I had the radical rice plate with Spanish rice and pork. It was delicious. Very well balanced flavors. My husband had the Mofongo with pork and he said ir was good. The sauce can be a bit over powering if you end up using too much like he did so heads up Our daughters split the tacos and burritos and both loved the burrito and thought the tacos were "mid" teenager talk that means nothing special Our son had the pork sandwich and loved it. It comes with chips and he thought those were a bit bland but the sandwich made up for it Overall would come back. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a pretty nice line when we got here but the line moved fast and the food came out pretty quick. It was fresh, hot and pretty flavorful. I love that it's open sitting. We got to enjoy the nice weather while we ate our food. They have a couple ceiling fans that help on a hot day.

The food is consistently great, the service is friendly without being overbearing, and the seating invites you to slow down and actually enjoy where you are. This place has been around a long time, and it shows in the best way. It's clearly well loved by the community, and there's a relaxed confidence to it that comes from doing things right for years. They were very kind and provided great suggestions. The food was delicious. I'm sad we didn't make it back there during our visit. The empanada was stuffed and flavorful. The tenderloin was so tender and tasty. The kids enjoyed their pancakes and French toast. I had the chorizo skillet, and it was yummy. My water sat empty for 30 minutes and never got refilled. I was done with my food and didn't get checked out until 20 minutes after I finished it. When I confronted the waitress she said she did not want to talk to me since I was on my phone even though I was looking around for the last 10 minutes. She mentioned that it took longer to get to me because it was a busy Sunday morning and that I was alone at a 4 top table but if she was paying attention to me I would have been gone from the restaurant 20 minutes earlier . I did not pick my table so I don't know why she got unset by where I was sitting. I would recommend not eating here alone and planning to wait awhile to get checked out.

Our server tonight struggled from the moment he showed up at our booth, he shook his head yes a lot but failed to understand and deliver and had no verbal communications all night. Thinking he was struggling I made it perfectly clear when I placed my order I even repeated it again and he kinda acknowledged my request - my order of a variety of enchiladas arrived incorrect and both of our entrees were swimming in water making everything completely soggy I raised the question that my order was wrong and our food's presentation was lacking any appeal and was not warm and he thanked me and walked away - he did check in on us several times after our food arrived but none of our requests were acknowledged nor was there any attempt to make it right. If there is any positive here the Dos Equis draft was cold - very disappointing that this restaurant has gone downhill it's not likely we'll return...

Virginio came over and took our drink order. We ordered empanadas for our appetizer and continued to look at the menu. This was our first time here so we wanted to see all that was available. DH ordered "mar y tierra" (thin steak and rice with shrimp and cheese on top). I ordered "camarones al mojo de ajo" (garlic shrimp with rice and refried beans). The empanadas had shredded type meat with a drizzle of sauces. They were ok. I've had better flavor. The meat didn't seem to be seasoned. DH's meal was tender, tasty and good. My shrimp was overcooked so when Virginio came back to see how it was, I explained the situation and he took it back to be prepared again. When he brought my meal it was much better prepared. The shrimp was good but the rice and beans were tasteless. I hate to complain but I was surprised that the food was tasting the way it was. DH was happy though. Virginio was great. He refilled our drinks and came by to ensure we were happy. The customer service was great (another server helped him). That is what l can say that went well!

HOLY COW. Spanish River Grill!…read more This NSB gem is truly amazing. I had multiple friends recommend for dinner and everyone agreed it's one of their favorites in town. Well, they were 100% right and I was blown away. Our table of 5 ordered some serious goodies - I just wish we could have eaten more so we could have tried everything on the menu. The bacon wrapped dates were some of the best I've ever had. The whipped cheese with honey was insanely good. The chicken entree was wild -- so tender and flavorful and the potatoes were to die for. We ordered dessert and it was so good and went so fast that we actually ordered a second cake. The food came out super fast and our server was awesome. The restaurant is very low key but nice, nothing stuffy or too casual. I honestly was so surprised but so happy with the experience. Come one, come all, and enjoy your feast!

Honest and fair feedback for the management and chef of the Spanish River Grill…read more I typically leave no review and just move on when I have a disappointing experience. I want restaurants to be successful and am cautious about my criticism, but the person managing the front of the house chose to be condescending rather than understanding when I sent an unacceptable dish back. The positives: We were having a great experience prior to our large plate. Had the mussels which were great, tasty crab cakes, and perfectly prepared calamari. The olive oil cake that we were sent home with (comped) was as good as everyone says. The service was also good until the problem and the Sangria was delish. The Negatives: I was so excited to have the Paella since it's been years since I've had a great one. I've had Paella at 7 or 8 restaurants in the past as well as home prepared so I am not new to the experience. What I dished onto my plate had a little bit of everything. Everything was good not great but the chicken thigh meat was like rubber and the shrimp was overcooked by quite a lot. I don't expect perfection with shrimp. When our server checked on us, I informed them of the poor quality and they quickly said to stop eating and another dish can be brought out. I can only speculate that they have had problems with complaints after a dish has already been eating but that's not us. I never ask for anything to be comped if I am unhappy. My wife didn't want to send it back because it would mean a long wait for another but I didn't want it. Our server told us we need to decide fast and left us to discuss. We did not eat any more and after about 10 minutes the food was taken from the table. They did offer again to make something else. We were very disappointed since it's a 45 minute drive for us but these things happen sometime. Can't win them all. We could have just ended things there and I was prepared to pay the 60 dollars for the Paella (was removed) and move on but the manager came out and lectured me about this being the first complaint about the Paella in 3 years and that she tasted it all and that it was fine. Of the thousands of restaurants I've been to in my life, this was a first. Nobody likes it when they are implicated as a liar. What was a disappointing experience turned into an upsetting one. I hope she was just having a bad day because treating customers that way is not a recipe for success. I like to give businesses a second chance because everyone makes mistakes, and we had planned to meet some friends that live closer to NSB, but I can't imagine that I will now because of that. Perhaps they wouldn't want me back since I am the only person to ever complain about the Paella. Did I insult the chef by doing that?

Beachy theme, plenty of outdoor seating, and a solid location near the water (not quite toes-in-the-sand, but close enough to feel the breeze). It wasn't busy when I stopped in, which made for an easy, relaxed lunch. I went with the Surfin' Cali Burrito, because commitment to the theme felt necessary. Portions are big and prices are reasonable, so no complaints there. But flavor-wise, it was more "gentle ripple" than "flavor wave." Not bad, just not something I'd go out of my way to order again. This spot really feels like it shines more as a bar than a restaurant. I can see it being great for drinks, hanging out, and soaking in the atmosphere. As a food destination, it's decent, but not exactly making a splash. It was also pretty warm inside, though with all the doors open, that's kind of part of the laid-back setup. Bottom line: Good vibes, fair prices, generous portions, and okay food.
