I don't know why but it seems like the food quality has improved immensely over, say, the past couple of months. We always order the soup at lunch because the soup is always very tasty. Recently we had salmon. It was cooked (not over-cooked) to the correct temp and tasted fantastically. I only wish I had ordered another piece! The activities, food and care/ nursing staff are top notch! They made the transition from moving my dad in Bellevue to Aegis of Ravenna so comfortable. I honestly consider the staff as well as many if the residents to be part of my family. I've shared many tears of joy as well as tears of sadness that come along with Alzheimer's. Regardless of the circumstances someone is ALWAYS there for help and support. As we all know one can't put a price on love,understanding and compassion. The facilities are also beautiful and so well thought out. Nothing was missed when it comes to attention of detail. Most importantly I know my dad is in the best care possible and will live out his remaining days surrounded by love, true love. At Ida Culver you will be surprised to find a warm, welcoming place behind the serious facade on NE 65th. The majority of the facility is older with big picture windows facing either a meditation garden or a beautiful, large sunny garden. This won't fill your needs if you're looking for brand new, McMansion type living. But if you are looking for wonderful spaces, bright and cheerful views, top notch staff with absolutely great communication, you have found the right place for your loved one(s). Soon after our Mom moved into Ida Culver, her health started to decline. The staff of Ida Culver was right on top of it, communicating to us what we didn't always see on our regular visits. Not only was the staff great, the other residents looked after Mom, and communicated to the staff when there was a problem. They were with us in dealing with hospitalization, were with us in dealing with the hospital regarding her care, and were with us for the short term of skilled nursing in order to gain strength. Our Mom will be transitioning to full assisted living, and the nursing staff has been wonderful concerning planning, communicating, and meeting with us. Bravo Ida Culver. It's wonderful to find a place that truly cares about their residents and 100% advocates for the best care possible. They have made this difficult journey that much easier.

She explained the pathophysiology of each of the exercises she recommended, which helped me perform the exercises with correct positioning, breathing, and posture. She really cared about setting me up with both a home and work exercise regimen so that I could work on both preventative care at home as well as treatment of pain as it would arise in the work setting. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable about the body, her bedside manner is wonderful. I felt immediately at ease as she helped me identify the source of my pain and ensured that I felt competent and comfortable with the exercises she assigned me to relieve the pain. One session with her and I had amazing results and didn't need to go back for additional sessions. She kept herself available to me in the following weeks, checking up regularly to make sure I was still pain-free and offering encouragement and kindness throughout my pregnancy. I also have to add that my sciatica pain crisis came in between Christmas and New Years and that I had a terrible time making an appointment elsewhere because of the busy holiday season. I am SO glad that I stumbled across her Yelp page and reached out because she answered back immediately and accommodated me into her busy schedule because she didn't want me to suffer until normal business hours resumed in the New Year. She really puts her patients first. She has a fun energy, is extremely patient, and overall a wonderful human being. I am so thankful to her!

I was very conscientious at my job there: I was always on time and provided a substitute if I was unable to be there. I conducted a music class that was stimulating and friendly and enjoyed by residents and often their family members and even staff. I got along well with staff members and gave books as presents to one or two of them. I did not raise my rates, which were lower than I charge other assisted living centers, over the many years of my employment. Despite the high quality and integrity of my work, I was not paid for 3 months at the beginning of this year. After making many efforts to contact management at Emerald City Senior Living in various ways, I was forced to file an Inquiry into the Seattle Labor Standards Department. This resulted in my receiving my back pay, still with no acknowledgement or apology from management. Soon after in May 2024, I was terminated, or, simply not called to work again at Emerald City Senior Living. This happened with the same passive aggressive manner from the Senior Living Center which I experienced when I tried to collect my back wages. The conduct of management at Emerald City Senior Living is completely unethical.

She is the first functional medicine doctor that I have seen and my experience so far have been very, very positive. While I've been interested in trying functional medicine for a while, it could seem a bit complicated in some ways and there are many directions and things one could try for various reasons. Thankfully, Dr. Leary-Chang is an exceptional communicator. She takes the time that is needed to clearly explain things, as well as being a careful (and empathetic) listener (I feel that she has a very clear understanding of my health situation and ANY key factors that could be playing a role). So, she talked with me to develop some priorities and sketch some realistic cost/benefit analyses for each plan of action. In other words, I felt informed but never pressured in the slightest to pursue any plan (for example, if I might be unsure about something, or something may not be financially comfortable/feasible at the time). Again, those types of factors are things she has taken into account when working with me. I wanted to wait until I had a few months on a stable regiment (and to have more time working with her and the clinic) before reviewing, and thankfully, everything has been positive so far. I have noticed clear positive changes in my health (visible and objective - i.e., not just that I 'feel' better, which I do, but I wanted some 'data' (as much as a single patient could note)) and I am looking forward to further progress. (I will update this review in a few months if anything changes that could be relevant.) Additional notes: * The nurses that I've encountered there have all been fantastic as well (friendly, smart and efficient). * Response times to messages sent in the e-portal have been great. * (I can't say anything about the other services Vida offers as I have only worked with Dr. Leary-Chang at this point.)

But for us, we like his cut-to-the-chase, no-nonsense style. Believe us, we have had a different property manager before, and he may seem courteous, but his responsiveness and professionalism are not even close to David's.

He'd always tell folks that came to tour that it was "5 star service and treatment!" He felt like royalty. I toured other places but I could "feel" the care & comfort that Alpine would provide. It was also less expensive & better than other adult family homes. It was an easy choice. I knew when I walked in when trying to decide where he would likely spend the last days, I could "feel" that this was "it." Very clean, pleasant & beautiful. Every room provided privacy & comfort. The grounds are lovely with attention & care to the landscaping & seasonal container gardening; very well-maintained. A large deck out front & gazebo in back that my brother truly enjoyed on sunny days was a big plus. He was hospitalized well over 100 days prior & wasn't able to "go out." Heather & Daniel, the owners, are both nurses with experience in adult family care. She was a director for decades & knows the ins & outs of what is needed for all situations for folks needing 24 hour care. Although my brother was only 68, they had a few tenants over 100 years old! Amazing to say the least. Heather scrutinized the prescriptions that kept changing and was "on it" when he finally needed to go back to the hospital. I'd hate to think what may have happened if it were not for her attention to his condition & needs. Alpine has a full staff of nurses that live in residence separated from the main floor so we felt assured that of my brother needed anything, anytime it was provided. Tony & Nova, the main nurses were so sweet & kind. They prepared meals & cared for my brother with absolute love & respect. They even made his recipe for spaghetti!
