Riley after staying at Emergency Vet Services of Lisle

I can't say enough nice things about Emergency Vet Services of Lisle!! Riley ate 40 Culturelle Probiotic & Multivitamins for kids. The first ingredient was Xylitol!!!! It kills animals. It goes immed to the liver, within minutes. Riley was extremely ill, required IVs, calls to poison control and the expertise of the doctors at Emergency Vet Services in Lisle. She stayed overnight and after tests, meds & IVs Riley is on the road to recovery!! Xylitol is very dangerous....Riley is one lucky dog and it looks as if her liver will repair the damage The only problem is that on regular days (M-S) they are closed from 8am til noon. We had to bring Riley home for 4 hours then back at noon. However, on holiday weekends they are open 24 hours. They have the kindest & compassionate doctors, vet techs and staff. They explain everything and answer all your questions!!!

I had a very scary situation this morning with my dog. To make a long story short, he was bleeding excessively from his butt. From the moment I called, all the way through the check out process and having my dog handed back to me, was wonderful. Since we obviously couldn't go in due to the recent pandemic, it made me feel so much better having the vet call me throughout the process and explain to me what she was thinking in terms of possible issues and what her plan was to find the issue. We were given a very clear explanation on what the issue is and how we need to take care of it so that he recovers properly. The staff here was so friendly and reassuring. They showed my little guy so much love and I couldn't have asked for a better experience and more patient people during such a scary time. Thank you so much for your help, you're all amazing and we can't thank you enough.

At the recommendation of our regular vet, we brought our dog here when she had a seizure one evening. Our dog is very old, so we were really expecting the worst. Dr. Stephenson and staff treated us so well. From our initial phone call to our interactions at the clinic, everyone was sympathetic, professional, and reassuring. They have an on-site lab and we're able to have blood work results back in less than 15 minutes, allowing them to quickly make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. By the time they were finished, our dog was almost back to her very old self. And by the next day, she was completely back to normal. We know our time is limited with this little one, but we really appreciated the calm, compassionate, sensible approach to getting her feeling well again.

Our dog partially tore her CCL last November so we scheduled a consult with Dr. Przywara. Right from the start we knew we were in great hands. He did his initial observation of our dog and then came to talk to my husband and I. He was so kind and reassuring, and he was INCREDIBLY thorough. He sat with us for over 45 minutes explaining the anatomy of a canine knee, the injury our dog had, the options to fix it, and answering any and all questions we had. He never pressured us into anything and helped to give us the information we needed to make the right decision. Although we tried a few nonsurgical therapeutic options first, we ultimately decided to do TPLO surgery in February in an effort to get our girl back to 100%. Dr. Przywara did a fantastic job. He and his whole surgical team kept us informed and gave very good and detailed instructions for recovery. They made a tough recovery so much easier. Our girl is now 9 weeks post TPLO and is almost back to 100%! At the end of our final recheck appointment when thanking Dr. Przywara for all of his work with us and Kona, he said "this is why I got into this profession - to help good dogs and good people." And THAT tells you everything you need to know - he's the exact kind of vet you want taking care of your dog!

I called ahead of time to check on pricing for the exam, etc., and one of the Vets answered and was so kind and patient while I explained what was going on. She reassured me they would walk me through a treatment plan we could handle after I brought her in. When I got there, I was met with the warmest, kind, helpful energy from every single person who worked there. From the person who did our intake, to the techs who did her initial vitals and administered her IV later on, (and cleaned up her mess on the way out - TY) to the Vet herself, I felt more than comfortable that they had my girls best interest in mind but were also realistic with what I could spend and how far we wanted to go with her care considering that she's 15.5 years old. After the vet examined her, I was sent a quote via email I could approve via my phone, and while I paid cash, they have an instant link you can pay for your services via credit card through email as well, which I found amazingly efficient and made what I was spending and what was included crystal clear so there was no anxiety about hidden costs. (I also found this place to be INCREDIBLY reasonable in their pricing compared to the other Vets I've gone to in the city). Special shoutout to the tech with the amazing mustache and the woman who administered her IV.... He was down on the floor, with my pup's head in his lap, petting her and saying the sweetest, most reassuring things while the other tech also just gave her such praise that we got some little exhausted tail wags out of her during what couldn't have been a comfortable process. It was just what we both needed in that moment, so thank you both so, so much. I was calm but pretty emotional, and I just felt safe coming here and would 100% come here again if needed, and recommend that anyone facing something like this with their fur baby come here too. The entire experience was quick, efficient, and again.... the kindness and genuine love they showed my baby was all I needed to know to feel comforted during a stressful moment. They took my cat in the back for a few minutes, and when they came back they told me, and I quote, "he would not let us look in his mouth" and that he was very dehydrated. I was then told to go to my primary vet. He wouldn't let them look in his mouth? Wtf does that even mean? Aren't you a goddamn emergency vet? And you acknowledged that he was dehydrated, but didn't give him any fluids or any form of hydration. Just told me to go to my primary vet. Well THEY told me to go to YOU. We brought our dog in while having significant respiratory distress. They tried to get him to breathe on his own by using High-Flow Oxygen, with no success, and had to put him on a Ventilator. Our dog was able to breathe in oxygen but was unable to exhale the carbon dioxide as it was getting trapped in his lungs. After numerous tests, they determined that he had Eosinophilic Bronchopneumopathy (EBP), a respiratory condition that was attacking his lungs, causing inflammation and an excessive amount of secretion build-up. Because of the inflammation, the secretion build-up was partly blocking his airwaves, preventing him from being able to expel the CO2, which is very toxic and dangerous. Although they were familiar with the EBP, they never saw an instance in which it impacted a causing the airways to get blocked. My dog was experiencing severely labored breathing and post-surgical complications and urgently needed oxygen support. I was already hesitant to come here due to the overwhelming number of negative reviews, but the emergency hospital I normally use did not have oxygen available. I arrived in a state of panic with a dog who was visibly struggling to breathe. What I was met with was shockingly cold, dismissive, and unprofessional behavior from a young woman at the front desk who clearly had no interest in helping or even pretending to care. Instead of compassion or urgency, I was asked, "Have we seen you here before?" When I said no and explained the emergency, her only response was, "Well this is why we tell people to call before they come in. We're full and can't take your dog." I was so taken aback by the rudeness and lack of empathy that I walked out, placed my dog back in the car, and then returned inside to address how inappropriate her response had been given the severity of the situation. While I calmly voiced my discontent, the only response I received was a dismissive "Mmmmhmmmm, ok" repeated a few times. No apology. No acknowledgment. No concern. Nothing. I was absolutely floored. This wasn't a scheduling issue or a routine visit. This was a dog struggling to breathe. The lack of etiquette, professionalism, and basic human compassion was astounding and deeply upsetting, especially in what could have been my dog's final moments. This experience fully validated every negative thing I had heard about this organization. By contrast, Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Naperville and Oak Brook, as well as THRIVE in Hoffman Estates, treated my dog with kindness, urgency, and genuine compassion over the following days. The difference was night and day. Those hospitals understood what emergency veterinary care is supposed to look like. VCA clearly does not. I will never bring an animal here again, and I will actively warn others to avoid this location. No pet owner should be subjected to additional emotional distress when they are already terrified for their animal's life. This was unacceptable, heartless, and profoundly disappointing.

In January I had brought my dogs in to my old vet after confirming the appointment that week to be told the appointments had been rescheduled, again! So I called Animal Medical Center and they were able to get my dogs seen together at the same time, on the day of the week I was available in a few weeks, not a month and a half. I was thrilled! Day off we got checked in and all the front of house staff was wonderful just during like the emergency visits. The wait was not long at all. The back of house staff were amazing. The vet tech that took all our information was incredible. Her name is Lauren and she took her time and actually listened to my concerns and made recommendations that might help my one dogs allergies, along with going over my concerns about both my dogs starting to get older, they will both be 13 this year. Lauren alone was enough to make me stay with this practice but it was not just her. All the other techs were so great not onto with us but with both dogs. The vet was kind, great with the dogs, and again something I did not even realize I felt was missing at my previous vet, she listened to my concerns and had recommendations to help ease my worries. I appreciated that they went over prices for everything after the vet saw the dogs but before the shots, nail trims, and bloodwork so you knew what you were getting into. I also got price quotes for a dental cleaning and X-rays and prices for everything while expensive compare with my previous vet and are better on some items. My first Pomeranian lived til 16 and I took her for over a year for Q Fluids 2x a week at vet in an amazing city Munster, IN and her and I would be in and out and 25 mins tops and it was $12-15. $70 for fluids is why so many poor owners and the poor pets suffer because they have no way of ever saving or helping their poor pet simply bc places like this only care about the $$ not your animals. It was so scary. And they put him on an antibiotics even though both blood work results he'd already had recently showed zero signs or symptoms of infection nor eating much at all nor drinking so he wouldn't even take it anyways but another way to have me pay more.
