See, the issue with this place is that they are probably the first for many to think of to take their good antiques because of store placement, but those people don't realize how terrible the management is. The customer service is absolutely terrible with having to wait on elderly folk which is not usually an issue but is when it involves forgetting certain keys, mispricing items then haggling again, and plain rudeness when even asking to look at things acting as if it's an inconvenience, and don't even get me started on how stingy, pretentious and wayy overpriced their products are! read more

The vibes in here are just OFF. The man working was not friendly at all, no hello, no smile, NOTHING. He was kind of just stomping around and fiddling with a guitar. I had picked up a doll to look at it and put it back the way I found but he immediately stomps over and just kinda aggressively rearranges it. We immediately left after that, no customer service at all. There are better antique shops around the area with more pleasant owners. read more

Absolutely the worst antique store I have ever been to. What I assume is the shop owner was sitting up on his chair loudly stringing his guitar and playing the most awful sounds from a guitar that I have ever heard. The building has a rotten musk to it, and when I attempted to snap a photo of something to send to my buddy, he RAN over and told me to get out as you cannot take photos. At this point, I was fuming because he charged at my girlfriend and I and said that we need to get out of his store. I was really confused but as is it his property, I obliged. Thankfully the customer is still king and can choose to spend their money elsewhere, which I did. ALL THE NUMEROUS "ONE STAR" REVIEWS TELL THE TURE STORY. Avoid this shop at all costs. What a cool shop!! Lots of different vendors with lots of different tastes! The building is really old which I think adds to its charm. It used to be a movie theatre and you can still see the old projection windows. I love the feeing that I've walked through a time machine. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I have been to this store 3 times and have never bought anything. Everything is so overpriced! I am a reseller of vintage and antiques also at an upscale vintage mall and online, and this place is higher than those prices. I will keep popping in hoping to find something for personal collection. Placerville Antiques a few doors down always gets my money because their prices are way more realistic. read more

I purchased this ancient coin two days ago only to find that they had covered up the fact that it is a copy. I have never seen an antique store do anything like this. Very disappointed. They actually covered the part that said "COPY" on it. The owner called me and asked me to send him a picture of it, so I did. I have never heard back from him. I don't recommend this store. read more

My friends & I wanted to stop in Placerville so they could explore the little shops for goodies. Originally I wasn't too thrilled to be antique shopping with a my girlfriend & her friend cuz I knew we'd be there all day, but I soon changed my mind. They had A LOT of old items for surprisingly low prices which I was definitely thrown off by. After looking thru the entire store I started finding very cool items. I ended up buying $75 worth of stuff & my friends bought $120 worth of items for their country style house. I spotted a Derringer from the 30s for only $20! After inspecting it, one of the owners said they'd hold it for me till I was ready to pay. I also found a few straight razors from the 1920s so of course I had to buy one. All in all I ended up buying the Derringer, the straight razor, a thimble from 1958, & some ear rings for my girlfriend. The owners/employees were all super nice & helpful. They wrapped all my items up separately as well. Whenever I go back thru Placerville, I'll definitely be coming back to this store. read more

WORST customer service I have ever received. Walked inside to simply look around with my friends. Was looking at the records, thought an album looked cool, and decided to try and take a picture of it. Immediately, the person running the store made a rude remark about how I never asked permission to take a picture. I apologized and asked if there was a sign up front regarding no photographs and he ignored my question and told me to make my own art and take a picture of that. This building feels a little unsafe to me. Dirty, uneven ground and some crowded areas and tapped off areas. But don't let the building fool you. There are so many different small set up shops in this lager location. You will be amazed but the items inside. Be ready to dig and sort and look for things you might be looking for. The hubby and I were looking for a vanity and instead came out with welding parts for his welder. No sure how that even happened but it did. Anyways the building needs a facelift and cleaning but its whats inside that counts. I will be back again and next time I will have more time to look. read more

While they have some fun items, they've always been in questionable shape, even as antiques. The worst bit is that they use their giant marquee to blast their political stances onto Main Street. It's a majorbput-off for a lot of people who go antiquing as an escape from politics. Pretty well done with this place. read more

This shop has lot of different vendors, this is a more a mall, not a single shop, so a wide variety of stuff is in there. The carpet is old and stained, the lighting is uneven, the interior is pretty blah, feels more like a thrift shop than a serious antique business, the owners really need to update this place. It's not particularly well organized, and the quality and pricing is all over the board, I'm sure some is good, but a lot seems pretty marginal. There's usually just a smattering of the vendors on hand at any one time so you can't get help easily, though that can be a plus as you don't have anyone hovering. I have bought a few knick knacks there over the years, nothing wrong with them, but nothing notable that couldn't be found elsewhere, either, I've upgraded this review a bit, they have finally left off political messages off the marquee. But I'm still inclined to skip this store, nor would recommend it. read more

Very large choice of everything. Rhys consignèrent antique store is well managed, people there are always efficient and very nice.

Big shop with many different Dealers, so considerable variety. A lot of jewelry, but not real easy to appreciate in the dimly lit store. They have a large selection and a wide range of prices. Old Theater must have been pretty impressive back in it's hay day. read more
