I flew on Emirates for the first time last month and was extremely disappointed. They did not follow through with their promised services, so don't be fooled. They offer a fancy, glossy package of business class, but the reality is they don't meet what's advertised. My flight was delayed landing in Dubai, but rather than drive me to my next flight as promised, they decided I wouldn't be able to make it and cancelled my ticket before I even tried. I asked the drivers at the gate if they would kindly take me, and I was denied. I ran 20 minutes across the airport, and arrived on time but was told they had made the decision for me. My baggage was delayed by 2.5 days - they couldn't explain why it wasn't loaded on the next two flights. My meal was also no longer available since they had taken me off the flight. I was also promised reimbursement of expenses upon arrival. I had a large presentation the following day, and none of my expenses for that meeting were covered. I also had a very rude driver getting to the airport. Don't trust the airline, and definitely don't trust their layovers. It's really too bad - I was looking for a new primary airline for business travel, and it certainly won't be Emirates. read more

The check-in counter staff at SFO were rude, aggressive, and unprofessional, especially when handling luggage. On top of that, Emirates did not allow personal items onboard. Despite an 8+ hour layover, no free accommodation was provided. Instead, we were told it must be booked 24 hours in advance and paid for, even though this was our first flight, not a connection. Emirates themselves changed the second flight and turned the layover into more than 10 hours, yet took no responsibility. This is not the level of service expected from a premium airline. read more

I was told by many friends to take Emirates because it would be a great experience. It was anything but. I was promised a hotel during my over night layover in Dubai, only to get there with no place to stay. I waited in line for almost an hour, after a 14 hour flight, the representatives in Dubai were incredibly rude, I had to pay almost $200 to get a last minute hotel room, that I was told came with my ticket, and they offered no concession to help me resolve the issue. The inflight experience was great, but they do not honor their promises. read more

Emirates has the best airplane ever . Welcome to the A380 experience! Hubby and I flew internationally to Dubai & South Africa! Great entertainment ! Movie and TV choices were plentiful! The selection was world class and varied from Hollywood to Bollywood to Nollywood! Lots of room for walking and also restrooms were decent! On our 16 hour flight to Dubai they offered two full meals plus a pizza or sandwich snack. The had unlimited beverages and offered them on demand throughout the flight. On our 8 hour flight to South Africa the entertainment was better and had a greater selection from the continent. Great engines, superior room and excellent flight! Felt like luxury from the moment we boarded till we arrived in Dubai! We spent 2 nights in Dubai! Amazing time and deserves a whole chapter itself! Super impressed with this world class airline! One star less for the fact that we had to pay for the seats after purchasing our tickets !! Otherwise I highly recommend! read more

Have been traveling between USA and India+Dubai for the past 16 years. We had many bad experiences with them in the past with staff behaving rude to us. Borderline racism in every process from check in through on board staff . Over the years we switched away to Singapore Airlines due to the way better experiences we have had with them I however had to do a quick trip to Dubai on October 9th and had no other option but to take emirates. Staff has improved in their behavior however I found a large screw in the food. I have attached a photo of it with this review. Staff didn't seem bothered with the find and didnt consider it as a big quality problem. I was offered a replacement meal however Overall I would recommend staying away from this airline. The following is my horrible experiences with Emirates airlines EK0215 that departed on the 25th of December, traveling from Dubai to LA. I boarded for Dubai from AMD, India. While I was waiting for my flight to LAX at DBX I started developing a headache & by the time the doors of the aircraft closed my migraine was unbearable. I felt like throwing up & I had immense pressure behind my eyes that only got worse with the increasing altitude. I took my migraine medicine and it wasn't helping me at all, I became very drowsy. There were a few empty rows of seats behind me, so I thought boarding was completed and no one was there so I could lay down. I waited for the seatbelt sign to turn off and went and sat down in the empty row. At this point my migraine and nausea were extremely uncomfortable. I wanted to do my best to manage it in the flight because we were already airborne. I knew that if I started throwing up, it would be a big mess for everyone. A few minutes later, the supervisor (NAME: EZZAT HANNA) came and started talking to me in an extremely inappropriate way. He was not only very mean but was speaking loud enough to attract attention from other passengers & employees. He kept insisting that I HAD to move back to my seat, even though it was an unoccupied row. I tried to explain to him but he wasn't listening at all. He was an extremely abrasive & unprofessional person. He kept insisting that he can't allow anyone to sit there no matter what. At which point my husband tried to talk to him. My husband, being a doctor, tried to explain the situation to him but he was extremely condescending to my husband as well. Throughout this entire conversation he kept implying & behaving as if we were flying for free, & that if we wanted more comfortable seats he had to sell us an upgrade. He was extremely pushy about purchasing emergency exit row seats. A few minutes after being forced to move back, I walked back to the bathroom and saw a white lady laying down & sleeping on the seat I was previously in. My husband asked the supervisor why he allowed them to sleep there but not me; after which point he spent the entire flight hiding his face and avoiding us. I have been traveling internationally for years and never had this issue. Anytime there is an empty row, people know they can sleep there or lay down. Flying out of LAX to India every 3 months, we have a plethora of options but we CHOOSE to pay extra because Emirates has accommodating service. However after this trip, I don't think that's true at all. Whether it was our connection from AMD to DBX, or DBX to LAX the whole staff was very off. We literally felt like we were being spoken down to because of our race. Even the boarding process was so humiliating to be screamed & shouted at. It was bad enough that later on my husband asked them if "everything alright because the first time I am seeing you guys is not very friendly". This has been the worst flying experience of my life, and I've been flying internationally since the 90's. Emirates is not a cheap airline. 9/10 times we pay more to fly Emirates. We have never felt more humiliated and insulted than we did by that flight attendant supervisor. It's extremely telling That he thinks he can speak to a person of color this way but has no issues making an exception for a white lady. I request that you have a stern talk with your staff about the way they speak to their customers of color. We do not get these tickets for free. We are paying customers. We deserve to be treated fairly and equally. Your staff should not be making exceptions for one race of people if they do not allow another person to do the same thing. Welcome aboard the Airbus A380-800, the largest passenger airliner ever put into service, with 623 passengers and 3 connecting bridge gates! We made reservations from San Francisco to Nairobi, with a stopover in Dubai. Want to reserve a specific seat? Starting in late 2016 it will cost $40 per person for the first part of the flight, and $25 for the second portion of the flight, or $260 for both person for the entire 4 legs of the roundtrip! Or you can wait until 48 hours before the flight to pick your seat for free, for that portion of the flight only. Lots of seats available even in window and aisle 4 days before the flight. 48 hours before the flight, we log in, and a message appears to try again later. Hundreds of people logging in at exactly 48 hours before the flight, crashed the system. I call direct, and all aisle and window seats are gone. Wife is mad because her cherished window seat is gone -15 hour flight to Dubai, and there goes her beauty rest, as she leans against the window using it as a pillow. Emirates offers an upgrade for each person in the party for $1000 per person in the party. We consider it, but the offer is snapped up by others in an instant. We check in our oversized luggage to Nairobi. Total length + width + height cannot exceed 62", nor weight exceed 50 lbs. $100 surcharge for each bag exceeding the guidelines. Takes 20 minutes to check in our luggage to Nairobi, but the booking agent forgot to give us a second pair of boarding passes for the Dubai to Nairobi portion. We haul our carry on luggage, and enter through one of three entrances to the A380.Plane has two decks, each deck stretching the entire length of the aircraft.. Beautiful aircraft, with the seats having an inch+ more legroom and more width than the latest version of the Boeing 747, its main competitor. One place where that inch + makes a huge difference! I should know as I sat in a center section seat, hemmed in on both sides for 15 hours! Plane had a read out on the partition wall, with the vacancy/occupied status of each of the pair of restrooms in our area. After breakfast was served, we had two straight hours where there were no vacancies, with primarily women waiting. Flight was 90% Asian Indian. 3 free hot meals served on this aircraft, and they are well prepared, tasty, served with metal utensils. Only got 3.5 hours of intermittent sleep due to 3 crying babies in our section of 76 seats. Wife had it worse, as she was seated next to an arm rest hog in the aisle, who also had acute body odor! And there as a crying baby two seat away! Least you think that was a fluke, on the trip back to SFO had 4 crying babies in my section of 100. Lots of young Indian engineers and their families going to and from India through Emirates Dubai. Made it through the 15 hour flight thanks to some top flight movies such as the 2016 version of the Magnificent 7, and the latest Jack Reacher thriller! In Dubai, we had a 15 hour layover and used a complimentary hotel stay overnight, complete with dinner and breakfast buffet, and free shuttle to and from the hotel to the airport! We were anxious to get the hell ouf of Dodge,as it was 117 degrees in Dubai! read more

I presently traveled with this airline for a round trip to Middle East. I purchased and paid for better seats. On the flight out of SF, I found my self with almost empty plane, however threee women with their small children on the lap were seated in from of me. One of the kids throw his milk bottle at me and woke me up and a polite later he throw his mom,a heavy phone at me. Not to mention these women came aboard for 16 hr flight with no toys to books or anything to occupy them during the flight, so kids basically cried and screamed the whole flight. I complained to the staff. Instead of moving me to a better seat, they placed me all the way in the back of the plane. I did not get to sit in the chair I had paid extra and instead degraded for other people's bad behavior. I went to get a refund for the seat I did not get to use and spoke to a manager (this was during layover in Dubai ). They gave a none working email to send my complain which did not work. I stopped by a manager on the flight out of Dubai on my return flight. I met a VERY RUDE manager who was dismissive and basically send me on my way without any help. All the passengers on my flights with this airline were dirty, smelly and it was seriously disgusting to watch these people take their shoes off and in some occasion throw them in middle of aisle. I recently flew Emirates to Dubai & then India. I booked my flight and read these reviews and I won't lie when I say I was a bit scared. Oh well, too late to cancel. Got on my flight at SFO. I has booked all my seats prior & had no issues. Until the people next to me sat down. They had really bad B.O. really bad! About 5 minutes later ( we still were on the ground) I walked up to an attendant and asked if I could switch seats due to the stinkiness. I told her i wanted aisle or window. After some looking around, she moved me to a aisle seat. 7 stars for this! Flight was fine. Gave pillows and blankets. They turn the lights down and little stars come up on the ceiling. They had baskets of fruit & candy in the back for snacks. Food was pretty decent, no complaints. But they ran out of soak in one of the bathrooms & when I told the attendant, she said they had to wait to reach Dubai to refill it. 0 stars for this. Dubai to India was a bit of a bumpy ride. An attendant came by with stuffed animals for kids and I asked for 2 as I had a brand new niece & nephew I was going to see. She was nice & gave them to me. The older lady next to me asked for 1 for her grandson & was denied. I felt kinda bad for her, and no, I didn't give her one of mines. India back to SFO was fine. However the walk at the Dubai airport to get from one gate to the other must have been like a mile long. It was nice for me to move around, but for the elderly or for those with kids, I could see how it would be annoying. Luckily the layover was about 2 hours. One thing, the Dubai airport has "weird" rules. On my way back, they checked my bags at the gate (well they checked everyones) and she threw out my lotion & water bottle (water was bought at airport and half empty). Both had cleared security & i flew in/out of Dubai a few weeks ago with no issues. Kinda annoying. Another neat thing, they have cameras on the front and bottom of the plane so you can see what the pilot sees in the sky, at takeoff, at landing etc. Overall a good experience. I flew with them last week and that would be my LAST trip with them. I give them 2 stars and here are the reasons for that: 1. My outbound seat from SFO to Dubai was changed when I dropped off my bag. I made the reservation with the confirmed seat and even checked in online the day before. But they changed my seat from row 31 to 36 right in front of the restroom. Boy, this is the worst seat on the airplane and I couldn't change because it's a full fight (-1 stars). 2. I had the worst experience on the route between Dubai and India (both directions). They must use the OLDEST airplane as the back of my seat doesn't work. When the seat is leaned back, the bottom portion stuck out and push my waist forward. I called the flight attendants and they cannot fix it. I've to endure the back pain for the 3.5 hrs duration (-2 stars). 3. There is a curse on this trip or something. Emirates actually bumped me off on my flight from Dubai to SFO as they overbooked the tickets. They gave my seat to another Gold star members and told me to take a connection flight thru Seattle or take the next day flight. I refused to take their offer of a Free round trip with Emirates as I had decided NOT to fly with them ever again. To accommodate their mistake, they upgraded me to Business class on the longest leg to Seattle. For this, I give them one star to make it even. My first time on Emirates. Was looking forward to it after I had heard phenomenal things about it. Was flying business class which has a nice perk of a limo pick up. However, they did did not show up even though I had confirmation. Barely managed to make it on time after taking a cab. What was even more infuriating was the idiot mgr who was rude and kept saying my admin messed up even though I had the confirmation for the pick up. I wish I remembered his name. He is Asian and hopefully his manager is reading this. At that point, I was ready to say ##$% it and find another airline. But reality crept in and I decided to fly them anyway. Actually the rest of the trip was a 4 star experience. Great service and food on board and at the lounges. They do need a better boarding process in India for First and Business class passengers. It was a little chaotic and had to board with the economy folks as well. Based on the overall experience, I would have normally put this at 3 but keeping it at 1 hoping that someone will read this and FIRE that idiot manager in SF! read more

Emirates is a convenient airline for me. They fly non-stop/1 stop to most Indian metros, they have great in-flight entertainment, responsive stewards/air-hostesses and the food isn't half as bad. The seats in the SFO-Dubai flight are extremely cramped. I'm petite and don't find it to be that much of a problem, but I can imagine how this could be a problem for taller people. Also, all SF-Dubai-Indian metro flights will have a lot of babies on board = crying babies all the time. Make sure to ask for ear-plugs before you take off ;) My biggest gripe is their customer service. If you ever need to postpone/prepone your flight or cancel or even make small changes to your itinerary, you have to jump through hoops that I haven't experienced with any other airline before. Emirates seems to have quite the mixed reviews. Personally my husband and I had a great experience flying coach to Dubai/Thailand and would 100% fly Emirates again! To start be sure to pick your seats online, don't get stuck with whatever is left over at the airport. On the plane to Dubai they had some two seat configurations which we selected for both trips. A note with the two seaters you can't lean against the window since there is too much of a space. When we got to the airport my husband's carryon was too large, he always uses it for domestic flights, I think it was more of a weight thing so beware of that. We were happy to check it since it was free and we didn't really want to deal with it anyways. On to the flight itself, the flight attendants were very friendly and they went through quite a few times throughout each flight. I thought the food options were awesome as well, especially for plane food, I was quite impressed! The coach seats were comfortable. I had an immense amount of envy walking through the glorious business class section to get to coach, but coach really was fine. The TV/movie selections were awesome. They really have pretty much every recent movie/TV show you would be interested in. For my next long haul flight I would 100% fly Emirates again. read more

No complaints about service at SFO. Major complaints regarding the Emirates staff at Trivandrum (TRV) airport in India and Dubai. No Emirates staff is available at the boarding/gate area until your flight boards at TRV. Major delays caused us to be stranded at TRV another day and we missed our one-day of touring in Dubai on our way to SFO. I was not pleased. Indians get to cut in line for a hotel and to get on another flight while the foreigners get no help. We eventually got a hotel but no A/C taxi in humid Kerala (it was only $2 more!). Nobody was able to put us on a later flight to SFO from Dubai so we got to our hotel at 2a and checked out at 6a (I was not pleased since I paid $100 for the hotel in Dubai and they did not reimburse us). Luckily, the flight stewards on the flight to SFO upgraded us to business class for the 15-hour flight (thus, the 3 stars to offset what happened in India). Even in economy, everyone gets their own TV and they have an extensive list of shows, dramas and movies. They also screwed up my luggage from Dubai to SFO. They gave me tags for another person with my last name. That is just plain damn lazy! And the terrorist like staff at Dubai were interrogating me by asking me who the other person was. How am I supposed to know! Anyway, I got my luggage in the end on time so I was ok with this screw-up. Will never fly Emirates again. I would give Emirates 5 stars if they didn't forget my luggage in Dubai. Look I'm that forgiving... all because I've had such great in-flight experience with them. Business class is SUPERB. I am not use to be pampered like that since I used to fly with United. Seats are spacious and CLEAN. Yes, no breadcrumbs or nasty stuff laying on the crack of the seats. Meals are tasty, 4 stars restaurant quality, with warm apple tart and NY style cheese cake (Unlike the gooey stale dessert cake that's served in United). Their interactive system (ICE) is a touch screen with plenty of movies and entertainments, also comes with a noise canceling headset. After meal, the crew will provide you with a fresh mattress over your seat. So cushy that I slept like a baby for 8 hours in the 16 hours flight (SFO to Dubai). They also serve real towels in the toilets. Not the disposable gray paper towel like the one provided by United that break apart easily. I also like the adjustable privacy panel that can raise up on the side so you can sleep better. The ceiling turns into a starry sky when the lights are off..... a very nice touch on the details :) Did I also mentioned the beautiful and friendly international fleet of crew members? The girls also tried to help me to put my carry on to the overhead bin, without me asking. I was shocked because I was so used to the UA crew giving me a blank stare with their arms crossed, telling me that's not part of their job to hurt their back. Their business lounge in Dubai also has excellent buffet, shower area, spa, WiFi, business center with free computers, Xbox, and some useless Microsoft Surface tables. Their complimentary Chauffeur-drive service is also impressive (to and from the airport). I was going to transfer the miles to UA, but I think I'll open up a Skyward account with them now. Worse gate boarding and customer services experience. After being humiliated at the gate by supervisor, because of the trolley I was carrying was not put aside in a correct way ( almost 40-50, in the hall way and no stations to park them) he told me he is going to teach me lesson. Boarded as last person, and then hunted inside the flight as I asked the flight supervisor how I can make a complain. This was reported to customer services of Emirates both by flight stewards and I. After few weeks, they apology for the incident and that the matter was taken care off. I tried to get more info, but no answers anymore. Shameful customer services with an arrogant policy. read more

I am just coming off having done a SFO-HYD-SFO roundtrip in March-April of this year. This is my 4th roundtrip in the past 8 yrs or so with Emirates (same route). My latest trips with Emirates have been increasingly dissatisfying (although the airlines seems to charge smaller fares than what they used to a decade ago). I would much rather pay a higher fare for a higher quality service like before, flying coach. Emirates aces in service for the most part. The inflight entertainment is by far the best that I have experienced (across multiple carriers). I've even discovered some of my favorite music albums and artists through their ICE inflight entertainment channels. No complaints whatsoever on the quality of food they serve either. Layovers and transfers are super convenient in Dubai. I've always found their ground-staff efficient. Drawbacks - uncomfortable seat configuration given the long haul flights. This is true of both their A380s and the Boeing 777s. Both the seat width and seat pitch are painfully configured with little room for mobility (which is only worse when it is a full flight). My recent return trip to SFO from DXB was the worst thus far because I was stuck in a seat which was dysfunctional and did not recline. An entire 15+hr ultra-claustrophobic flight where people are crammed in like cattle is no fun. If you are an older passenger, be prepared for a lot of discomfort that way. Given the extra passenger they accommodate per row with the 3-4-3 seat configuration, they seem to impose a strict 15 lb 'single' piece carry-on per passenger. That is a little troubling should you choose to carry an additional laptop bag or handbag (for women). Never encountered this strict limitation on any other carrier, thus far...Some of these tactics by Emirates seem too cheap. The bathrooms on the flight are not cleaned adequately even at the start of the flight. Also, on my recent trip I realized that you will almost 'never' get your preferred seats, unless you paid an additional fee while purchasing your tickets. That costs an additional $35 per seat per long-haul leg on the A380s. Then, the luggage restrictions with Emirates (or any airlines) are always strict as far as I could tell. Not sure why that seems incomprehensible to many passengers who come checked-in and overpacked, and then busily re-arrange their luggage at the counters on the floor (inconveniencing and delaying everyone behind them). Another issue that some passengers just don't seem to dig - not taking a shower! It is insulting to sit next to such passengers, much less tolerate their foul body odor for 16 hrs. Why is taking a shower so hard to comprehend for some?? All-in-all, my rating for Emirates drops to a 3.5 because of all the seat configuration and luggage restriction issues that I noticed on my recent trip, else it could have been an easy 5. read more

We had a terrible experience with Emirates and were very disappointed since they advertise themselves as the #1 voted airline. We flew from NYC to DBX to Colombo, Sri Lanka. They lost our baggage. We were told it would be delivered to our hotel the next day and that it would arrive on a 5 am flight. We ended up receiving our bags 30 hours later after multiple calls to Emirates and the airport! On our way home, we flew from Male to DBX to JFK. There was bad weather in NYC. 3 hours before our flight, we got a text that our DBX to JFK flight had been cancelled. At the airport, none of the Emirates representatives assisted us and told us we need to contact Emirates customer service. After calling multiple numbers, we finally got through to someone in Boston. She didn't understand why the Emirates employees did not help us. Ultimately, we got to Dubai. Our 5 hour layover became a 5 day layover! Emirates had availability on flights earlier, but because they were business class seats, they wouldn't bump anyone. It just goes to show you that Emirates cares more about money than it does about their guests. They provided no reimbursement for anything. It cost us an extra $1000 to stay in a hotel. They harassed me and my partner and treated us horribly to miss our flight never will I fly emirates again the manager named Mohammed and customer service agent Eiseth did nothing to help my situation and both lacked customer service. Shockily bad. I paid $20k for my first class seat from seattle to Dubai. The lounge was terrible and I'm embarrassed for Emirates for putting passengers in this awe full lounge. The food options were cold Vegan soup with 1 week old stale bread. I simply walked out because I needed something warm to eat. See my photo, yeh that's what Emirates think you're $20,000 is worth. In addition the car service you get as part of the first class service is not free it's about 3 times more than any other car service. However, in specific response to your demand for payment, in accordance with the EC regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union, may I clarify that Emirates is a Non-EU Airline and flight EK2183 was departing from a Non-EU airport. Therefore, I am unable to meet with your request for payment in accordance with EC regulation 261/2004. May we suggest that you contact your travel insurers for assistance with your claim. Ok this is going to be very long because I want people to know just how far this airline goes to purposely screw over their customers and to make a few dollars. If you don't want to read the whole thing I will sum it up for you in a few sentences. Emirates could care less about any of their customers. They don't care if your stuck in a foreign country with no way back home even if it was their own fault. They are a very dishonest and immoral company that will do anything to have a chance to make a few extra dollars. So my terrible ordeal started when my flight from Miami to New York changed gates at the last minute and didn't inform the passengers. So I missed my flight. This flight was through jet blue. From NY I was to take two flights with emirates to my final destination. I missed those too. Jet blue took full responsibility for their mistake and had me scheduled for a flight the next day. They also paid to have my international flights rescheduled for the next day. This would have cost me an extra $2K (my entire round trip was $1900). Jet blue gave me absolutely no problems and took care of everything within 3 hours of my missed flight. I have to say, I was very impressed by their professionalism. Everything on my new departure schedule was perfect. However, I noticed that one of my flights with emirates on my return flight was cancelled. I called them immediately and they informed me that the flight was fine it was just showing up this way because my departure flight was rescheduled. I was told it should update and be back to normal later that day. So that night I checked the flight and it still showed up as cancelled. So I called Emirates again. This time the woman told me the same thing except she said it takes up to 48 hours to update. I asked her if the flight would show me as a passenger with a ticket and she assured me again that my ticket was not cancelled and that it was on track. So the next afternoon I got on my flight and got to New York. I checked the itinerary on my laptop and it still showed part of my return flight as cancelled. At this point it had been 37 hours so I was a little worried. I called Emirates again and was told the same thing as the previous time. Just to be safe I asked them if they were sure my return flight would be fine. I even explained how if they weren't sure just to let me know because I didn't want to take a chance of being stuck in another country. I even told them I'm in New York and I can go back to Florida if they weren't sure. Keep in mind that they had no reason to lie and give me false assurances because there was no refund policy. They could have been completely honest. I was told not to worry, that everything was fine and to board my flight. So I boarded my flight and got to Dubai (headquarters for Emirates). I checked my itinerary and it was exactly the same. At this point it had been over 53 hours. I went to the main office for Emirates at the airport. They informed me that everything was fine and that sometimes it takes longer than 48 hours for them to update a rescheduled itinerary. At this point it would have cost me as much to go back to Florida by booking a new flight so I boarded my flight to Dhaka. When I got to Dhaka I checked my itinerary and to my horror my ENTIRE return flight for emirates showed up as cancelled. I was infuriated! I called Emirates and explained everything that all of their agents told me thus far. I was flat out told that they made a mistake. I was told that it was their airlines policy to cancel an entire itinerary when a passenger missed any part of the flight. So apparently because I missed my JetBlue flight my return flight was cancelled as well. And the best part is they keep all my money for the ENTIRE itinerary including the return flight they cancelled!! I asked them how that even makes sense because my return flight was 3 weeks from my departure. What if I booked a different departure (like what just happened) flight to my destination? They told me again that it was their policy. I asked them what my options were. They told me that I had to wait up until 3 days before my return flight. If at that date no one else had purchased a ticket to fill up that flight that I would be given the seat. And if there were no more seats left I would have to pay last minute for an entirely new return flight (which would cost a fortune)! Going over the word limit so I will sum this up. I wasted a week of my vacation gathering evidence. I had enough proof to sue them and show that emirates was 100% negligent. So they were magically able to bend their policy and give me a return flight home. This is by far the most despicable act I have ever experienced from any company. Its borderline evil. Out of 3 week of my vacation an entire week was spent dealing with this problem that shouldn't have been a problem to begin with. They are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. read more

This review is from my Mom who traveled on Emirates Airlines on Feb. 2014 - If there was a way to rate ZERO stars instead of one, I would. We were stranded in Dubai for over 24 hours. By we, I mean myself and about 60 other passengers because our connecting flight (also an Emirates flight) left without us. I understand that these things sometimes cannot be avoided, but what appalls me is the way in which the situation was handled and the appalling lack of customer care. 1) none of us received accommodations for being stranded. no hotel room, no lounge, not even a place to take a proper shower or refresh. Imagine 60 people after a 6 hour or so flight herding around one ticket booth! 2) we didn't receive boarding passes for the next flight until SEVENTEEN hours or so. they kept telling us to "come back in 2 hours" ... we came back in 2 hours, only to be sent to the back of the line (which was another 3-4 hour wait) and then advised again to "come back in 2 hours" ... which we did .. only to be sent to the back of the line once again. This went on all day ... as an American citizen, I couldn't even leave the airport if I wanted to! Not without a boarding pass, as then there was no guarantee that I would be re-booked for the flight next day. Net-net, the price for Emirates is not worth it. Better to travel to Asia via Turkish Airlines or an Asian Airline. Emirates has no sense of organization and zero sympathy for their passengers. They will no longer have my business. read more

I wish there is a zero or minus stars for that's what you deserve!! I booked my flight from Addis Ababa to Barcelona, however, when I noticed there will be a twelve hours overnight layover, I stopped the booking process and called the agent, and asked them if the airline/s will accommodate me on my twelve hours stay. And they suggested that I will have to speak with Emirates, then I did but Emirates response caught me off guard: their stuff member said "there is no way of knowing whether we accommodate you or not unless you book the flight first". Now, I am trapped, if neither the agents nor the airline know about accommodation, then is there a third party I will have to speak with? Despite such convoluted and unprofessional response by the airline and the agents, I went ahead and booked my flight, because "I have to book my flight for them to know about my accommodation" A minute or two after I booked my flight, I called them (vayama and emirates) now, all of the sudden both emirates and vayama know that I will not have accommodation, so I will have to spend 12 hours lingering in the airport. I am not forcing them to accommodate me but at least they should have been honest with me all the way the process, and if I knew that they won't accommodate me then I will search for alternatives (different agent, different airline......) but they waited until they took the money out of my account and told me the bad news. As a matter of fact One of Emirates representative suggested..."since you have a US passport you can go to the city and do........" and I told her "I am not trying to spend from 8pm-8am walking around the city with my luggage and plus I want to sleep..." then she replied "I don't know what to tell you..." According to the Emirates' representative I have to fulfill one of the requirements to be qualified for accommodation: I have to spend at least $900 or my layover has to be over hours and evidently my layover is over 12 hours yet Emirates denied me accommodation. But the most embarrassing of all is that when I asked for a supervisor- every one of their representatives told me that there is no supervisor. The other thing I didn't tell you is that when I booked the flight I used skyscanner and in their website it clearly said that I can cancel my flight within 24hours with no penalty. Therefore, I put my personal and credit card information (thinking I was booking through skyscanner) and towards the end of the process, it says "if you have any question...contact vayama) If I knew that I was doing business with vayama, I would have not followed through for I know how bad of a scammer they are. Since they don't have shorter layover nor they are not willing to accommodate me, I am not willing to spend 12 hours in the airport, therefore, less than an hour I booked my flight, I called them back to cancel my tickets yet I was told that they are going to charge me $100. I dispute the charge because the website clearly said 24 hours and it has not even been 2hours when I called them back. And vayam's representative named Dan (I don't know if that is his real name) told me that the 24 hours grace pried is on skyscanner not on vayama so the 24hours rule doesn't apply to vayama. And then I told him that I didn't book the flight through vayama, but through skyscanner but skyscanner somehow linked me to vayama. I feel like there is some sort of conspiracy by Emirates, Vayama and skyscanner taking place and travelers need to take extra-precautions and if you can avoid them all. read more

My Wife and I took a round trip from US to India with emirates. On our ongoing leg i.e. US to India we were surprised when our plane changed and all our seat preferences and meal preferences got changed. Frustrated we settled with what we got. But on our returning leg we were shocked when the flight got cancelled and we were put in a different flight with not preferrable timings. This change meant I will reach on a Monday (office day) and miss my office. After having a lot of hassle we somehow got ourself booked in another flight that reached SFO on a sunday but we had to wait for a long time for our layover in Dubai. We were shocked with this service and with no one to support and help. We pay extra for emirates because of the quality and customer experience but this time it took a blow. My wife and I decided that we will not be taking this flight in future. read more

Worst airline I have ever experienced, horrible! In addition to the horrible treatment I have received previously. And the poor customer service I received to rectify the situation and lack of desire by the airlines to rectify. I had to change my flight which was leaving from Tehran to now leave from Beirut  Everything was all set..I paid the difference and the fee  Then this morning I receive information that I have been re-routed and will be arriving to San Francisco on the 14th of December instead of the 13th, interesting....because I actually have work on the 14th and no one from the company asked my permission as to what flight was best suited to my schedule, they just took it upon themselves to change my flight and then email me the changes. Now. I completely understand that there is a problem with the booking I had made and your company was forced to change my booking due to a flight cancellation out of Beirut, However what I have a problem with is that I was not referred to in making this change...no one asked my permission, they simply made the change.. I am now set to arrive into San Francisco at 12:45pm on the 14th and I actually have work that day, so what should I say to the hospital? This is unacceptable! Furthermore I was treated very poorly by customer service representatives in Tehran who would not acknowledge the problem with this. They simply wanted to change the flight. I know my flight will be 're-routed appropriately, that is a MUST ! I do not need the customer service representative to tell me she will do it without charging me, there should be no reason I am charged .. I am very upset for multiple reasons. 1. My experience with Emirates from start to finish has been awful 2. This is my last day with my husband in Iran and I have been made upset by the way I have been dealt with by Emirates.  3. I will be leaving to Beirut this evening and have already booked and paid for my hotel there which the last night I won't even be there since I have had to call and speak to your customer service and let them know that the way they have rebooked my flight is incorrect. So now instead of leaving Beirut 00:55 on 13th of Dec I am leaving the 12th, so I want compensation for the loss of this night from your company. I assure you I will NEVER fly with this airlines again, from start to finish it has been a horrific experience. This Emirates mints money from the passengers if there is change in plan. I had a situation where I need to reschedule itinerary and as first time I have paid 200$ . But there was some delay in US embassy because of technical issues and I have to reschedule my itinerary but again they made me to pay 400$ for two tickets with out giving any options as open ticket option read more

Horrible experience with customer service. I had booked a flight from Kolkata to San Francisco via Dubai. I had qualified for the Dubai connect program, which would let me get hotel/visa at Dubai for the long overnight layover. So I confirmed the hotel booking well before the flight. At a later date, I called in to add an extra luggage to my ticket. Little did I know, they had dropped my hotel reservation while making the change. I came to know of this mistake at the check-in counter on the day of my departure. The people of the check-in counter were of no help although it was a fault on their side -- their only reply they cannot confirm a hotel in such a short notice. It was only after a couple of stern calls to customer service incurring heavy international roaming charges was I able to convince them to try to make alternative arrangements. Why even have such a program if you cannot live up to your commitments? read more

I travelled with Emirates this week. Feb 9th and return was Feb 25th.I must say on a 16 hour flight the food and service was horrible. The food was more like a confused indian/English dish. No taste just absolutely horrible. And the crew was as though we were a burden on them. Not once did I see s smile. And for your info, I myself was a flight attendant. Please please rearrange your menu. Make it english.or Indian. Dont try to combine. And your passengers are not patients at a hospital . There are your guest. How bad can you go with an omelette. That was horrible too. I hope my review will be taken into consideration. read more
