I was in the wedding party for a wedding that took place here. The place itself is beautiful, very nice. However, the wedding planner/day of coordinator, well, let's just say they need a new one ASAP. The current one is unorganized, unprofessional and rude.
Pros, the place is gorgeous, tranquil, and obviously it has a lot of history. The spa, I while I personally did not utilize it, the bride was pleased.
The rooms in the inn are beautiful. The rooms in the lodge (and other buildings) are spacious, with a log cabin feel, although a little bit dated. Though, every room on the property seems to have a jacuzzi tub. The space for wedding was amazing, although a tad hot and humid (more fans would be appreciated, and more AC by the bar).
Onto the cons, which was mostly the wedding coordinator.
As one of the moh in the wedding, when the bride gave me the location of the wedding, I called immediately for a room, I was told to book the room for a wedding I am a guest at, "you have to speak to Marci, she's the only one who can do it." That is ridiculous, anyone at the front desk should be able to do it. It's booking a room! And to book it was a nightmare!
I left a message for Marci... and I pretty much called for a month, she was either not there or unavailable. I finally managed to get one phone call back! Which I missed by 5 seconds because I was in a meeting. Marci claimed in her message she never got ANY of my previous calls. Of course she was unavailable five minutes later when I called back. As it was getting nearer to the wedding and I still had yet to book my room, or get a hold of Marci, I finally asked to speak to the manager and/or owner the next time I called. Instead, I was given Marci's email.
Email worked a little better, I was able to set up my reservation. However, she spelled my name wrong (which is IN my email), which I emailed her back right away asking for my name to be corrected. Guess who never fixed my name! I showed up for my reservation, only to be told there was no reservation under my name After freaking out for a minute, the front desk was nice enough to let me use a computer to pull up my reservation on my email. Guess who never fixed my name on the reservation? I'll give you three guesses. The girl at the front desk easily fixed my name in a matter of seconds.
Moving on. Right after the reservation debacle was handled, my my best friend (and co bridesmaid) asked for Marci, or at least a lay out of the tables. Guess who never emailed the table set up... and of course was MIA. While she claimed it was emailed Wednesday evening (it should have been done a month before), the bride and groom left Thursday morning for the Emerson, so they didn't get it, and I didn't see it when I checked the brides email.
There were some other set up snags, but I won't go into detail. But I was majorly bothered when we were lining up, and she yelled at the flower girl and ring bearer for being a little... well, the way 2 and 3 year old children act.
If you are looking at this venue as a possible wedding site, it's beautiful. Just make sure you have your own coordinator. read more
