I don't understand why this place is not rated higher. Been here twice and this Mexican Restaurant is heads above any other Mexican place in New Smyrna! Very consistent. High quality ingredients! Unfortunately my last two visits here have been disappointing, I figured even though my last visit was not what I've experienced in the past I wrote it off as a bad night. Our server tonight struggled from the moment he showed up at our booth, he shook his head yes a lot but failed to understand and deliver and had no verbal communications all night. Thinking he was struggling I made it perfectly clear when I placed my order I even repeated it again and he kinda acknowledged my request - my order of a variety of enchiladas arrived incorrect and both of our entrees were swimming in water making everything completely soggy I raised the question that my order was wrong and our food's presentation was lacking any appeal and was not warm and he thanked me and walked away - he did check in on us several times after our food arrived but none of our requests were acknowledged nor was there any attempt to make it right. If there is any positive here the Dos Equis draft was cold - very disappointing that this restaurant has gone downhill it's not likely we'll return... read more

Food is horrible. It's bad old and salty oh wait, but don't forget about the fermented onions You gotta be careful to not get sick. I definitely will not comeback or recommended to anybody that place should be shut down read more

We walked in and the sign said to seat ourselves so we sat in a booth. The restaurant was nice, clean and festive. They have out and inside seating. Virginio came over and took our drink order. We ordered empanadas for our appetizer and continued to look at the menu. This was our first time here so we wanted to see all that was available. DH ordered "mar y tierra" (thin steak and rice with shrimp and cheese on top). I ordered "camarones al mojo de ajo" (garlic shrimp with rice and refried beans). The empanadas had shredded type meat with a drizzle of sauces. They were ok. I've had better flavor. The meat didn't seem to be seasoned. DH's meal was tender, tasty and good. My shrimp was overcooked so when Virginio came back to see how it was, I explained the situation and he took it back to be prepared again. When he brought my meal it was much better prepared. The shrimp was good but the rice and beans were tasteless. I hate to complain but I was surprised that the food was tasting the way it was. DH was happy though. Virginio was great. He refilled our drinks and came by to ensure we were happy. The customer service was great (another server helped him). That is what l can say that went well! read more

My husband and I came here for lunch and it was happy hour till 3pm on a Sunday. We ordered the supreme anchors and we ordered them with chicken and beef. My husband likes the beef and I really enjoyed the chicken. We didn't order any entrees do to the nachos were enough for the two of us. I had a glass of sangria which was a little too much citrus and my husband ordered a margarita a jumbo one and it was high. lol we will definitely come back to try entrées we heard that their amazing definitely want to come back for that. Other than that. We had a fantastic time. I waiter. We cannot remember his name, but he was awesome with recommendations as well. Or love the decor they also have outdoor seating as well. Be sure what you order is what you get. Ordered 2 Steak Burrito Mexicano dinners & it was filled with onions peppers and literally 3 slivers of steak in all four burritos! Some of the tomatoes & onions were fermented!! Rip off!! This was my second attempt and this visit was just a complete disappointment, again. We've eaten here for years. Pretty good Mexican tho not my favorite place to go for it but it's close. But in the last few years it has gotten really expensive. I know everything has but, for example, the veggie fajitas I had were $20!! For just veggies and rice. That's crazy to me. Other places in town charge $15, $16.99 for veggie fajitas. All of the prices have gone up so much, we rarely eat here. The restaurant looks good inside tho the bench seating is uncomfortable. They do have a few outside tables as well. Again, decent food but you're definitely paying high dollars for it. read more

I used to love this place 2 years ago but now, Service sucks. The server was Jonny on the spot when we walked in! He brought the chips and salsa out with in 30 seconds of sitting down and took our drink orders. He came back and took our order and only came back with the food. Never came back to refill drinks or ask if we want more chips and salsa. I understand if the restaurant was busy but only had about 6 tables sitting. Absolutely gone down hill! read more

Came with my husband for dinner one evening and waiter took our order but had to clarify what we wanted. I had two enchiladas and my husband had two tacos with rice and beans. There was so much liquid on the plate from the taco meat they were so soggy you couldn't pick them up as well as my enchiladas was soaking in meat juice. the worst money spent. Ordered chicken fajitas, no flavor, got 3/4 plate of onions and very large chucks of green peppers, none sauteed, still semi raw. Our server Samuale S, after serving our food, not once checked if everything was satisfactory, or did he ask to refill our drinks. We had to go find him at the bar in order to get our check and pay. I prefer to write only good reviews as I had been to our local Edgewater El Molcajete previously with good experiences. I went back on 3/17/25 for my daughters birthday. Lunch and service were terrible. My lunch was a shrimp chimichanga that flooded my plate with greasy water when I cut into it and the rice on the dish was refrigerator cold. I told two servers my meal was cold and they smiled and left each time I was thinking to get a manager. One finally returned with my check and couldn't understand anything I was saying. I don't believe they spoke english. I did not make a scene or complain further but, I will not return . . . ever. read more

I love the genuine Mexican dishes and the atmosphere reminds me of the family run places I experienced in Mexico City. The molcahete and pibil dishes are exactly what I remember. Full of flavor and texture. Not your average Mexican place. Their service is a weak spot. Nothing hostile or slovenly, but the servers don't look very happy.
