When we first signed up the system was better in comparison. Since we have had it always has connection issues of some type. At first they called all the time since the alarm was set off for any little thing. Couldn't ever use motion detector sadly. Then after moving having pay large amount to get everything transferred over than still not working right after about week. Example alarm went off we turned off in less than 20 seconds with code. No call from EMG to ask about it but they did call the police so instead we have officers at door upset cause we had a "false" alarm even know we shut off and no one called us. No contact unless they want to talk to you. When attempt to call we are told they will call back. No return emails. Service just went down hill. Time to look for a new company. read more

Not wildly impressed. Actually not impressed at all. EMG came out to install an alarm system at my husband's new offices. The installer left filthy marks all over two freshly painted walls, ceiling tiles had the same dirty marks on them and weren't even replaced properly. One can only assume that they're going to show the same total disregard for a home as well. I had intended to have them come and set up a system at our home too, but no way after seeing this sloppy work. EMG alarm services located in Sarasota Florida. I personally have used their services at my current residence for seven years. Overall they are the absolute cheapest company that services Hillsboro in Pinellas County. The initial installation it's quite inexpensive and the monthly Alarm service is under $40 a month. This also includes a panic number that you can enter into the system that triggers the silent alarm and automatically sends the police. The few minor issues we've had with them have been taken care of quickly and efficiently. Minor issues like the battery needing to be replaced, sensor needing to be replaced I think they've only been here about 6 times and seven years. I think that speaks to the quality and character of their company. On the occasion when we have set the alarm off by mistake, they have called us so quickly that we never have time to call them first. This shows that they are on top of their alarm systems in the customers they are serving. I personally like the fact that they are basically locally based, even though its in Sarasota. This way if you would ever have major problems you could readily go in have a discussion with the supervisor instead of spending days on the phone. If possible I always try to use local services as I believe it makes it easier to deal with it the company's overall. Personally I would recommend this company, very highly. I have dealt with several of their competitors that are much much larger and not had the same degree of personalized service as I receive with Emg. Add to this that the prices are much lower and they are local and I think you found the winner. What's a girl to do? It's unfortunate that we would even think to have an alarm system, but hey that's the world we live in. read more

We signed a 2-year monitoring contract with EMG to monitor our house and a rental property since the rates were cheaper compared to the competition. However we found out last week that there was a power interruption at the rental property in July and soon after a failure of the alarm to communicate with EMG. An EMG rep informed us that they would charge $50/hour to investigate the error. Why did it take a month to find out about the communication failure? And after paying $50/hour (for who knows how many hours) what is the point of saving $10/month when you are locked in a contract and have no way of knowing if the monitoring is actually taking place? read more

Reviewing my latest experience with this company. Our contract has finally come to an end. I must say I am so excited to be done with this company. I hope that everyone considering EMG reads the other reviews listed here. The reviews warning people to stay away are spot on. My latest experience has reaffirmed this belief. I thought our contract may be coming to an end soon so I contacted EMG on Dec 1, 2017 to discuss the details. I was advised that the contract would be ending in Feb 2018. This month I called again to confirm that the contract has ended and to ensure our account was paid in full. This time, I was advised that there is an auto renewal and a written request is required to proceed with a cancellation which takes 30 days so there will be an additional charge. I explained that I had called previously and was not advised of this requirement. The rep referred me to an email address. I submitted a written request to cancel and asked for the additional charge to be waived due to the fact that I had called previously and was not advised properly. Their response was that there is no record of my call in December and that they will not waive the charge. I believe their company policy is to record all calls so I'm wondering why this call was not recorded??? I spoke with a young sounding woman and the call lasted for 5 minutes and 9 seconds on Dec 1 at 8:48am. I suppose they have won because we will pay but I just hope that others will avoid dealing with such a horrible company. read more

EMG came out and set up their monitoring on the existing alarm in our home. The tech was friendly and professional, and showed me how to use all the features of the existing system. We've never had any issues with EMG. We've had some power failures and EMG has been quick to call to verify the home was alright. I'm very satisfied. read more

Michelle's response is full of mistruths and false statements-- 1. I just went to Frontpoint, which will cost me about twice as much, but will effectively monitor the property--- this isn't about the cost or contract. 2. The alarm went off for greater than 2 minutes dozens of times, for 30 minutes once - NEVER got a call to check on us.. never had a cop notified. 3. BBB didn't reject my complaint... they asked if I wanted compense from my experience, and I said no, forget about it, I'm moving on --- so they said they would log it as a straight complaint - I could always change my response to them if that's what Michelle wants. 4. Never said I cancelled in November, I was talking about 3 weeks prior to the point I called. BTW- cut the check for the extra 30 days "service"; me being pissed about a contract doesn't mean you provided good service. Truly, if you had provided good "service", I never would have found out about the 30 day cancellation, because I never would have cancelled. read more

We had the service for just over 3 1/2 years. The start up was excellent, the technicians were very good, they came to the house twice during the contract period and we were happy with the service. However, when was time to sell the house and cancel the service, we had to make several calls before someone would call back. And the reps sounded annoyed or like they could care less. Beware of this company. They insist on the longest contract in the business. After I signed up, they told me I had to pay for year in advance. Then when I moved they told me I had to continue paying for the system in my new home and the one I sold. Then they said if I paid them $300, they would forget about the home I sold. EMG Alarm System has monitored my home alarm for over 8 years and I've been mostly happy with them. On the few occaisions when my alarm sounded, they have called me very quickly. Getting service appointments has been a problem because I work: I have to wait at home on a weekday waiting for the service technician. There are no evening or weekend appointments. In March 2018 I was notified that EMG has "joined forces" with Central Security Group (CSG) out of Tulsa Oklahoma. I don't know who will monitor my alarm or where they're located. I've read dozens of online reviews of CSG -- all negative horror stories, so I'm not thrilled with the new alliance. Nothing that EMG has sent me tells me who will actually maintain and service my alarm. My payments now go to CSG. Thankfully, I'm out of contract and my service is month to month. There are MANY horror stories online of people who cannot cancel or change their contract with CSG. I will be shopping for another - LOCAL - alarm company in Sarasota. read more

I am a customer for over three years, from the install to customer service there are no complaints. The install crew was great with explaining the system to my Father in law and brother in law. I had spoken to Sara, Ayla about a personal problem I was having, they were so accommodating to meet my needs, After Sara and Ayla approved what was needed a manager had to approve as well. I received a call from Manager Tammy, she was very understanding and accommodating. as far as the price, they were the cheapest and there was more service and equipment than any other company. We have had EMG since 1991. We are out of state 6months a year. Our home is worth millions. Someone has tried 3 times to break in, we had a fire, and storm problems. NEVER, EVER, had a single problem. EMG has saved my home and my belongings. Today I went to website for my friend to see, I was so surprised to see that there were pictures up that say Dominic S. wall was pristine until EMG. Very disturbing. This man pays $15.00 a month for the security, instead of trying to resolve the problem (which by the way doesn't look like a result of an alarm system). EMG would have solved the issues. I have had a great experience with this company. Anytime I've had a alarm go off I have always received a call moments after. The steps are quick and prompt and that's what I like. Now The calls I get on low battery and other nonemergency issues are at times bothersome, but without these reminders, there is no telling the situation I could potentially be in. This alarm company isn't worth the $. I agree with other reviews- if you call customer service during normal business hours, you can't get anyone on the phone (just a voice mail). They also required a written cancellation of service for a system they deemed obsolete & would no longer communicate with their system. Stay far away from this company. They sent me to a collection agency without sending me a final bill after cancelling my service with them. They don't seem to want to help me resolve the issue. I cancelled my bill on Feb 13, 2018 with Thea Colonna and then paid what I thought was my final bill and it cleared on Feb 24, 2018. Never got another bill and by end of March, I had a debt collector calling me. They now say my account automatically renewed for 2 years without telling me, but won't send me my contract outlining where it says that. And why would I cancel if I have to pay through May 2019? Thea Colonna did not make me aware of that upon cancellation. Now Stephen Cantwell with EMG tells me to pay up and won't send me the contact. When I asked for a copy of my contract, he only replied "if you're not interested in paying the bill, then please contact the debt collector lawyer." I will pay if I'm supposed to, but I would hope that they would want to help their customer understand the reason why they are being charged. There's only one positive review of this company on Yelp and there's a reason for that. They make it extremely hard to cancel, poor customer service and unethical business practices sending someone to collections without sending a final bill (if the bill is even valid). read more

This is a very screwed up outfit. The problem, as I see it is, you cannot diffrentiate my home from my business. You call me and tell me there's an alarm, but you cannot tell me which location. We finally get this straightened out. Next - at my home, the system works interrmettently and I get a call telling me there a connection problem, which has been the case since you installed it. You agree to come to fix it, but want to charge me for not doing it right in the first place, then you agree to make a service call for no charge and you never call to set an appointment. When I remind you of what you agreed to, you decline to take care of it, But guess what, you're going to have to come to collect your equipment. A trip anyway, when you could have just come to install it correctly, as you should have in the first place. I will post my experience in every social media location I can think of.
