My basement. After Empire Plumbing left n I cleaned
    Sovy M.

Well $600.00 later my main blockage was cleared. My folks were flushing baby wipes down the drain. Shaking my head emoji ‍right, I don't know why. Anyhow got a call on a holiday. Googled them, these guys link came up, called them. They took my call, they came in right an hour later. Cleared up the main house backed up hole right away. I cleaned the rest of the **** myself. Desanitized the whole basement myself. Yeah the best cleaning woman ME.

    Leak from garage ceiling
    splash D.

I was out of state when water was dripping from the garage ceiling at the house in Loudonville, so I called Empire State pluming because of all the good reviews. They sent Victor to the property. Victor was fast and courteous. He communicated clearly on the phone and sent me pictures. However, the whole experience was like getting trapped and sinking as the charges mounted. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had been severely over charged. I will state what happened with pictures. Tell me what you think. 1) $89 dispatch fee, not sure if all plumbers charge that 2) Upon inspection the leak (photo 1), Victor said the leak was from the first floor bathroom water pipe and he needs to open the wall. $158 just to open the wall, I thought that wasn't too bad so I agreed. 3) before opening the wall, Victor said he smelled gas in the garage and it will be $99.99 to perform gas leak diagnose. Even though nobody had smelled gas in the garage, I thought it'd be serious and agreed to go ahead. Then he told me he used soap water found gas leak on an old gas pipe (see photo 2). Fear the severity of a gas, I asked him to fix it. In a couple of minutes, he was done and that was another $113.75. Do you think that gas leak was legit? 3) then Victor opened a small piece of wall in the first floor bedroom. He sent me picture (photo 3), then said that the leak was actually from the second floor bathroom 4) he went to second floor and opened another hole on the wall, then he said he needed to open the third hole (photo 4) just to reach the leaking pipe (photo 5) 5) the pipe joints are new as the bathroom was newly remodeled. Victor explained why the joints could have been leaking if not done correctly then he said fixing the joints would be $318.75. I kept ask him why it would be so expensive, he said he already gave my discount, normally would be more than $400. I complained that it sounded very high, he said that it would take an hour to replace that, labor is high. I thought of getting someone else there, or at least get a price comparison, but since I need to get the leak (water was dripping) fixed ASAP, I reluctantly agreed. In about 20 minutes, he was done (see photo 6). I said this didn't take as much time as he stated and he shouldn't have charged me over three hundred dollars. He said he also needed time to clean up. I didn't know cleaning up can be so expensive. I was charged total of $841.85 (photo 7) for a water leak, left with three holes in the walls. What do you think?

When we started the project and were shopping around getting quotes, Caleb did a few things to stand out from the rest. 1) He was cuteous and on time (super easy to do, but not everyone we met checked this simple box) 2) He offered ideas and suggestions that we never would have come up with ourselves 3) He made it clear all his work would be up to code and that they don't skip steps 4) They did 90% of the work themselves (a team came for the carpets) 5) He quickly followed up with a clear digital quote with everthing spelled out so we could make adjustments where needed. We ended up paying slightly over estimate after learning we needed an extension for our electrical box. We didn't encounter many delays, I think the biggest was the first coat of paint. It didn't dry overnight, so that slowed down the next day. Throughout the build, they went above and beyond in a number of ways: - Seeding (and re-seeing), watering and even weeding the lawn - Caleb took us out to shop for slabs giving lots of great input and advice (and the kids got to play with some chickens at the site!). - They gave us detailed breakdowns of pros/cons when choosing all materials / vanitey / outlets / vents / etc (I would assume something like this was common, but after showing family the basement, we have heard how their contractors never gave any input or advice on any decisions). - They have their own dumpster for the materials but it was also extremely helpful to get rid of junk from our basement We have a list of things we plan to do in the future both inside and outside, and we are 100% going to Caleb. If he isn't available, we will wait until he is.

He is not only rude, he is less than honest in his dealing with people. He moved the tank to in front of the gate to my backyard, so I couldn't even use it, and when I told him not to put gas in it because I wanted it moved, he took the tank away. He gave me a snotty little face and wave as he left. Then his wife called me and told me I had $900 on account with them. I told her he took the tank, but he brought it back and put it in the same place, so I told him to move it or not put gas in it. I never got my $900 worth of gas. At first when I called about it, they said, "No, it was only $300 (something)." But that changed to nothing by the next time I called. He is rude and dishonest.

The home was built 7 years ago, and we bought it this…read moresummer, so I wasn't familiar with the furnace's history, but I called Apollo Heating because they were involved in the install when the house was originally built. We only moved in this summer, so I knew nothing of the home's or furnace's history. Apollo wanted to charge their normal price to send a maintenance guy out, mentioning that they had *never* been called out by the previous owner for any work on the furnace at all. I knew there was another place locally that had $50 off service calls and that the service call was free if they did any paid repair work, so I figured I'd try my luck with the cheaper route. Turns out you get what you pay for. The other company's "service expert" showed up later that day and told me the reason I wasn't getting any heat from the furnace, despite flashing "system OK" with the LEDs on the circuit board was because the circuit board had gone bad, telling me that that wasn't unusual. He also told me it was going to be $532.00 to repair, and that since they'd be able to order the part first thing next morning, he'd be able to get our heat on by Monday. (It was Thursday evening at this point.) That company wasn't available by phone, as it was after 4PM, but Apollo was. I figured I would call Apollo to see if they could give me a quote on the circuit board, in hopes that I could get our heat working Friday instead of Monday. Turns out that if I'd need them to, the technician could have come out for an after hours call *that evening*. I told the technician, Greg, what I was looking for a quote on, and he sounded very surprised. He started asking some very common sense questions, such as: "How did the technician deduce that it was the circuit board?" "Did he try testing with a different thermostat?" "Did he check your voltage level?" There were other common sense questions that showed me that Greg had a much better grasp of troubleshooting a furnace than the serviceman who'd told me he "knew enough to be dangerous", and was lamenting the poor guy he'd visited earlier who'd replaced one part, but found out he "also" had to replace a valve to get his hot water heater back up and running. Greg walked me through some troubleshooting that proved it wasn't the motherboard, and that he could do more by phone than the other company could do in person. Had I needed the circuit board, I could have gotten it that day. Had I needed Greg to come over that evening he could have. In my experience with Apollo and the competition, it became immediately clear why Apollo charges a fair price for their service calls, and why their competition is advertising "$50 off" and "Free Service Call with Paid Repair" offers. Trying to save a little almost cost me a lot. If you need a reputable, highly skilled engineer for heating issues or servicing, I'd highly recommend Apollo Heating. I can't guarantee they're all as good as Greg, but he's the kind of person I want when I need to reach out for help. He can explain things clearly and logically and definitely knows what he's talking about.
