I was referred to this business by my plumber after a water pipe leak in my garage ceiling flooded part of the attic there. Kha and Hieu (I hope I got that second name correct) came right out and pulled armloads of sodden cellulose insulation out of my ceiling, then set up some fans and a dehumidifier to dry things out. The job took longer than expected, but one or both men kept coming out to check on the progress of the project. They were always on time (or early!), worked hard and cleaned up after themselves...and now today I have a dry attic thanks to them! I would not hesitate to call them again if needed (but I sure hope I don't!), or recommend them to a friend. read more

Due to a major water leak in my building, ESR was contacted to remediate water damage from a top floor unit, flowing down into every other unit below. While the work was fast, they also marked walls and ceilings that were not damaged and that were not giving off moisture readings. So they were already trying to rip out more material than necessary. After our building insurance advised us not to work with them on the repairs, that's when ESR's true colors came through. They overbilled for work and materials that were never done, they threatened all the residents with liens (even though they knew the building's insurance was handling the claim), and now they've moved on to collections. We got referred to this company by a plumber and they responded very quickly off-hours to help with mold and water damage due to a leaking water heater. They were friendly, seemed knowledgable, always arrived on time (many appointments) and replied to all communication without delay (even off-hours). In other words they were professional and we were happy with the quality of their work. However, I am deducting one star due to the very high cost, especially for the tear down phase. The tear down phase alone cost 6k+ although the actual work did not take more than maybe 8 hours. They then charged us $270 per day for dehumidifier fans and $120 a day for an air scrubber which feels a bit much. The machines were just sitting here unattended for a week. It would have been cheaper for us to just go out an buy an air scrubber. The restoration phase seemed more reasonably priced though and if I ever end up in a similar situation I might use them again since they were dependable. read more

AVOID this organization if you have any other options. The fees are absurd and they will arbitrarily give you 'discounts' to make it seem better. They also will assure you they work with your home insurance and have lots of experience to help have them cover the costs. In the end they did the cleanup job in 2 hours yet billed me over $3k. They left fans which ended up damaging our home exterior and ripped our foundation vent screens. Only when I noticed did they give another discount rather than repair the damage. I would've expected them to have told me about the damage rather than waiting until I inspected and discovered it. Getting that repaired is just another hassle I will handle. After all of this they failed to provide the information requested by our insurance company and little of it was covered. After months of trying to work with them on the incorrect billing, stucco damage & incomplete insurance info their billing person, Norma refused to have any understanding of the situation and wouldn't honor the original agreement and make the situation square. Really quick to come a check the issue, but they overcharged for many things. Insurance covered, but just FYI. Also, they were quick to open the cealing to check a leak, but when it was tike to fit it and close the ceiling their team came for 5 minutes and left. We called the company several times and after at the end of the day received a call saying that their employees quit the job for whatever reason. Waited for longer than two weeks, calling the company every day or so and they were not able to send anyone. Had issues collecting from client after they collected their money from the insurance company so turned around and sued our management company for the clients bill. Poor communication all around. Never had a signed agreement with us. Should've handled with the property owner but decided to sue us even though they didn't have a signed contract with us. Their "legal" department was awful. We called emergency services when we had a leak under the shower in our crawl space. Dan came out in a few hours and inspected the area. He was courteous and efficient. After we spent the night thinking about our options we called him back in the morning. Dan was very quick in setting up the fans and everything we needed. More importantly he did not try to sell us things we did not need like other companies that wanted us to tear out the entire sub flooring in the house. After all the water was out my plumber and contractor inspected the crawlspace and said there was no evidence of mold or wood damage. I called Megan around noon on Friday, Washington's birthday and after a little "phone tag", Emergency Tech, Hiew was on the job. Hiew vacuumed out 200 feet of gray water sewage from under my kitchen that same afternoon. Then came the deodorizing power wash. After that he re-vacuumed and laid down the absorber. By 4:30pm that same afternoon the fans were clearing out the excess moisture and bad smells. Hiew made a bad experience into a good one. Woohoo! Emergency Services Restoration is as good as it gets. After having a leak under my house repaired, the plumbing company suggested that I have someone dry and treat the area to prevent mold. I was out of the country at the time and at the plumber's recommendation my friends called ESR. Hieu looked over the water damage and provided a clear estimate with pictures. The work was underway when I returned home and I had an opportunity to meet Hieu when he picked up the fans. He was very professional. The restoration treatment was very effective and the crawl space under my house, the beams and flooring were all dry. No one anticipates water damage. SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! After calling around to pest control companies to come find a dead rat under our home, I was finally referred here to this company. I called an 800 number, the dispatcher was in Redondo Beach, which I found interesting seeing as I was in Modesto. When I asked for an estimate/average cost for the type of services I was requesting, the dispatcher said he couldn't provide that as that is done on a case by case basis, on site, in relation to the job. This nagged at me and I pushed again for a ballpark figure ($50? Several hundred dollars?) to no avail. The guys that showed up (why there were 2 confused me) we're polite enough as they informed me that their fee just to ARRIVE (or leave depending upon perspective) is $161! I was floored. The company dispatcher would not inform me of an arrival fee!! Mind you, that's the fee for them to arrive, not including any of the "work". So, seeing as I was already $161 deep into this endeavor, I had them continue the work. The bill came to close to $300 and they said they would send an invoice. The invoice came with a matching amount but stating they had done grey water/sewer clean up, not dead rat removal. So, omission when asked about cost, and then out and out lying about the particular work completed. Needless to say, I regret calling this company, will not be contacting them in the future, and do not recommend them. The termite inspector find 2-3 inches of water and slough in the crawl space. I call d plumbers ( find out majority of them won't do pumping or go into the crawl space). One plumber refer me to emergency restoration and they come out the same day. Give me a quote. I did call my insurance Comapny and they sent someone out but the insurance Comapny said water damage is not covered. Long story short. I called today and they come out right away, pump everything out and put absorbent in the crawl space. It is smelling much better. Think very carefully and do your homework before contracting ERS! When we discovered that a pipe had burst under our home we contacted ERS to provide emergency water removal services. We foolishly did not shop around in our panicked state. Not only did ERS severely overcharge us, they may be responsible for significant damage to our home! The following is our ordeal: Charging above market value as noted by Safeco. Failure to respond and provide documentation for payment to Safeco for almost 3 months. Meanwhile, they repeatedly called us to threaten collections. 5 days of fans in damaged areas without monitoring the spread of mold. According to Anderson Group, our restoration company, this likely propagated the mold rapidly as mold can begin growing within 48 hours. No recommendation was made for further steps to check for mold until over a week after original service. The experts should have provided sound advice rather than further damage to our home. When they referred us to a restoration company, that company provided a quote charging us for services that didn't exist in our bathroom such as $85 replacing a runner board we don't have. Both companies show a consistently unethical practice of overcharging or inventing charges for customers in crisis situation. ERS has SUCCESSFULLY been sued at least twice for claiming they are fully licensed when in reality only their parent company is. That lack of licensure may account for the poor advice we received. Ana, the billing department manager, ignored 3-4 calls and 2 emails before I threatened to leave this yelp review and begin small claims court proceedings. At which point she rapidly contacted us and began communication with our insurance company's claims department. The insurance company continued to struggle to get documentation and cooperation from ERS in handling this APPROVED claim. Ultimately, Safeco was unwilling to pay more than $3300 for the services ERS performed stating that is reasonable market value. Now, almost 10 months later we are receiving invoices and collections threats for the remaining $3000 including hundreds of dollars of late fees, caused by their own incompetence!! I had a major, major, major plumbing problem. ESR came out right away, because initially I thought it was a different problem, and they told me I needed a plumber. Turns out the shower drain was never capped and had been draining into my crawlspace for years and years and years and years. After I got the line capped, they dried everything out, did mold remediation, and advised me on what to do in the future. Their technicians were personable, funny, helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and skillful. They work with insurance companies too. Our outstanding plumber, Freddy with Freedom Underground Plumbing in San Jose, recommended we work with Emergency Services Restoration to remediate the incredibly nasty lake o'shiz that had flooded the crawl space under our old home as the result of our main sewage pipe breaking down. Following my initial chat w/Freddy (who rightfully couldn't inspect the break until the bio-hazard lake was remediated), I reached out to ESR, who sent a tech by within a few short hours (wow!). Though it was already near the end of day, our assigned tech, Hiew, came by that evening to take a look. He was timely, professional, and clear with me about what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He said he could start that very evening, however we wanted the night to consider other quotes. We opted to go with ESR, and Hiew returned first thing in the morning, suited up, protected our floors, and got to work. Again, he was timely, professional, and communicated clearly (his photos of the pipes, lake, etc. spoke volumes) -and he got the job done well, on-time, and for the original amount quoted. If/when we're ever mired in such muck again, I'd probably not go with the fan rental (we only had one small crawlspace vent) and I'm not sure the really loud fan did much (aside from annoying our dog + neighbors), however I erred on the side of caution in using one inside and one outside. The services were expensive, though I thought it was worth it for the exceptional amount of crap Hiew had to deal with, and for his timeliness, attention to detail, and great communication. I would pass on this firm. We had some water damage. They quoted three days of continuous fans, which was indeed accurate. We are on day 8+ & still no sign of the folks to pick up machines, which take up the entire bathroom & a good portion of the kitchen. Have called every day - reasonable tone & attitude "Could you please pick up your equipment?" Response "will pick up tomorrow" - two days running. Still no sign. We contacted ESR to extract some water from a toilet leak/flood. They were prompt and came out, but charged over $2,000.00 for the service. After the service, the carpet needed to be cleaned by another vendor, and large sections of the hardwood floor needed to be replaced. So, I had a leak in my upstairs bathroom, and I called the plumber. The plumber couldn't access the leak. However, the plumbing company recommended Emergency Services Restoration, INC. as part of their protocol. I was thankful, because ERS sent Emiliano to assist me. I was quite upset and frustrated because the plumber could not accessed the pipe to fix my repair. However, Emiliano saved the day. He arranged to have a contractor come to open my wall and scheduled the plumber to come back and complete the pipe repair. Not only that, he sensed that I was overwhelmed, he began the mitigation process for me. Eventually, I spoke with the insurance company and because of Emiliano, the claim process was painless. He was a God send. He was professional yet compassionate, he could see that I didn't have a clue. He could have taken advantage of my situation, yet he didn't.
