It is easy to come up with instant conclusions when it comes to airlines based on our first experience. It's like a bad first date, you'll say after the date: "NEVER AGAIN". Same is true with airlines, there's some I will never fly with again. That being said when it comes to Cathay Pacific, this was not the case. What is the most important things to look for with an airlines? Punctuality? Cleanliness? Food quality? Leg room? Customer service? Cathay checked off all those for me on my first flight with them. All the flights were on-time. The cabin was clean enough, but I'll refrain from making a comment regarding some of the customers who fly on Cathay Pacific and their cleanliness. Cathay has some of the best airplane food, I usually hate the food but their food is good. And every meal comes with Haagen Dazs, so that is a plus. Leg room was sufficient which is absolutely necessary for a 15 hour flight to HK. Customer service was friendly. So just based off first impressions, Cathay gets a passing grade. Please avoid this airline. I booked 2 round-trip tickets to Vietnam and paid $691 extra fees for the exit seats. When we checked in at the airport, the seats were changed to regular middle seats, and our exit seats were given to someone else. I asked for a refund of the fees and the ticket agents told me to contact their 1-(833) 933-2244 for the refunds. I must contact them more than 10 times and promised the return of fees but they didn't do it. Their agents would say anything to get you off the line. I would never fly this airline again. Literally worst flying experience to date, with multiple flights to and from Asia a year for the last 9 years. Would never fly with them again. First flight we boarded on time, but was delayed sitting at gate due to what the pilot said was fueling issues, as in they initially requested the wrong amount of fuel for the trip. This resulted in the flight being delayed 3 hours into Hong Kong. At this point everyones connecting flights were missed. They put us on the next available flight to Bangkok (10 hours later), boarded on time... and again sat at the gate for another 2 hours due to another operational issue. The ground staff made a massive baggage loading error and the entire plane was out of balance. Overall, this resulted in nearly a 14 hour delay into my final destination, causing to miss the most important appointment of my trip, making the entire trip a complete waste of money and made it impossible to enjoy the time in which I did have in Thailand because of it. After many emails and phone calls with their customer care team, they were unwilling to even follow their on policies and procedures on their website when it comes to flight delays and significant changes to trip. Customer Service Is Awful!!! I was traveling with my family, I booked separate tickets because Cathay didn't have the option to book directly from Little Rock, Arkansas to our final destination Bali, Indonesia. Our little rock flight was delayed by 30 minutes. I called Cathay customer service to assist, due to the possibility of us missing our flight from Dallas to San Francisco. The Customer Service rep.would not listen. She continuously told me I was delusional and not thinking in reality. There was no way I would make the flight. She then connected to her supervisor who continued to ignore what I was say and was equally insulting and insensitive. His only solution was to pay an additional $2000.00 over the $8000.00 I had spent and delay my trip by two days. The information he was providing was WRONG. If he would have JUST listened, the flight from Dallas to San Francisco was NOT an international flight, there would be NO three hour wait. After essentially being called stupid, I just got off the phone. He continued to try to get me to cancel the flight and reminded me if I waited and boarded the flight to Dallas it would be too late, and that he was 100%positive we would not make the flight. There was no way to make it through customs and demanded to talk to the American Airlines rep who told me I would be cutting it close, bit the terminals were not far a part. What would have been helpful would have been if the Cathay Rep. would have actually called and confirmed check-in process, explained the situation, as opposed to berating me. He would have then hopefully been informed that there was no rechecking process, there was only a documents check, AND that the flight was delayed by 1 hour, which meant we would most likely make the flight! I got a notification just 1 week before my departure that my flight got cancelled. They offerred to give alternative but said that I have to wait for final approval. Chase also guaranteed that they will help me get my flight rebooked since I booked this using Chase Ultimate Rewards paying with my Chase Sapphire Card. They really messed me up!!! On Feb 8, Sat around 8:20-8:45p.m. I had a HORRIBLE experience, when I was lining up for the self check-in for my flight for the Cathay Pacific Airways. A worker named Jenny told us "Don't line up it's useless, no one will help you guys, do it yourself over there" and we said we didn't mind waiting but they kept telling us to go over there. But we saw people getting help when checking in. When we went to check-in for the luggage's, I was talking to my family telling them that there are workers providing help, why did they say no one would help us then?Jenny heard our convo and said "yeah we do have people providing help" in a bad attitude then we said "why did you say no one would help us then? I saw people getting help, there are three workers helping" that were in a navy blue uniform. Then her coworker, Rainie came over and called us stupid quietly, so we asked if they just called us stupid, Rainie then yelled "yeah we are calling you stupid" So we asked why they're being so mean, they said "yeah we are mean like that" I felt SO shocked by this service that I have never experienced before coming here and I told them that I will file a complaint, Rainie yelled"I don't care complain however you want" in a narcissistic attitude. I asked them for their name tag and Rainie said " HERE HERE LOOK" while pulling her tag in our faces. After Rainie left I tried to let the situation pass but I had to file a complaint so other customers don't experience this, but Jenny said she can't let us see her name tag but she can tell us her name. I asked if she could bring me to see her supervisor and then she said "I am busy go by yourself" I went to find the supervisor myself and talked to the supervisor Johnny, telling him about the whole situation and the only thing he said was "we'll handle it" and then we left the check-in. When we were walking, we realized that they could've taken our pictures earlier because both of them had their phones out and we saw that it looked like they were taken a picture of us but we weren't sure so we wanted to check. We went back and saw the three of them talking, when we asked nicely to see if they took any pictures, Jenny and Rainie took their phones out, Rainer said "you don't have the right to see, fuck you" They put their phones in my face, shaking it around and the supervisor didn't even say ANYTHING after this. so I felt like they didn't care AT ALL and hoped that they really didn't have any of our pictures taken. I asked to file a complaint and he asked for the name of the customer, saying that he will handle it and report it to the manager, but based on his behavior it didn't even feel like he cared at all, so I wanted to file a complaint on my own and he ended up giving me the QR code where I would file a complaint. The airline refused to refund $200 of my "Free cancellation within 24 hours" fare even though I cancelled well within 24 hours. After wasting over an hour talking with customer service reps, the next day a "supervisor" called to follow up. Long story short: when he learned I was an American and was already in the Philippines, he began making leering remarks like "Two hundred dollars goes a long way there. You must be surrounded by hot Philippine women." I told him i was with my Philippine girlfriend. HE DEMANDED TO TALK TO HER. I thought this was nuts. WHY? But I thought maybe he wanted to verify my story. I said I'd put her on for ONE MINUTE but he had to "Behave. Nothing sexual. Don't be rude. She's not a prostitute. She's my girlfriend." He promised. She got on the phone. His first two words to her were "How much?" That abruptly ended that. I complained to Cathay Pacific, who said they'd investigate. I know some haters out there are always trying to bring down the Cantonese side of China, claiming that we aren't the "real" deal because we don't speak Mandarin and all that. But we got two things that own our Northern brothers and sisters: better food, and Cathay Pacific. And when you fly Cathay Pacific, you get a mix of both! As part of the Hong Kong brand, it's no surprise that this global city has to keep up its reputation with an amazing carrier. I was ecstatic to be able to fly Cathay (Economy) during my Winter holidays from NRT - HKG, connecting through to Manila. If you want a comfortable and great experience flying over the Pacific to the East, then this is a great option for you all to consider. Allow me to break it down. Luggage: Like most major airlines, you are allowed two check-in luggage, along with a personal carry on and one smaller item (ie purse, fanny pack, etc.) Each check-in luggage can weigh 44lbs max, so with two check-in allowance, that's a whole lot of Chinese souvenirs you can bring back to the States for your family and friends. Accommodations: Flying economy was a joy in itself! On long haul flights, you will be provided with a blanket, pillow, and in-flight sandals. Not bad! The amount of leg space I had was perfectly fine. There was definitely at least a few inches of free space between my legs and the seat in front of me. In-Flight Entertainment: Thank goodness they allowed us to use our own headphones! Don't you hate it when airlines make you use their ridiculously low-bass, lack of sound cancelling headphones? Yeah... thumbs down for those. Nevertheless, Cathay delivered in a variety of entertainment options, and had some of my personal favorite Hong Kong action flicks available. Hell yeah! However, I gotta admit that it was a bit frustrating when my aircraft had the controls attached to the seat itself. Hopefully you get lucky and your aircraft will have it be removable. Service: I loved the red outfits that they wore on board! Everyone on board Cathay was so sweet, and if you pay a little extra for your ticket, the crew manager will personally come over to greet you and thank you for your patronage. (Not that I did... but it was nice to see that gesture!) The amount of sexy British English that was coming from the pilot and the attendants was overly wonderful too. Food: Definitely a nice blend of Cantonese and Western cuisine for the hungry air passengers. I loved Cathay's food! On my way to HKG, I was served a BBQ Pork noodle dish, and on the way back- a rice entree that wasn't half bad. Honestly my favorite part was that they gave us Haagen-Daz for dessert! Absolute win on my part... and of course beer. Keep em coming please. Even if you have a layover in HKG, you won't be bored. There are so many great restaurants there, and the airport itself is gorgeous, and much better than any American airports I've flown to. Be sure to bring your own plug adapters though. They only have British plugs, so bring that converter to ensure you make use of the free wi-fi. Cathay also saved my butt when I missed my budget airline flight from HKG to MNL. Even on the short haul flight, they still gave us a meal and the same amount of service as you'd expect from any flight. Love Hong Kong, and love Cathay Pacific. No other Chinese airline can compare to this, so I would absolutely love to fly them again in the future... and maybe more so if they weren't tied to the terrible American Airlines on oneworld. This review is based solely on the call centre customer service - or lack there of! I've spent hours and hours trying to reach a competent agent in order to possibly amend a flight and, after being hung up on and passed onto one agent after the next, I finally manage to get a hold of what I hoped would be someone who could assist me. I explain what I would like done, pay the hefty additional sum only to later find that my flight has been downgraded from Premium to Economy without my consent nor knowledge. Yet another couple of hours with incompetent agent after incompetent agent, inept supervisor after inept supervisor and finally my reservation is amended back to it's original status and I'm now to await the refund for the hefty additional sum I had just paid. For a leading airline such as Cathay Pacific, the sheer and utter lack of competency of it's customer service staff is beyond fathomable. We had a great experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines on our trip to Thailand. We upgraded to premium economy. I have read some misconceptions about the difference of Premium economy on CP. I've heard people say economy plus is not worth the upgrade as the only difference from regular economy is 4 inches of leg room. This is true for United Airlines, however there is a huge difference between economy plus with United and premium economy on Cathay Pacific. CP premium economy is more like the old business class with an extendable foot rest, 20 seat private cabin section, warm washcloth to freshen up, champagne, better cuisine, larger TV screens, free drinks, and better service. Deceptive practices. I will never fly again with Cathay Pacific. They were contracted to run the "free" giveaway for tickets to Hong Kong (it's not free, by the way) and their promotion campaign was a first come first serve launched several months before the giveaway. It wasn't well communicated when the exact date would be until May so I spent several months routinely checking their site. They encouraged you to sign-up for an account for their site for the promotion. Once the day of the actual promotion apparently they started it earlier than their specific time. Okay, that's annoying, but I still did it. Once I managed to sign in (yes there was a queue to sign in), if you make any mishaps then the website will kick you out and you'll have to go to the back of the queue. However, if they make a mistake, you'll be screwed out of the ticket with them giving you a boiler plate answer that it's too bad for you now. Basically I was signed into their website, picked the flight dates and all, entered all the personal information, applied the promotion code for the "free tickets", but when it came to the payment screen, the web page never finished loading. You only get 30 minutes before you get kicked back out and need to queue again. Because their website stopped working (I sent them a screenshot of it and timestamp so they can gauge that there were still the promotional tickets at that point) and they just gave me a boiler plate that the promotion is over now. And their customer service is absolute crap. It takes them 4-12 hours just to connect to an agent. I will never ever fly or interact with Cathay Pacific again. Expect wasted time through months of dealing with them, and expect them to cheat you out of whatever their promotion promises you. read more

We have used Cathay Pacific many times in the past and it is one of our favorite airlines. Unfortunately this time things did not go as well as usual. Or initially scheduled aircraft had a technical problem in Hong Kong and had to be replaced. This delayed our departure time by two hours. The plane that we did fly to Hong Kong was old, dirty and well used. All that being said, the service was good, the food was average and the flight attendants friendly It was a safe flight. On a 14 hour flight it's torture if you get stuck in the middle of a four row and the guy in front of you leans his frickin chair ALL THE WAY BACK!!!!! 3) Even paying a higher premium cost compared to other discount airline tickets, you still have to wait two days before the trip to reserve your seat OR pay $45.00 each way to reserve your seat early. I reserved an aisle seat 2 days in advance and on the day of the flight, they changed me to an interior seat in a middle four seat configuration. I asked the stewardess and they said there was nothing they could do because the plane was full. Having the jerk in front of me recline his seat ALL THE WAY BACK for 14 hours was the ultimate torture experience! NEVER AGAIN Cathay Pacific!!!! There are a lot cheaper SFO - HKG flights from your COMPETITORS, that you can pick your seat at the time you book your flight MONTHS IN ADVANCE. This is has to be one of the worst airlines I've ever flown with and I've traveled extensively (all 7 continents, 33 countries so far). The customer service was horrendous and if you ever have a medical emergency don't bet on the crew to have functioning equipment or knowing how to operate them. 1. I had to assist a man who had a medical condition during a flight (I'm a healthcare professional) and in the process found that their sphygmomanometer (blood pressure monitor) was so old and had been unchecked that the rubber tubing was so brittle it broke off. Additionally, their crew didn't seem to know how to use it. 2. I had to book a flight on such short notice as my mom had passed away. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my return flight to SFO from Honk Kong was not until the next day after the first leg of the trip. I asked if I could reschedule for an earlier flight that had available seats and even offered to pay for an upgrade if needed. Their WhatsApp customer service took so long to reply it was basically ineffectual and when I tried calling the 1-800 number like many here I got nothing. 3. A few other in flight issues, which to me are not a big deal especially considering all the other issues but they're often out of the food choices on the menu and the inflight entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. They committed to certain seats for babies and could not provide, they sold us specific seats for car seat, and it wasnt fit. Luckily we entered into the picture to check what is going on. The escort could do morning in the immigration, but as assigned escort, he need to call us and discuss the issue. I would like to make all potential Cathay Pacific customers aware of the embarrassing and rude customer service my husband and I just received from a Cathay Pacific Customer Service Representative at the Hong Kong airport. We are on our way back from our honeymoon which original route was from USA to Hong Kong to Bangkok. The inflight experience is excellent at Cathay - unfortunately that is where that service and experience stops. We were mocked and spoken poorly about right in front of our faces and in front of other passengers for presenting our business class lounge ticket that was for "post departure" between our 11 hour layover from Bangkok. We had originally booked premium economy and were upgraded to business for the short flight (BKK to HKG). When they did this the check in attendant gave us passes to the lounge for when we arrive in Hong Kong, which was very helpful since we landed at 10:50 and don't depart until 9:30 the next morning. This was never honored. Instead, we have been waiting in the airport and finally went to the lounge when it opened at 5:30am and were turned away because our flight that got in last night at 10:50 was only good for the lounge until midnight (about 1 hour), when our flight to America leaves at 9am. The representative stopped us from going in the lounge and did not do it in a nice way at all. No recomwndation on where to go, no sympathy for us waiting around all night to finally get into the lounge. The saddest pet of it all, is the demeanor and attitude change as soon as she saw my American passport. She and her friend immeditelaty started talking and laughing in another language. This was very uncomfortable. This has been a horrible experience overall starting off with our bags being lost and never leaving the USA when we started our honeymoon travels in Bangkok. We had to go looking for clothes around Bangkok for the first half of the day since we were without any luggage. I think the biggest fear of two newlyweds on the other side of the country with oversize baggage (that I paid $150usd to cover for) showed up with 0 bags. Needless to say, the experience has been on edge and not relaxing whatsoever due to all of the mishaps. I really wish there can be a zero star available so that I can give it to Cathay Pacific. They've provided absolutely horrible service for our flight of CX 873 on December 23, 2010. We took a Cathay Pacific flight from SFO to Hong Kong, then we'd need to take a Cathay Pacific connection flight from HK to Guangzhou. On the first flight, the flight staff notified the on-flight passengers that the plane had to stop at Taipei airport for gas as a sudden change of plan, which would cause delay, but they repeatedly promised the connection flights will wait for all passengers. We believed it, but we thought wrong. By the time we got to HK, there was already some CP crew waiting for us at the airport. They told us our flight had taken off, though at that time, we were only 20 minutes late (they could've waited for us like they PROMISED), they said we now need to take a bus to Guangzhou that would take 3-4 hours! (the flight would take 50 minutes) At that point, there was NO apologies, NO explanation, NO compensation, as if this sudden alteration at the expense of customers was completely justifiable. Just when we thought that was the end of this ordeal, we thought wrong again. It was barely the beginning of a horrible experience. Since now we had to take out our luggage at HK airport (supposedly they'd be transferred to Guangzhou if we were to take a flight), there were totally 28-30 of CP passengers who needed to connect to Guangzhou, we had to wait for everyone's luggage to come out, which took almost 2 hours. There was no organization or planning from the Cathay Pacific end. Their poor execution capability was at the expense of our physical enduring and our precious time. At that time, we were already very tired after a 14-hour flight, thinking of the long bus ride ahead was agonizing. When everyone got their luggages, FINALLY. We thought we could board the bus, but Cathay Pacific didn't provide their own bus, they brought everyone to the bus terminal, asking some third-party bus company to help us, again, everything was decided last minute, there was essentially ZERO planning. The bus company didn't have any bus available at that time, people started to get desperate and agitated. In the end, the bus company used multiple small vans to get everyone to another bus station as the solution!!!! There were so many of us, and so many luggage, everyone wanted to go in first, OMG, what a horrific experience. By the time we got to another bus station, Cathay Pacific staff had already gone, they were completely hands off at this point. There was no help, no explanation, no apologies, no compensation. Every time, anyone who questioned how unprofessional this was handled, the staff was saying, this was beyond his power to solve. There was nothing he/she could do. Again, we had to wait for everyone to arrive, it took again another 2 hours. When everyone finally arrive with their loads of baggage (because people thought they'd travel with a plane, not a bus!), the bus was too small to hold all the people and all the luggage. After numerous negotiation between the passengers and the bus company people, it was decided that some of the luggages would be placed on the passenger seats and on the isle! We were too exhausted and angry to think further, we just wanted to get to our destination... After a few hours of bus ride, we arrived in Guangzhou past 4pm. Our original plane was supposed to land in Guangzhou at 9am!! Cathay Pacific utterly demonstrated unprofessional way of handling the whole process. All they offered us was REALLY BAD experience. There is no justification that people should be treated like this by a service they have paid for and once trusted. Cathay Pacific, I would like to ask, is this the way you want to serve your customers? You can count me out for sure, I would NEVER take Cathay Pacific in my life time. I will make sure my family and friends will not take this airlines ever. read more

I use to really dig Cathay. They had it all...pretty flight attendants, nice flight attendants, and cute flight attendants. My last time flying with them I was sorely disappointed. The flight attendants were still cute and all, but they just really didn't seem to want to be there. The one I saw the most, and not very often, was pouty and tired. When I had reluctantly got up for the bathroom, the place was a total pigsty! Trash was everywhere in the aisles. It seemed like nobody cared. This was truly service without a smile. And the new fangled seats! Don't even get me started. So they are permanently reclined which made it very difficult to get to the window seat and back. There was still a reclining button, but all it did was slide the seat bottom out! This is not their fault, but to add to the misery I was sitting next to a young husky kid from China who had no clue about personal space. I had to fight fire with fire and shove his arms and legs back ad nauseum throughout the flight. I had just flown EVA on the inbound flight and wow it was a total delight. Wish I had flown with them back to the states as well! (P.S. The lady who checked me in at HKG was very nice and friendly, so kudos to her!) read more

Fabulous! I was invited to go on a work trip to Hong Kong and Thailand, which was partially sponsored by Cathay. I was listed for a priority upgrade to business class, which rarely, if ever pans out. When I arrived at the desk, they couldn't confirm the upgrade yet, so they invited me to go to the British Airways Terraces Lounge to wait until departure, when I did get the upgrade, luckily. It's a 15-hour flight to Hong Kong, and let me say that it was the first time I did NOT want to get off the plane! Service was amazing every step of the way and flying business class internationally for 15 hours was a definite treat. Lots of movies, food, drinks, snacks, room to stretch out. The return back was just as lovely (12 hrs as opposed to 15). If you see claw marks on the airplane door, that was me not wanting to get out of business class! read more

Change of plans and took the flight from Hong Kong back to SFO and enjoyed the "new premium economy" class on Cathay Pacific. More leg room, plus personal TV w/noise canceling headsets, iPod/phone charger, larger, wider seat, seat back storage, adjustable headrest, reclines further back, foot rests, center console, and still smiling flight attendants. Drinks when you board, open bar, and the flight attendants more than happy to get you a snack that's more than peanuts. Gonna use my United FF miles and get me some magazines to read while I fly Cathay Pacific. read more

I recently flew Cathay Pacific to and from Los Angeles / HKG. I thought I tried Premium Economy. I have to say it was pretty disappointed over all; Here are the break down. A. Seating was hard and uncomfortable for an extra $$$ we paid. This they get a 1 star and Cathay is only getting this is because of the leg room you get. But if you are tall forget it the extend leg foot rest really sucks!!! B. Entertainment is no better the coach this they get a 2 star because of the larger screen.Oh, on our return flight they gave my wife a seat with a broken video arm "See attached" what a joke when we complaint they try and use scotch tape to hold it up. Try to get a different seat for my wife they only have a middle seat and didn't really want to help. The attendance that came by they had attitude like we were bother by our request. C. Food is the same as Coach so what is the big deal about Premium Economy. Buyer Beware. D. On the way back we had emergency exit roll seat only because we switch with another passenger. The ticket agent and the gate agent could not help us. Poor attitude lack of customer service. Cathay Pacific have fallen way short of their mission from back in 2002 when I first started flying with them. Overall the whole experience is an F !!! E. Oh if you are part of an elite status with your airline and use them for direct asia trip, forget it you get no priority other then board with their Marco Polo members. Sometime you don't even get to earn miles with your airline for flying with them. Check your ticket and rules before booking. F. Lounge access in Hong Kong, what a disappointment, crowded, hot and the food selection was the worst I have experience. read more

My experience with Cathay Pacific was incredible! Very friendly and accommodating staff that goes over and above the call of duty. I flew them from Bangkok to Singapore earlier this year. I was lucky and got bumped up to Business Class. Why? I have no idea. Maybe the lady at the gate liked my smile and gave me the upgrade. I am not going to ask of course. I bought my ticket 1-day before the flight in Bangkok at one of those travel agency/cleaners/Internet cafe/massage parlor places. My intention was to buy a ticket on Air Asia (discount carrier) but a ticket on Cathay Pacific came up for only 700THB ($22) more than Air Asia so I went with Cathay Pacific. The next day when I check in at the airport counter, the lady smiles and gives me a Business Class seat. It was in the upper deck of their 747-400. Service was absolutely incredible! Their new business class seats are great. They are lay flat seat but at an angle. Very comfortable seats indeed. The service was very good. Prior to push back I had a few rounds of their champagne. They served Billecart-Salmon Brut Champagne. The starter meal was marinated and smoked salmon with vegetables and Parmesan cheese. The main course meal I chose was stir-fried pork with green peppercorns, steamed jasmine rice and sautéed cabbage and carrots. I passed on dessert as I don't really have a sweet tooth. I did have Cathay Pacific's signature drink Cloud Nine. It is a concoction of vodka, cointreau and Sprite and a hint of lemon flavor. At some point, I'd like to experience Cathay Pacific long-haul to Hong Kong from San Francisco. read more

I just got back from a month of travel in Asia, where I flew Cathay Pacific for three legs of my trip, and the staff was absolutely lovely all throughout. I could go into greater detail about all the things that went right, how the flight attendants were very friendly and accommodating, but I will just narrow it down to two highlights from my positive experience - - Flying from Hong Kong to Bangkok, I was given a FREE upgrade to business class, just for asking nicely (I think I was also just plain lucky that there was a lot of availability on that flight). It was my first time flying business class, so I really appreciated the fancy dinnerware, specialty drinks, and the fact that the attendants refer to you by name. - Flying from Shanghai to San Francisco (with a layover in Hong Kong), a flight delay caused me to miss my connecting flight to SF. Cathay resolved this by providing a meal voucher, putting us up in a 4.5 star hotel with complimentary breakfast buffet, comping transportation to and from, and letting me switch to the later flight the following day. Things happen, nobody likes having their travel plans disrupted, but I would not expect most airline companies to make even half as much of an effort to make things right. As far as other comments I have - I thought the food was good, the entertainment a bit lacking, and the website/app in need of improvement. read more

I flew Business Class from SFO to BKK via Hong Kong. I must say, for people that spend thousands of dollars to fly business class, they should really concentrate on fixing all of the broken items on the seats...head rest was ripped, arm rest was coming apart in layers, I could see through a huge crack in the wall straight to the fuselage. I was quite disappointed in their attention to the well, not so little details...it made me wonder what their airplane maintenance is like. Coming from an airline family, I know that maintenance is of the utmost importance for passenger safety. Now then, you probably ask, why did I give them 4 stars. I gave them 4 stars because the instances above were only on one flight and their flight attendants were simply amazing. Cheerful, happy and attentive... Also having a flatbed seat made the 14 hour flight a breeze. The flight lounges are also a huge benefit to flying upper classes. I was able to shower, eat, drink and relax for no additional charge. That was a huge touch. Comparing Cathay Pacific to all the other airlines I flew, I would say the y are hands above most American carriers. United I know has a nice upper class, but American, Delta, Continental COME ON...wake up! I will say, British Airways still has the best business class I've been on, and that was before their flat bed seats. (don't think I'm a snob for writing about Biz class...I talked my way up on British air and cashed in miles for Cathay Pacific!) read more

3+ hour delay so far, still waiting at a crowded terminal with no agent at the desk, connecting flight on different airline but booked through Cathay is no longer a possibility, but can get no answers from Cathay on booking a new connection. I have a dog in the kennel and an extra night will cost me $50 US. Lady at check in told me I could use the lounge, but the lounge said no when I got there. Cathay Pacific lost a customer. read more

When booking with CATHAY PACIFIC AIRLINES BEWARE !!! It's one of the worst airlines ever which has no proper services for the customers boarding the flight. And denies taking responsibility for the inconvenience caused by them. My dad is traveling with Cathay Pacific. His flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong got delayed by 45mins and his flight from Hong Kong to Delhi (India) got redirected to Kolkata and then to Delhi. But, He reached Kolkata and He had to collect all his baggage at Kolkata. Still unaware of the flight status from Kolkata to Delhi (He paid for extra baggage to collect it at Delhi). He has another flight from Delhi to Visakhapatnam with a domestic airline - Indigo which my dad couldn't board because of the delay and inconvenience caused my Cathay Pacific airlines. The cathay Pacific representatives denied taking responsibility to rebook/send him by the next available flight to Visakhapatnam (he has booking with all the extra baggage already paid for). read more
