I own and operate a home services company and frequently run into issues with plumbing, electrical, etc. I was removing a washer/dryer unit as part of our project, and the valves were totally corroded so couldn't finish the job until I addresses the issue. I mean 90 mins from when I called them until I was back in action on my project, and the price was totally reasonable. The plumber came to my house for a home warranty job and cut into the drywall which we expected. However, he didn't use a drop cloth to protect my kitchen floor, drywall dust was everywhere, and he left a piece of drywall literally hanging from the ceiling. I'm 7 months pregnant and have a 5 year old running around and when he left I walked literally on my hands and knees sweeping and washing my floors and moving stuff back. He even left the insulation just sitting in the corner of my kitchen. I was told that they don't do drywall repairs, which is fine. However the state that he left my kitchen was unacceptable for any "Professional!" He was actually a nice guy, but I think the lack of attention to detail and leaving me worse off than I was, was a bit more than I bargained for. read more

I am a real estate broker and was recently representing a buyer on a condo purchase. For some reason, the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent. As our closing date was approaching, we could not reach a deal with the sellers as we had no idea whether the problem was a $100 fix or or a $5000 fix. (Update to previous review of services not rendered) I gave EPS an opportunity to re assess and make things right at my house. The owner, Mike, initially offered to complete the work (that should have been completed in the 1st place) for a little over $1000. I was intrigued. He comes over, looks at the house, tells me they would call me tomorrow (today) as soon as they worked out the hours/numbers (they didn't call.) I message him, he says that I seem to have my mind make up and pursues to jack the price up to over $2000 dollars to complete the original work that was not done by his plumbers. Do not trust this business. He told me "let's chalk this up to a miscommunication." No, not a miscommunication, you still tried to profit off of this clearly dishonest and unethical business practice. Mike, the owner, came to my house and told me to my face "My plumber feels like he did you a favor." A favor does not include guaranteeing work, completing half of it and leaving LEAKY SEWAGE UNDERNEATH MY HOUSE. So sad that businesses operate this way, we should be better to each other this day and age. I do not buy any of what was told to me by either of these professionals. read more

Emergency Plumbing Services was sent out under our Home Warranty for a condo we just bought to unclog our shower drain. After spending 10 minutes trying to unclog our drain they said there was a solid object in the drain and that our home warranty doesn't cover that. We then called Roto Rooter and had someone come out for a second opinion and after 20 minutes working on the drain they were able to clear it out. We are extremely disappointed and feel like we were taken advantage of. If the effort was put in to really take care of the customer, they would have cleared everything for us. read more

I had the displeasure of working with these plumbers as part of a home insurance claim, and from that experience, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The plumber they sent out seemed like a nice guy, but continually gave bad estimates. Since the insurance company will take their recommendation as the word of god, especially over a lowly peon like myself (there is no way I could ever understand the intricacies of plumbing on my own). It took me three concurrent estimates from independent plumbers (all of which agreed with me) before they sent out a second opinion. Finally, the second opinion ruled these guys were wrong and I was able to proceed with my claim. But there were other problems with these guys. The office doesn't seem to know what their plumbers are doing, or where they are. I called requesting a simple estimate for just hourly work, and it took more than two days to track down the plumber -- because, somehow one specific plumber was the only person in the company to tell me what their hourly rate was. I was constantly chasing them around to provide information to the insurance company. In general it was just a pain to work with them. Their plumber was wrong, and that was a pain. But he was a nice guy about it, and was happy to call and explain his reasoning/answer questions. Something like that can be forgiven. On the other hand, the supervisor, or whomever was training the receptionist, was extremely rude, unprofessional, and in general seemed to be a despicable human being that somehow is lost in the concept of customer service. If he could wrap his mind around such a high brained concept as "being nice and respectful" , it would perhaps reflect much better on the company, and not make him come off as as a lonely old man on a power trip because he probably goes home to a surely cat and TV dinners. read more

At first my experience with these guys went well - our water heater is 24 years old and takes a million years to heat up (and doesn't last long). They were the chosen company by our home warranty and they called quickly to schedule an appt to check it out (I believe the following day). Guy came out, was respectful and friendly (wore booties in the house to not muck up our floors), and tested our hot water heater with our tub upstairs. Apparently our stupid archaic water heater worked fine (go figure they wouldn't just replace it, because I'm sure these one-star companies need every penny they can get) but the guy said a longer dip tube should be put in to allow for more hot water to be drawn upstairs when we need it. He said he would put in the claim that a new dip tube be put in, but he couldn't do it until he received approval from our home warranty. He said the office would call with the approval. So I wait. And wait. One week goes by. Then two. I call the office and leave a voicemail asking about the status. No call back. Wait a few days and call again - a guy picks up and when I ask about the status, he says the technician said getting a new dip tube was a SUGGESTION but that it's not covered on the warranty so they can't help me. I informed him the guy specifically told me that he was seeking approval and that it was certainly not just a suggestion or I wouldn't have tried calling over and over again. I get dead air - of course he wasn't apologetic or even saying a single word! Keep in mind we specifically renewed our home warranty for an additional year because we knew we would have water heater issues due to the sheer age of the unit. I never anticipated that the awesome company that our TERRIBLE home warranty company dispatched would treat their customers like they were liars. I didn't even bother checking this company's reviews when the company dispatched them because I had an inkling it would be a one-star company with terrible customer service. I am surprised by some of the low star ratings here, my experience has been very good and I'm totally satisfied with the company and service given. This started out as a home warranty claim and ended up being denied..not a great start. Granted the denial was partly my fault. The cold water valve for my washing machine went bad and flooded my laundry room when I was swapping out the old rubber supply hoses to washing machine. After my shock we turned off the water and took the broken water valve off. Figuring I'd try and fix myself I took it to Home Depot but, of course, they don't carry this specialty item. The next opinion was to remove the entire box that goes in the wall, meaning mess, drywall repair and time! JAY TO THE RESCUE! He took a pic with his camera phone, called a plumbing supply company in LA and had them shipped down. He installed the replacement and saved me hundreds of $$ since they didn't have to replace the entire drain box and open up walls. I will refer Jay and EPS to my friends and clients. Mr. Jay is amazing. We were so lucky that the home insurance called Emergency Plumbing. Our toilet in the guest bathroom was doing a see saw motion. Jay didn't just put the sealant around the toilet but disassembled it looked at the problem. We found out that my base was too high from the floor. He explained to me how it was and even recommended what to do. He said that he'll do his best to do a remedy but we need to find a contractor to work on the floor and even it out. These guys came out and fixed a massive leak on a rental property that I manage. They helped us get new cabinets and counters in. I have spoken with Mike over there and he has always been very courteous and professional. I've read the other reviews, I know they used to have some other employees there who maybe weren't as good or on top of it. I can't speak to that, all I know is that Mike has helped me with this property on several occasions over the years and I would highly recommend them. Keep in mind too, most people who have good experiences don't take the time to write reviews. I set up TWO appointments with them, and waited around for them for the FULL FOUR hour window while I had to stay at home with my two kids (2 and 4). Both times the plumber flaked out and did not come within the prescribed time period. When I called the company to ask if they would be willing to give me a discount, the owner said that it was my fault (apparently the first time, the plumber rang the doorbell once, even though there were three people in house waiting for him and no one heard it) and that it was my problem. No discount, no apology, just discourtesy and rudeness. Unless your time is worth nothing and you like being called a liar, I would avoid this company like the plague. read more

Straight Garbage!!! I wish you could rate negative stars so I'll give them the lowest you can give, even 1 star is to deserving! -First; of all shows up supper late about 7:30 pm. Even though I scheduled way in advance! -Second I can tell he doesn't even want to be there, by his demeanor. And kept talking about how tire he was -Third; complain abolut his las job were he had to remove some instilation and now he's itchy cause of fiber glass (another hint that he didn't want to be there) -Fourth, he fell asleep!! I'm dead serious I took a picture and will be posting it soon. -Fifth; He completly half assed the job and told me something different than what he said last time. This was the second time he came out to my house, 1st time he couldn't do no work because he need access and my home warranty stipulates that I must provide access for the plumber to fix my bath/spa. So the very next day had someone come over and cut a hole 15"x12" in the side of the tile of the tube so he could have access to the motor. Because his skinny butt said he could get to it through the access panel on the side of the house, and he would need to be able to remove the motor. When he was done he said it was something completly different than what he had said earlier, he didn't remove the motor. He didn't even attempt to fix anything! Unfortunately I got stuck with these people because thats who my home warranty contracts through. If your Home Warranty contracts through these guys cancel them. They were sent out for a faucet leak by my Home Warranty company. Ricardo was the plumber and he was the nicest most genuine of plumbers. Fixed the cartridge quickly and was on his way. I would definitely use them again if I have a plumbing problem once my warranty is up. I do hope the other plumbers are like Ricardo. Highly recommended! read more

This company has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was contacted by EPS through my home warranty program (also terrible, btw). They offered to have a plumber come to my home on a Wednesday from 3-7. I asked if I could make sure it was closer to 7 because I wouldn't be home from work until about 4:30. I was told then that there was no availability that day. My next appointment was Monday, 3-7. I accepted and it was explained to me that the plumber would call 30 minutes before he arrived. Monday rolls around and I wait...and wait...and wait. At about 5:30 or so, I call the main office to see what the situation is. I spoke with someone (Dan, maybe?) who was able to confirm my appointment, but when I asked if he could give me anything more specific as to when the plumber would arrive, I was not given one of two acceptable answers. I would have been happy with "Let me call the plumber on the road and see if he's able to tell me anything about his route" OR "I'm sorry, but due to the nature of our business, we cannot provide anything more specific than that." Instead, I was told, "He'll call 30 minutes prior to arrival." Not much help at all. At 6:45 I just assume he's not coming and reschedule for the next Wednesday, 3-7. Now it's Wednesday and I wait...and wait...and wait. At 7:00 I assume he's not coming and get ready for bed. At 8:30 I get a phone call from the plumber asking me if I still want him to come (it'll be about 45 minutes). I accept, and wait...and wait...and wait. Sometime after 9:30 he arrives and diagnoses the problem. I expect to hear from someone on Thursday...or Friday...or Monday. Nothing (surprise, surprise). I contact my home warranty company on Monday and was told that Mike, the supervisor, was going to get to the bottom of this and call me back in a few minutes. 9:30 Monday night and still no phone call. I can't comment on their quality of work because it never got done. I can't imagine how difficult it might be to get it scheduled, though. Use at your own risk! read more

Jay's the man! He took my plumbing emergency on a sunny Sunday afternoon despite clocking out for the day, which makes him pretty much a hero! We submitted an emergency request through our home warranty and was asked to call them to follow up. We called the main line and their offices were closed. We left two voicemails on their after-hours lines and never received a call back. Not sure why they claim to be a 24 hour company. A whole day after not being able to use the water in our home we called the home warranty company only to find out that they had rejected the work order. It would have been helpful if someone from EPS called us to let us know they couldn't help us. They are not a company to trust in case of an emergency. read more

Few days ago our pipe cracked so we called our home warranty company. They sent Jay over to inspect after a few calls. Regardless of our complain of him being late, Jay figured out the problem in less than 5 mins and explained patienly to me and my family. Two days later he came back again to replace the pipe. Jay did excellent work and left no mess in the kitchen. When he was done with the replacing, he double checked if there's any problems. Before he left, Jay gave us some tips and suggestions on what kind of silicone and drain openers are more useful. He's professional at what he's doing and passionate at the same time!
