It is not just jazz, but there are certainly many great jazz concerts here. I have seen Thomas Helton organize a recreation of the Miles Davis Nonent. Playing The Birth of the Cool from beginning to end. That has been one of my favorite concerts I have been to in Houston. I have also seen some benefit concerts and auctions that are always great fun. The vibe here is great. There are two levels. Tables scatterd on the first floor, and a balcony on the second with more tables and a bar. Often when I come, the place is packed, and people make a seat on the stairs. Which is actually pretty comfortable. Great seats throughout, and awesome acoustics. A hidden gem in the Rice Village area, and one of my favorite places to see a show.

The parking lot once crowded can be a hassle so next time will park along the side instead of the back, got blocked in and that's wasn't fun but quickly resolved . Forget the Downtown Grounds and the Axiom, the new era involves these small guerrilla clubs where you can get beers at $1 above grocery cost and listen to bands that the Vatican and Soviet Union alike would ban. The sound is nowhere near as bad as you would think it would be from a first glance, and everyone here was really nice even with hopeless drunks.

As expected, this was a dingy dive bar, which for a hardcore show is honestly a little bit of a plus as it fits the vibe lol. They are a cardless venue that does not serve hard liquor so if you want drinks make sure you bring cash and expect to only have beers or seltzers. The sound was incredible and at such a small venue the energy was unreal. The problematic incident came in between two sets. I was sitting on a bench near the restrooms when all of a sudden the bouncer stormed over and started asking everyone in the vicinity who had just went into the restroom. I was very confused at first but eventually came to the realization the bouncer had seen someone who he thought was a trans person go into the restroom and he kept angrily shouting "Nah we don't do that **** here!". The restrooms each only had a single stall anyway. This was really uncomfortable to witness and put me off a bit. Concertgoers beware....
