I just appreciate that the city still has at least 1 downtown adjacent lot they haven't sold out to private companies who gouge the citizens of Nashville and hurt local businesses by forcing customers to pay something like $45 for an hour of parking. While an event, like a Preds game, might spike the price to park here at MCC up to $20, it's typically just $15 to park here for an entire evening or day. You can walk pretty much anywhere in downtown from here if you like. So rather than pay the highway robbery of those other PNC and Metropolis lots (companies who regularly face lawsuits for price gouging and unethical business practices, including a recent Nashville settlement by Metropolis) I always opt for a spot here to walk. Just think, in another world/time/era, this would just be the standard with the city owning lots at reasonable rates and using that money for city improvements rather than private companies charging astronomical fees to line their own pockets.

We decided to not use a wedding planner, and Elizabeth and Samantha were top notch helping us plan such a large undertaking. At our first meeting with Elizabeth she had a folder with recommended vendors. We felt the best part about Houston Station is that ALL of the vendors are in the building, they are used to working seamlessly together, and Elizabeth has long standing relationships with them. At our planning meetings, Elizabeth and the vendors were finishing our sentences! That is how much they anticipated our needs. By the end of the wedding, we felt like Elizabeth and the staff were family. Elizabeth is no nonsense, runs a tight ship, and has the biggest heart of gold. She is a HUGE Alabama fan, and my husband is a HUGE Auburn fan. Of course we were married on the Iron Bowl. Elizabeth set up the grooms room with a TV for the game so my husband could watch it until the last minute. Even in the face of Alabama's loss to Auburn, she knew how special it was for my husband, and she graciously played along. Clearly, I can't say enough about the venue and the people. If you're looking for an upscale way to do it yourself, go to Houston Station. It is worth every cent.

Located in a converted warehouse Jeff and his business partners have created the ideal location that is tucked away south of downtown. From the outside, Houston Station doesn't appear to be anything at all. Was I surprised when I walked up the stairs! A mix of exposed wood and brick generates a very comfortable feel for this space which accommodates about 250 to 300 people. Forget all of the fussy rules, Jeff who is the facility manager emphasizes the flexibility and versatility of the event space. The space is handicap accessible and when you rent, you get the building for the entire day. A great kitchen and private rooms for preparation enhance the characteristics of the station to make other vendors happy. Also, a fantastic little outdoor terrace would be a fabulous place to chill in warmer weather. The possibilities are seriously endless!

This place is MASSIVE! We got there during the check in rush, and they had just had their systems…read moredown so there was hundreds of people in the lobby trying to check in. They had staff directing guests to different check in counters. I was able to do a mobile check in and get into a line just to pick up keys. I was given our keys and a map with the location of our room and the easiest way to get there. We headed out of the lobby and toward what we thought was were our room was, made it past Wasabi before we were lost. A bell hop stopped and asked if we needed help with our luggage, and though we didn't, we did need directions. Mike, kindly loaded up our luggage and walked us over to the correct tower and to our room. We would have never found it with out him. We saw many people through the week make it to the same place we did and get that same confused look. Not because the directions or signs aren't clear but because of how large this place is! Mike told us that this is the LARGEST non-gaming property in the country. Everything about this place is beautiful! I would love to have an indoor garden like this, it was so nice and peaceful even when there were thousands of guests roaming around during the day it was tranquil. They have an indoor river with boat ride, multiple resturants, shops and conference spaces. It was located right down the road from the Opryland Mall (which is also huge). The rooms themselves were like a normal hotel room, pillows were extremely comfortable. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did a great job while we were there. We did really like that they had 2 sinks one inside the bathroom & one outside as well as multiple mirrors. Made grtting ready for our conference much easier. The down falls were the walls are paper thin and you can hear people in the next room or in the hallways and the doors didnt shut fully without being slammed. I heard they are currently undergoing a 131M dollar expansion adding additional conference spaces, they had some closed roads in the area due to the construction but nothing to bad. I would love to stay here again, it was magical walking through the corridors.

The hotel is massive and very difficult to navigate. I joked the main topic of conversation throughout the week was how often you for lost and how many steps you'd taken. Due to its massive size you can stay onsite for days and not feel cooped up. There are multiple shops, restaurants, bars, a really nice fitness center and a water park. Conference area has better food than most conferences I attend. I wouldn't necessarily choose to stay here, keep in mind there are a lot of kids running around too, but other than the poor layout, it was a nice hotel

There was a fixed bar downstairs too, and then a makeshift one upstairs. I gotta say though, for the amount of people there (probably close to 200) it was just too small. I wasn't able to see the downstairs stage the entire time because of the amount of people. Upstairs wasn't as bad, but they had tables set up for you to stand at and those took up a lot of room. I would have definitely enjoyed it more had there been less people.
