I have been going to the compound for personal training for 8 months and I couldn't be happier. I have lost a lot of weight on Ozempic and my doctor told me that I needed to start doing strength training now that I lost so much weight. When I told him that going back to the gym was a bit intimidating for me he recommended Paul and his gym. Paul has been supportive and understanding. For years I tried unsuccessfully to lose the weight that crept up on me after menopause. I went from being fit and slim, to putting on a 45% increase over a decade. I tried valiantly to lose weight - one notable effort included a very strict diet which required measuring/weighing food PLUS CrossFit 5 days per week. My husband decided to do the same diet and exercise regimen to support me - after 4 months, he lost 20lbs. I lost 4lbs. I was like, "I'd rather stay fat than live like this and lose only a few pounds"...and I quit. Another effort included a 5-day water fast each month for over 6 months. I walked and swam for exercise almost daily. I finally decided to just accept that I was now a "bigger" version of myself...but then my metabolic health started to suffer (eg. cholesterol and blood sugar) and I had to do something. I decided after some consideration to go on a GLP-1. One of my doctors said, "If you're going on a GLP-1 you'll need to do weight training and eat a high-protein diet to make sure you don't lose muscle mass. Why don't you start doing that first to make sure you can healthfully use a GLP-1." So I started looking at gyms in the Valley and decided to meet with Paul at the Compound. The gym has a pleasant vibe to it - everyone is nice and respectful. I would say it's a friendly, supportive environment for both men and women. Well-equipped with quality equipment. Clean and secure. I felt happy walking in...I knew this was the right place. I was feeling pretty low, pretty hopeless...but figured, "Why not?" We agreed to train three times per week for one hour, then 30 minutes of cardio on the off days. He gave me an easy, reasonable diet plan to follow, which included 3 meals a day (and bread, something I have avoided in the post-menopause years as much as possible). The results? In 4 weeks I have lost 9lbs! More notably, I have lost 4" on my waist, 3" on my chest and hips, 2" on my thighs. Everyone in my life is stunned. Needless to say, I don't need the GLP-1. Whatever secret sauce Paul is serving up at the Compound seems to be working well for me. About Paul - he's a lovely guy. Skilled. Knowledgeable. Respectful. Kind. Fun to talk to. Punctual. Motivating. Encouraging. Everyone I have met who works with him seems to admire him greatly, using terms like "rockstar" to refer to him. He is invested in my success, and the numerous before/after pictures on his website show concrete evidence of his commitment to his clients. He gets results. My boyfriend bought me five weeks of personal training with Paul for Christmas. I'm on my fourth week and I'm seeing quick results. Bought a 10-pack (smallest quantity I was told could be sold) for personal training with Will. Every workout was 10/10 and help keep me maintain my fitness /activity while going through a busy move and life events . Will was able to listen and care about my goals and desires with person trainings. Workouts were varied and fun. I also benefites from learning a lot of new variations to better incorporate in my workouts to be more effective. The gym itself is clean and organized. Purified cold water dispenser is available. Shower and towel service also provided if needed but I never used it. Parking can be a bit cramped but they help you sort out a spot if it is. read more

Ok...so when I say Paul changed my life and I am forever grateful...it's the biggest understatement I think I've ever said. I was referred to Paul about 2 years ago from a very good friend of mine that saw I needed help to get back into shape, but mostly get back to my usual happy, energetic, happy (I said it again) self. So, my friend connected us and we had a short conversation over the phone, basically to setup a meeting in person just to talk. That was new, because I had worked out with other Trainers, and you basically go in and sign some papers and start working out. Paul wanted to make sure it was a fit for both of us. This was new to me. For some reason, I started feeling nervous like I was going to an interview, but I really wanted to get in shape, so we setup the meeting. (Btw...Knowing Paul for 2 years, I can tell you his intention was never to make me feel nervous, he literally just wanted the two of us to meet to say hi) I met him up on a Saturday. The Compound has two-way mirrors and I couldn't see in. So when I got to the door, before I could knock, the door opens and Paul is there with a big smile. He asked me some questions about why I wanted to workout, be healthier, etc. I quickly realized that it wasn't an interview. He was just trying, like I said before, to have a chat. Fast forward to the present, I'm down 60 lbs, best shape of my life at the age of 45. I workout with Paul 3 days a week, and do my best to get in there an extra day a week. The energy in the gym is something like I've never personally experienced. It's perfectly setup, clean, and everyone is so great with each other. You'll see other great trainers in there with their Clients, and some others that are just working out on their own. Everyone keeps to themselves unless you build up friendly connections like I have. Back to Paul though. For a guy that looks like he's been in action movies, he's one of the most respectful, kindest, cool people I've ever met in my life...and I know a lot of people. I do NOT like working out, BUT I am now addicted to the feeling after I finish a workout or the dread I feel if I miss a workout (that's the worst). I'm not going to tell Paul's story on a review. After trying various diets and trainers, I was referred to Paul and The Compound from a family member who benefitted from training with him. With Paul's assistance, I have lost 120 lbs in 10 months. Paul is very passionate about his clients and seeing them reach their goal. He makes himself available outside of training sessions if you have any questions. I've been training here for 12 weeks with Paul, the owner. I have been to every gym in LA it feels like and had different trainers at most of them. Paul, and The Compound, feels like the intersection of perfection. He's kind, attentive, on time, and most of all, he's invested in you feeling your best. He doesn't phone it in. It's a privately owned gym so it's not huge, but has EVERYTHING you would need for a great workout. I don't train with Paul, but he's always warm and welcoming when I come in to work out. It's never packed, and everyone is polite. No influencer culture going on here which is amazing since this is a company town. Gym is immaculate and everything is always in tip top shape. Man I truly feel like I can't write enough about this gym, wether it's from the equipment always being spotless and ready, to the Love from all the staff and the owner, this truly has been the place I have been calling home for the past year. They have great trainers ready to make full body transformations and the environment itself is amazing. Security and privacy is a big deal for me and this gym has it covered, You get a key fob once you join and it truly keeps this place private, safe, and clean. WORST AND MOST UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A TRAINER! CREEPY, FLAKY, IRRESPONSIBLE, IMMATURE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! To say the least. I decided to train with Paul in order to get back into training and have a trainer hold me accountable and keep me motivated. After signing up, Paul became creepy, making comments about his dating life to me, calling me his wife in front of another client, texting me that a photo I showed him of my ideal body type was "very hot" (keep in mind I am a 23 year girl). He then became very touchy during the workouts and I tried to set a boundary by asking him to refrain from touching me and he could tell me what workouts to do without touching me the entire time. He got defensive and uncomfortable then the very next workout, he cancelled on me 30 minutes before while I was on my way at 6:30am on a Saturday morning. The following session he continued to be touchy and I had to make another comment. He then proceeded to send me a voice memo telling me that he's uncomfortable and has never in his career been told not to touch a client. When I called him to speak about it he never apologized a single time and gaslighted me into apologizing to him- then told me he'd refund me for my remaining sessions instead of accommodating his "training style". He then proceeded to not send me my refund and after reaching out to him 3 times in a professional, kind manner, he told me he's had a bad experience with me, to back off, that I'm disturbing to speak to and hung up on me. The immaturity and blatant disrespect I've received from this grown man is appalling. SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE. read more
