I was referred to Emerald Plumbing when I needed a toilet repair. I know how to do the jobs myself but these days I just don't want to. I was so impressed that I've used them three additional times for different needs. Called two days ago at about 4:40 pm about a leak in my front yard that was identified by a leak detection service. Got a call back from the on call plumber who asked if I was willing to pay overtime rates to get it fixed that night. I said no, I can wait until tomorrow. He said someone would call. Next day I called them as I never heard from them and they said that they could only get to me the next day. So today I sat through the appointment window of 10 to 2 and then at 3:20 called and asked where the guy was. I was told his early job ran long (would have been nice if they had called me to tell me that) but he would still be out today. He finally showed up after 5. Good experience with Emerald Plumbing. I had a hybrid/heat pump water heater installed and it was a low drama event - exactly the desire! This was not an emergency install, I called on a Saturday for a quote and received a call back within an hour, the person listed to what I needed, I provided what I knew about the existing set up including the breaker and space and they provided am a ballpark estimate over the phone. They were friendly and were able to give me straight answers to my questions. By early week I called back and they had me on the schedule within a couple of days that worked with my schedule. The price it ended up being was right on target with the over the phone estimate. They were clear about the initial hour cost and the initial time/materials cost. I had a new shower installed, and they did a nice job, but they damaged the shower panel during installation - they did call it out and said they would contact the manufacturer to get a replacement and that it would be shipped to my house. Weeks go by, no response. Texted the contact, no response. I contact the manufacturer and pay for a replacement panel myself, and make an appointment for installation. I called the morning of the appointment to confirm it's still on (it was). No one came by, no one called. If you're busy, fine I get it - but ghosting me twice is not ok. read more

We will assume the plumbing work ( a re-pipe) was done well. But we were very displeased with communication and clean up with Emerald Plumbing. After waiting an extra day for the project to be completed, we had asked to be notified when the drywall repair team would be in the dwelling, but we were not told. But our biggest disappointment was that the dwelling was left in disarray. We were left to rehang 3 bi-fold doors, an 8 ft long wire shelf in the laundry closet, and we are now trying to find someone to place the large primary bath sheet mirror over the vanity (to put it back up. They took it down, but didn't put it back up). Despite being told, "we always do everything we can to keep our customers happy", we discovered that they did not feel the need to make us happy. After all, they already had our money. They said they would re-send me a copy of the "Letter of Confirmation" that states they "don't rehang mirrors". But they never re-sent it to me. I will assume the LOC does likely state this (I guess). But it is a poor business decision to leave this out of the scope of work, in my opinion. We will have to hire someone to do it (based on the size of the mirror and the shape of the room. ) Remember, they took it down, but did not put it back up. In our communication to express our concerns, I was given a bit of a run around. I was told, "The crew said the bi-fold doors were already off when the team arrived". I explained that was simply not true. They replied (paraphrased), "Oh, I only asked our plumbing team, I did not ask the drywall team, I'm sorry I didn't aske them also, but we wouldn't lie about something so simple as bi-fold doors" 1) if anyone told you the doors were already off, they lied and you repeated it. 2) if you believe bi-folds are so simple, and you also believe you always do everything you can to keep our customers happy.....you failed. Very bad customer service with woman who answers Emerald Plumbing phone and gives some quotes over phone. She was a real jerk to my wife - all on the speaker phone so I heard it too. Appears as soon as she figured out my wife was older and soft spoken - the Emerald Plumbing woman (said her name was something like Myrna) - starting telling my wife she was "repeating" herself (we are older) blaiming my wife for Emerald Plumbing forgetting us and waiting over 6 months to get back and finsih what we already paid for and the quote still waiting on after payment for the visit. Emerald Plumbing woman said my wife should have followed up with Emerald Plumbing - . . . instead of Emerald Plumbing just apoligizing about forgetting us after taking our money. That rude lady might be one of the onwers as no respectable employee would ever talk to my sweet spouce like that. I'm torn. The re-pipe guys were great and included drywall and cinder block repair. I also had a hot water tank installed that stopped working after 3 months. They came out and reset the temperature but blamed the failure on my solar system. I called the manufacturer of the heater and they walked me through finding the defective heating element. From our first repipe consultation with Hugo, to our work being completed by Chad and team, Emerald lived up to their reputation as customer service oriented, knowledgeable and reliable. They were also quick and careful. The holes made in drywall were minimal, being both strategic and precise. Unlike many plumbers, the drywall repair is included in the price! Our bathrooms had a lot of tile in them. My wife likes to joke that the previous owner had a philosophy of "if it stays still, she tiled it." Somehow, Chad and crew only had to remove 2 tiles to get the work done, and this included a bathroom with floor-to-ceiling tiles. The 2 that they removed were completely intact and could be simply put back into place! We can't be happier with the work which was on time and on budget. Came by to take a look at a backed up tub. At no time did they snake the tub. The tech went onto my roof and snaked the vent, and said there were roots in the line. I hired another plumber to come out, and he snaked the tub and fixed the problem. Emerald Plumbing came to my rescue on a holiday weekend when I opened my main water line only to have it rupture after contractors damaged my line on some exterior townhouse work while I was away. They were quick to respond and were out to my place in a few hours so I had running water by the evening. However few days later a different plumbing company, that came out for a different unrelated issue, pointed the water line was leaking and I should call to have it repaired while it was on warranty-- so I did. Emerald sent out a guy to repair it and I explained what was going on and what the previous colleague did. Upon work completion (again), the man left and didn't consult with me. A week or two later I received a bill for the "repair" work. I had to call to dispute the charges, and explain again the repair was for the new line they had put in and it was under warranty. At the end of the day, they got me out of a serious bind, but they didn't do the job correctly the first time and tried to charge me to repair their own work. Just an ok for me. read more

Completed a 3/2 split plan with many challenges in a day. Inspection two days later then drywall repair the next. Everything was as well organized as you can imagine. Can't praise these people enough. I was totally skeptical that: they could complete the task in a single day & I would see EVERY patch. She was interrupting, wouldn't listen at all, didn't find out the situation of her team who had to come back to fix something on the job, talked to us in a very disrespectful tone, and blatantly blamed us. I liked the company's work until they gave us an inaccurate estimate and tried to charge us almost double the price. They don't do written estimates so you have no way to verify your quote is correct. That was the most hurtful experience I've ever had on the phone with a customer service agent. They always provide quotes and price ranges up front, which is different than many other plumbers. They are honest on their hours and work expediently. Emerald Plumbing has been such a disappointment. We used them in November for a re-pipe job and spent $8,000.00+ with them for the re-pipe and a new hot water heater. I would consider that transaction to put us on their priority customer list but boy am I mistaken. We called them out a little over a month ago to help us with our shower drain in our third bathroom. Emeralds technician got on the roof for about 3 minutes, came down, told us it was unclogged, charged us 200.00+ and told us if it "clogs again" we will need to have a camera put down the drain to scope out the problem, at $425.00 per hour with a 1 hour minimum. Moving forward a month...we do NOT use nor have we used the 3rd bathroom since Emerald cleared the clog. We had company come in for a wedding this past weekend and when one of them went to take a shower he was up to his ankles in stagnant water....almost immediately. I called Emerald and requested someone come look at the drain again and explained that we have not used the bathroom and/or shower since they were there. It was on Saturday and we said there was no rush we have several other bathrooms and they promised to call us on Monday. Today is Tuesday, we never heard from them yesterday and when I called today I was told that they do not warranty their drain work and that I will need to pay another service call for them to come out. I said that's kind of crazy to me because there is no way the clog was totally fixed the first time. Long story short she suggested I pay the $425.00 per hour for the camera as the technician suggested. I am just surprised that such a large company, such as Emerald Plumbing, will actually lose a customer over customer dis-satisfaction. I recently had the unfortunate experience of hiring Emerald Plumbing for what I thought would be a routine plumbing job. Little did I know it would turn into a complete nightmare with the customer (her name is Tia) scheduling, who sounded like Karen. First, scheduling an appointment was a hassle( her name is Tia). Their customer service was lacking; they did not ask you for any information as far as my email, my landlord's email, my landlord's phone #, if I am the owner of the property or not, any form waiver or right to perform the job on-site or who going to be paying for the job, which I don't think is a big deal at first but this protocol was pretty normal with all other companies. When the plumber finally arrived, he was excellent and professional. Still, It was clear they lacked communication since he could not perform his work because I'm not the property's landlord. When I called them to check if they had emailed my landlord regarding the document for work release. I got accused as if it was my fault. From not telling them these things "up front" ?? on top of I already waited 4 hours for the tech to arrived. I ended up calling another company and getting this taken care of right away. read more

Fast efficient but billed for overtime rates at $290 for work done before 5 pm.... $290 quoted overtime rate turned into $320 charge adding $30 for snake fee. As if this was an extra piece of equipment required for the drain cleanout job quoted job and added $40 trip fee again as if getting here was not a part of the fee. As a consequence I cannot recommend them as BILLING PRACTICES ARE DECEPTIVE... and I am an Architect and developer. No complaint about plumber or his work just billing. This really isn't about Emerald. I have enjoyed using the company - when the company is doing its own work. But whatever you do, do not let them recommend Scottish Remodel & Repair. I did. Huge mistake. The work was sloppy. Floor tiles are coming lose. During the final touch-ups, they used caulking instead of grout to patch a few spots. The cement used for my block windows wasn't property cured, so that spread all over the shower tiles. And the final insult (which I just realized today), they never put the tile cap on the cut-out in the shower. (see accompanying photo) Oh, and the electrician brought in by Scottish never came back to finish the work after doing the rough-in. I had to finish the rewiring myself - after a month of waiting. I hate to ding Emerald for this, but if you are going to recommend someone - be sure you know what you are recommending. read more
