Jamie W and I managed to hit four different bars in Montreal's Gay Village over our vacation (see…read morereview links below). We found this one had the most relaxing vibe, especially in the early evening before activity on Sainte-Catherine began to percolate. This bar is mostly known for the access they provide patrons to thousands of music videos available through a mobile app. Somebody must've already programmed a lot of Depeche Mode and Erasure music, which was perfectly fine with Jamie since that's his jam. Meantime we sat out on the terrace and leisurely ordered a couple of rounds. First up was a pair of fruity lookalike C$11 drinks, Bellini à la Peche and Limoncello Spritz (Photo 9). The peachy concoction had prosecco and peach schnapps, jujube, and syrup. The spritz combined limoncello, prosecco, and soda. Our libations were so refreshing we went for a second round of same-price drinks, Berrylicious (strawberry slush & white rum) and Jungle Bird (dark rum, Campari & pineapple) (Photo 10). They were even buzzier than the first round. Our one nitpick with the slushie cocktails was that we were hoping they would be frozen, but we didn't whine about it. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...fruity and refreshing, just not frozen AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...pretty laid back SERVICE - 4 stars...an attentive bartender and server TOTAL - 4 stars...bring back the Human League! I went there several Friday nights. And I was pleasantly surprised to see not only people enjoying…read morethemselves and looking comfortable in their skin, but was blessed to hear some of the best hits from the 90's... the DJ really looked like he was having fun blending and mixing live. Big shout out to DJ iwonder! The atmosphere is very lounge like and the walls are displaying paintings from well known Montreal artists. I think you can even buy them! Loved how the colours of the paintings blended with the blue and red lights in the venue. The bar staff is friendly and the drinks are good. They even have a "special" drink. Ask for it! It's very tasty. Wait! There is more. Not only did I enjoy a great DJ set, I also got the opportunity to see live music! Great Montreal artists who are jumping on stage to share what they do on an international level, hosted by MUSIK THERAPY UNITED (New Montreal movement). No wonder the vibe of the venue is so hyped... half of the club is full of artists! They know how to relax and inspire you to just let go of the stressful vibes the week can through at you! No posing. I suggest you to arrive come between 10:00 and 11:00. Should give you time to find parking. But since it's the weekend and the venue is located downtown... I would take public transport. It's 10 seconds from Place Des Arts metro (exit : Bleury). If you want to eat, there is a Tim Horton, a Subway or a Thai fast food restaurant Get a few drinks at the bar, take a seat on one of the leather sofas and breathe in the soulful vibes the DJ is throwing at you. Friday nights at Blueprint? Yes.
