza, personal pizzas for the guys, salads for my sister and I, and my mom ordered the "Forest and Sea."Fondue?  FonDON'T. This by far, was the biggest let down.The server brought out the bowl and placed it on the warmer. It wasn't melted, but maybe thats just the way it comes out? We stirred the fondue as our server instructed, and waited for it to melt. The pot was only about 1/4 full; for 4 people. The fondue is charged by each person, so paying $52 just for the fondue, I expected much more. The veggies looked like uncooked stir-fry, and the bread was one slice of bread, cut six ways, at best. When asked if we could have more bread, a tiny bowl was brought with literally 5 pieces. The cheese and liquid in the pot never did mix with each other, so basically it looked like a glob of melted cheese sitting in a mystery liquid. I asked the server if the fondue cheese was suppose to be a watery consistency. She then tried stirring it, and said that we had the warmer turned up too high.  We didn't know that we were supposed to adjust the warming plate temperature, as well as stir and melt our own cheese.  Our server didn't give any instructions, except to stir it. She was the one who set up the hot plate and put the bowl on it!  Our server had saw that our cheese had burned on the bottom, but never offered a replacement. By this time, I would have said no anyways. Whatever was in the fondue, it wasn't good. My son asked me if it had spoiled. Not one person thought it tasted right. It smelled so much like beer, it was difficult to eat. Well, we still had our other food coming that we could eat right? Wrong! Just as disappointing. What 7 and 8 year-old kids won't eat a cheese pizza? It's pizza! MY sister and I tried it, and it tasted exactly like what you would get at an amusement park concession stand. Frozen and cheap. The personal pizzas were exactly the same, except they add thetoppings. Definitely not worth $14 for the personal pizzas and $19 for the cheese pizza. I have had *frozen* microwave pizzas, that have tasted better. My moms filet was ordered medium rare, and it was cooked well done. At this point, I wasn't surprised. After we declined ordering desserts, we decided to leave and get dessert some where else. Our server brought our check, and I couldn't believe it was nearly $200. While waiting for the server to pick up our card, she got pre-occupied with petting a random dog that was laying in the middle of the walkway.  Usually service-dogs have something identifying them as a service animal.  I would really like to think that the dog half-asleep laying on the floor was a service dog, but...I'm guessing not. Thank god we were finished eating, because she went right back to serving, without washing her hands. Matter of fact, in the whole restaurant only the bartender had a face covering. Technically speaking not a mask, but at least his nose and mouth was covered. Too bad we didn't order anything from the bar.  It may have been incorrect, or had a dog hair in it, but at least we'd know it was prepared following state health guidelines.Not one server, hostess, or kitchen staff, which we could see from our table, was wearing masks, or any kind of face covering. None of the staff used gloves. There were dividers between the bar customers, but it seemed like all the tables were full in the restaurant.TO THE OWNERS: IF YOU LOOKED AT MY REVIEWS YOU WOULD SEE IVE GIVEN MANY POSITIVE REVIEWS. Cute and "enchanting" (pardon the pun) place to eat and drink. With the lavish forest themed decor, you couldn't really see the COVID 19 barriers throughout the restaurant but they were there. All staff wore face mask while keeping in costume &theme of the restaurant. I highly recommend the mead!!!!!! If you're a first timer like myself , I suggest the sampler. You get 5, 5oz samples and those alone are enough. We and the filet mignon...cooked tonprefcetion and for dessert (separate menu) the jack daniels pecan pie....to die for!. Second course cold shredded cheese, waiter comes over after 5 mins and sloshes some wine in and drops off what looks like a Costco veggie tray. Celery with cheese? Whatever, it's cheese, 20 minutes later it's melted enough to be edible, fine. Third course is basically hot pot, except the broth is like unsalted tomato water. The lack of salt or any flavor other than tomato made the meat taste bad. I ate the shrimp and baby carrots and waited for dessert to save me. After seeing this place on Facebook Ad, We were excited to try this place out. I booked a 5:15pm reservation for my daughter's birthday. We got there 15 minutes before our reservation and they accommodated us right away. The ambience and decor was unique and interesting. Well, thats about it for the good part. After 15 minutes sitting and putting in our order our appetizers came then after that we waited for 1hr 30 minutes for our orders to come. nobody even came to our table to explain why our food was taking so long...... before I was about to ask our server, our food came. I thought waiting for 1hr and 30 minutes that we would have an amazing meal but it turned out that the food was bland and tasteless. The steak was chewier than an old piece of gum. my 3 year old boy that loves steak didn't even like the food. I am 13 years old and writing my first review ever. I'm doing this because the owner (Kaitlyn k) lies and is an online bully. She wrote in a comment that I cried in embarrassment because of my mom. That's not true. I was crying because I picked this restaurant and it was the worst and I felt like I let my mom down on her birthday. They were so mean and rude to her and now bullying her on Yelp after she wrote an honest review. I feel like Kaitlyn k should apologize to my mom and stop being a bully. She reminds me of this girl I know in school who is mean but the owner is much older. Kaitlyn k also lied about the lobster. I ordered the lobster but she said my mom did. Lobster is my favorite. I had extremely high hopes and was very excited to visit this place for the first time. I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant experience. I will say that I have been a restaurant manager for almost 10 years. I have never spat out food from a restaurant before. It was my husband and I's first time going here and we will not be back. We sat at the bar, nearest to the kitchen entrance. One of the staff informed us that bartender was late to their shift, but neither of the 2 servers in the restaurant offered us waters or something to drink in the meantime. There was a gentleman, who appeared to be the manager, who was the only employee working hard. However, no amount of hard work could possibly make up for the extremely poor food quality and overall dining experience. The food was outrageously overpriced for the quality we received. The mashed potatoes were bland and tasteless, not even salt was detected. The green beans were overcooked and mushy, the carrots were hard and undercooked. The salmon I received was grey on the underside and mushy. My husband took one bite of the salmon and spat it back out into the napkin. He ordered scallops and spat a piece out that was hard and showed it was not cleaned properly before cooking. The rest of the scallops were rubbery and overcooked. One of the cooks who was walking in and out of the kitchen, was wearing flip flops while working. This is an actual health code violation and a safety risk. We paid $120 for our meal, 18% tip included. We only tipped because we both have worked in the restaurant industry for a long time. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Edit: This is in response to the owners comment on this review. As stated in my review, I am currently working in the restaurant industry as a manager. Therefore, I am extremely aware of the staffing issues faced by the industry today. However, there were at least 4 kitchen staff members and 4 dining room staff members that I encountered last week on my visit. With a total of 5 tables seated in the restaurant over the course of an hour and a half, short staffing was not the root cause of the issues I experienced. The food quality itself was unacceptable, especially for the prices that the restaurant charges. Bland and tasteless food is not excusable by short staffing. I hope that this restaurant is able to succeed but the food itself needs to be greatly improved upon. My teenage daughter saved her money for 3 months to take me to this place for my birthday. We had a party of 5 and seated at a small table meant for 4. It was extremely hot in there. Ohmigod...so ..the lady (I'm assuming the owner) dressed in costume thinks she comes to help by reading the menu to us. Look lady...I can read...and did read the menu. Your waitress basically told us you don't serve anything on your own menu. After the raw meat and shrimp were basically thrown at us (and a hot boiling bowl of water on the burner) I was ready to leave. I tried staying patient. Sweat dripping off all of my family members...my glass of wine (that was recommended by waitress) was served to me with her fingers on the top of the glass were my lips would go. Omg...yuck. My entire family hollered for the check. We couldn't get out fast enough. 5 minutes after leaving, we ran into a family with 2 kids who told us their experience. Pretty much identical to our own. My teenage daughter, my sweet baby...she knew I'd been looking forward to this restaurant since opening. She was in tears thinking it was her fault my birthday dinner sucked. In fact, we talked to a young couple who was just at Enchanted Forest and they explained how they had a beer and left and how disappointing it was. This is a fun place with a beautiful scene, friendly staff and most important of all. Good fresh food. We had the mead sampler. It was very good! ( might have had something to do with the fact that I haven't had alcohol in over a year). I had the chicken Capresse, chicken was perfectly done and very tasty. My wife had the egg plant lasagna, my friend had the hummus wrap. We finished it off with a triple chocolate desert. This was all well executed and very tasty. Arrived at 5:28pm for a 5:30 reservation for 6 people, including 4 small kids. Was promptly seated and that is where the promptness stopped. We sat until 5:45 without being acknowledged, so got up and asked a server for at least some menus, which was met with a response of they don't have any available at the moment. Five minutes later our server appeared and I shared my frustration with sitting for 20 minutes without being acknowledged and apologized took our order and said she would put our order in right away. She also brought us complimentary soup as the kids were complaining they were hungry. Another 30 minutes go by and nothing. Then she brought out the kid's fruit cups. Why would it ever take so long to bring some pre prepared fruit! Still waiting for the rest of the food the server brought out some more complimentary food, this time some Brie cheese. It would be another 30 minutes until food came, 1 hour and 20 minutes from when we first sat down. The food does not justify the prices. The kids meals are $25 for a small cup of fruit, a grilled cheese sandwich that is super basic bread with shredded cheese (no sides) or stick of chicken and then a small plate of items to dip in chocolate for dessert. We also ordered a green goddess salad which was tasty and a lobster dish that was $70 and nothing special, definitely not worth the price. Absolutely mystical and magical, it feels like you've walked into an Elvan town in Lord of the Rings. All of the staff are such joyful, kind people! I'm very impressed by their variety of mead and other drinks. I've tried their pizza and salad and thoroughly enjoyed both. Fresh, delicious food. Great restaurant with an awesome atmosphere! A lot of options for different dietary needs. I've tried quite a few of the vegan/vegetarian options and most are great! I'd say the only thing maybe not worth it is the vegetarian fondue. The dessert course was great, but the "meat" course was honestly pretty bad. None of the options were great besides the ground beyond meat, but that and the tofu just completely fell apart when put in the fondue pot so it just didn't really work. We will definitely be back for the other options though! read more

Really neat spot for a date night. There were great options for my spouse who eats meat and someone like me who doesn't. Even though we were happy with our order, there were a lot of other things in the menu we would definitely would have liked to try. My husband had originally picked something from the menu that the server said was not good so he changed it. Although we appreciate the heads up, maybe just remove it from the menu? Drinks are priced right! Definitely, a great spot. Withheld a star because it did not blew our mind; there is a lot of potential though, this place can be top notch with a bit more effort. read more

I went to the Enchanted Forest tonight with some friends and the food was terrible but the company was great. The place was so dark we had to use our phones to see the menu and the table was not clean. Will not go there again. read more
