Prior to working out at Bulates, I did privates with an instructor who had a reformer at her house. I went religiously three times a week for years, never realizing that my positions were wrong, never really properly stretching and there wasn't the same attention to form. I still loved it and got a lot of benefit, but not like now. Not only are the instructors here extremely well trained, but they keep things interesting and new by changing it up constantly. This also encourages your body to use muscles you didn't even realize you had! There's more emphasis on your core, every single muscle group, flexibility and balance. It sounds corny, but I feel like I've really gotten to know and strengthen my body. And I used to do MMA and taekwondo, and still didn't achieve the overall strength that I have now. Finally, because I have gotten so much benefit, I got my 78 year old Dad into it. After one class he absolutely fell in love with Pilates. If you've got an old injury that you're trying to heal from, if you're currently going to physical therapy, talk to your doctor and consider adding Pilates. The instructors here will take excellent care of you and build you back up carefully and skillfully.

After all, I was used to doing pilates, yoga, and going on walks several times a week, and I knew how much work it took to get results. However, I've had back problems and injuries for years, so I'm always open to trying new workouts to see if they can improve how I feel. My trainer, Kathryn, is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She is funny and conversational, and just a total sweetheart. She explains that it is the quality, not quantity of a workout that is the most important; the weight-training exercises, done correctly, will bring you to "failure" very quickly, and then you work in that tough spot, until you can no longer do it. That is why Slow Form works, and why you don't do it very often. I'm the most fit looking, and the strongest, I've ever been. I love knowing that my workouts are efficient, and how my trainer tracks my progress to make sure I am improving from week to week. My back never hurts from these workouts. Seeing Kathryn every week is so great, and the ocean view doesn't hurt either.

It looked like fluffy dogs had been the participants of the class before the one I took - there was hair everywhere! From the straps to the jump board to the floor and in the middle of the reformer. I was given an additional comp class to try the studio out which they said was "regularly cleaned." At my next visit it wasn't as bad yet there was still much more hair than I would like- which is virtually none (I prefer not to lay in someone else hair while I'm working out and getting sweaty) Several months pass and I get a call from someone at the studio inviting me for another class. Unfortunately, I missed the class YET I received an email stating I get a do-over* literally a whole email like BUMMER you missed the class- not to worry you get a do-over. When I responded to the email to schedule my do-over I was then told I had received "too many comp classes," AFTER THEY INITIALLY REACHED OUT TO ME. It's a tiny studio and honestly not ran properly, they can't even keep track of their marketing and promotional efforts! Don't waste your time! Try STRNG Pilates down the street, they are cleaner and the staff is wayyyyyy NICER than the staff at Wunda Westlake so disappointing it's a cute space in a really good location and has potential just needs better management!

He greeted and small talk people he seemed to know but not much talk about the form for the class - not just me - the instruction "just watch the person before you" is NOT a professional fitness instructor .. the class was ok.. no stretching at the end, (!!!) just lie down on the floor and "relax" for 5 min. (Muscle spams and cramps await). The class is 45 min btw (somehow I thought it would be 60 min .) I have been in average gyms, upscale gyms but this was below average. The gym doesn't have lockers, only two showers/restrooms - not sure how this works when more people want to change in busy hours ... the rest of the gym is fine - outside and inside equipment ...

From someone rehabbing back from an ACL knee injury, she has been a gem throughout that process helping me focus on my weaknesses. She has an incredible eye for detail and truly understand how the body moves. Every session feels intentional and personalized, with clear cues and small corrections that make a huge difference. I've built strength in muscles I didn't even know I wasn't using, and my posture, flexibility, and core stability have improved more than I expected. What really stands out is how supported and motivated I feel during each workout. She balances encouragement with just the right level of challenge, and their knowledge of anatomy makes every session feel safe and effective. I booked the class through ClassPass, and in nowhere it says I HAVE to be 15 minutes early to the…read moreclass or otherwise I won't be let in the class. However, when I arrive there ON time, the front desk refused to let me in the class. I didn't get an email or any prior notice saying that they won't let me in if I don't arrive early. They also refused to return my ClassPass credit. If it's your policy, you should make it very clear that if someone is not 15 minutes early, they won't be let in. I'll make sure I never go back to this entitled place. Edit after owner's response: I'll just leave my review here for people's reference, and I'm not going to argue with you anymore. I just recommend you to change the language in "How to prepare" section to something like "you must arrive 15 minutes early or you will not be admitted to class" if you intend to enforce the policy because the language you have right now simply sounds a recommendation, not a rule. Good luck to your business.
