Brought my buck I shot on opener here, they took care of everything and I eventually got the head back a couple months later but I had to wait for the venison and meat sticks. After waiting a year I called asking why it was taking so long for my deer to be processed, turns out they "lost" it and there's nothing they can do. If you bring a deer here for processing then don't expect it back, and you're welcome to the customers who are eating my venison that this place "lost". read more

My husband had a lot of trouble getting his deer processed here. Him and his buddy dropped off two deer here on the third weekend of deer hunting in November. They didn't get a call back until May for the order pickup. When he went to pick it up only half of the order was finished. So they said they would have it finished within a week and to pick it up after that. We tried to pick it up four weeks later and they still didn't have it done. They also took 20 minutes to find out where the meat and order information was located. All in all their products are decent but there organization and customer service seems nonexistent. The woman at the counter was very snide and essentially told him to wait for a phone call when for when it's done because it wastes the employees time looking for the items (even though they have lost it multiple times). I'm not sure if we will ever get the rest of our order. We will not be getting our deer processed here in the future. read more

This is a perfect smaller town butcher shop. They have everything that you would expect, and to be honest everything that you would need in the meat department. Expect full butcher service, food smoked meats, a full brat selection, and some basic grocery items. What you wouldn't expect is amazingly fair prices on everything. If you don't want back the animal you sent there to get processed, I then encourage you to go to Emily Meats. Not sure how you can get back 8 packages of pork chops on a 200lb plus pig. No communication how long it will take and I hope everyone that purchased meat from their "meat sale" last weekend are enjoying the meat I didn't get back. A stop at Emily Meats is always required when we go to visit my parents. Great variety at reasonable prices. Brats today made with wild rice as filler they are delicious we also bought bacon to have BLT's for supper. Butcher case has fresh meat options, staples available if you need them. I LOVE this place! Very helpful and knowledgable staff that always give best recommendations! It's a mandatory stop while going up to the cabin for us (Just North of Emily). Their meat sticks are to die for! They have unique flavors that fun but most importantly, always tasty! (Which is what really matters!) Every time we stop by, there are new exciting flavors and the staff is always willing to help you find your personal favorite or just a new flavor or help buying for a friend/family. (My dad requires I bring him home meal after every visit up north and he LOVES them). I've never brought any deers here for processing, but the sales they have on meat are the best! Their cheese is also bomb! During deer season they are always busy (for obvious reasons, who doesn't want their venison?!) But I've gotten antler for my dog from here and they gave them to me happily, FOR FREE! I also LOVE to buy their meat bones for my dog here. (There is a cooler near the door full of bones with mean (smoked and raw) and some other random body parts like ears. They are priced very reasonably and my dog goes CRAZY for them! I also love this place because they employee local kids, some who might have a little rough past or just some kids looking for a solid job. Probably the 'worse experience' I've had is sometimes they've ran out of the desired flavor of meat sticks, but they are more then willing to grab some from the back or apologize numerous times about the inconvenience. A little gem in Emily-- Great selection, tons of homemade options, very flavorful and unusual meat sticks and cheeses, and the folks behind the counter are always ready to go the extra mile for great service. My only complaint is the one super chatty cashier who seemingly would rather have a long line of customers standing around, balancing their purchases, than provide efficiency at checkout. I once joked with the counter person who wrapped my steaks when she said, "Can I get you anything else?" And I said, "How about a different cashier?" ;-) read more

This is my go to place every time I am in the area. Well worth a drive even if you're not close. The meats are incredibly fresh and the variety is amazing. I love the jerky, the cheese sticks, all the meat sticks. They have such a variety and every time I go I get something different and equally awesome. My families' cabin that we've had over 100 years is in 50 Lakes, just outside of Emily. As long as I can remember (except the 10ish years I was vegetarian/vegan) going to the meat market was a treat beyond treats. Sorry in advance to the owners and those employed at Emily Meats. My family has been coming here for years since our land is outside Emily, but I believe that tradition will be ending due to our recent experience. Although conveniently located for hunters in this area, I would recommend hunters avoid them. I brought my deer in to be processed here on the first day of the firearm hunting season since our land is in Emily.. Took until almost Christmas to get the steaks and other cuts of meat, but we had friends who brought their deer here on the second weekend that got their steaks weeks before us. They gave us tenderloins back even though we took ours out ourselves, which makes me doubt they actually give you the meat from YOUR deer or keep track of who owns the deer in their inventory. This makes me question their honesty when it comes to processing game. I have still yet to hear from them on when our venison sticks will be ready, even though they said they should have been done before the holidays (in a few days it will soon be February). Although the quality and seasoning of their meats may be good, there are some obvious issues I am concerned about. The fact they gave me someone else's deer - remember I got somebody's tenderloins after we took ours out- makes me wonder if they even keep track of the deer, or if they just weigh out the meat they think they owe you and fill the next order. Also, the lack of communication about pick up dates is astounding. If I am having to call you a month after when you claimed the order would be done, then you are not doing your job. I would never use them again for processing any game and will tell everyone I know this as well. Maybe this was a one time fluke, but it only takes one big mistake and a disgruntled customer to ruin your reputation. read more

First and foremost, the original poster was dead on when it comes to one thing. Emily Meats is known far and wide for the quality cuts and seasoning of their meats. As for the other points, the review read like something the struggling grocery store down the street would write. Anyone who has seriously brought their deer to Emily Meats knows that every animal is given a carcass tag, and the deer are returned quite literally in the order in which they are received. For over ten years, dating back to his time at the aforementioned struggling grocery store, the locals have largely had only positive things to say about the way Tracy runs his business. my boyfriend recently brought our 330+ lb organic non Gmo mangalitsa hams and bacon sides in to be smoked, first they lost the bacon and tried to exchange it for bacon from God knows who's pig.. after a complaint about the exchange they then said they found it but we only got 7- 1 lb packages of bacon back from a 330lb hog. then they cut all the hams into 3/16 of an inch ham steaks (the specified bacon cut thickness) ruining all of our hams. so after nine months of raising a special breed hogs and very carefully watching thier diets I don't know if we even got our bacon back and definitely not all of it. we cancelled our order for our next three hogs we just butchered and will never take anything there again read more
