I've visited Empanada Dada at two food truck festivals. I admit to little familiarity with "authentic" empanadas, so I can only take Empanada Dada's products at face value. Yes, they're small, about half the size of my palm, but have a nice amount of filling in proportion to the crispy dough. They do have this frying thing down pat because the crust is not the least bit greasy. They seem a little pricey at $2 each when you see how small they are, but I found them surprisingly filling after eating five. :) I've had the beef picadillo, ground pork, chicken quesadilla, fiesta taco, black bean-cheese, and sofrito-cheese empanadas and found them all flavorful and tasty. I don't know what kind of holding equipment they have but it's impressive, because the empanadas are about three million degrees when you get them! Both times I burned my tongue. I was less impressed with the churro because it was hard and seemed kind of stale, and while I could see cinnamon sugar on it there wasn't much cinnamon flavor, but it was only the second time I've had a churro - they're not exactly common in New Hampshire - so maybe that's not wrong. I doubt I will get that again though, but stick to the empanadas. I will continue to seek out Empanada Dada at food truck festivals. read more

Ahhhh I love this food truck so much. The empanadas are so flavorful and tasty. Sure these are not the empanadas I am used to, or the traditional kind, but who the heck cares! A few of my favorites are the guava and cream cheese, and the taco empanada. The flavors on these are outstanding, and just such a whirlwind of different flavors and spices. My absolute favorite is guava and cream cheese, which I thought I would've hated but I absolutely loved it. It was creamy and soft but sweet and crunchy. Ugh give me more! I have only two complaints about these. The first is that they are a tad small but boy do most of these pack such a flavor I don't really care that I'll just have to buy more to have more. The second is that they don't come to the North shore area that often. I first tried them at Far From The Tree Cider and I loved the pairing of cider with them. I think I spent $20 on empanadas (which is a lot of money but I was kind of drunk....) and I wanted more but they sold out. They need to come around to more events in Salem and even more in Peabody (where I reside). read more

Empanada Dada catered our end of summer work luncheon. They served 50 people 50 empanadas (veggie options included). Bob was super easy to work with. He was quick to respond and called the day before for confirmation. He arrived an hour early to set up and had empanadas flying out the window by the time we started lunch. 10/10 would recommend! read more

This review is only for the empanadas. I was very excited to try and was excited to try all the different flavors. I've had all different flavors AND types (Puerto Rican, Dominican, Colombian, Cuban, etc) of empanadas throughout my whole life. But was fairly disappointed with how bland some were AND with the price. 5 for $10... is pretty pricey at $2 each for a whole empanada, but would be little more understandable and reasonable.... BUT these are not whole empanadas... these are half of an empanada. So you're basically getting half an empanada for $2. Yikes!! ‍ My favorite here was the guava and cheese. read more

From the farmer's market to the food truck circuit comes Empanada Dada. I was excited to see the shiny new truck parked in the Western Ave Studios lot. I wasn't as excited to see a line of about 15-20 people in front of me, but...I digress. The crux of the menu, the empanadas, are all excellent. Fresh, fresh, fresh dough fried to order with delicious fillings. The smell and anticipation in line is borderline torture. The beef and fiesta being my 2 favorites, but you really can't go wrong with any. My girlfriend swears that the Cuban is the closest you can get outside of Miami. The owner is a great guy, and his mom, slinging dough in the back, is also a doll. It is a no-brainer to support a local business with good people who create authentic street food from the heart. I first found Cuestas Fiestas (now Empanada Dada) over the winter at a local farmers market in Chelmsford and have been following them ever since!! This food is amazing! I have started following the truck in my spare time as I wake up craving these empanadas. I've had the guava and cream cheese, black bean and cheese, beef, and the ones that taste like a taco. I honestly don't know what my favorite is, they are all outstanding!
