In the past years, we've come here on New Year's Eve and did the nighttime bowling, which was a lot of fun but on this visit we just went with our friends to get out of the cold and just bowl a couple games. We were invited to a birthday party at Emerald lanes on a Saturday afternoon. I have limited bowling experience and normally only go to the bowling alley for special occasions like birthday parties. Unfortunately Big Al's has been our go to for those occasions. It was a pleasant surprise to walk into Emerald lanes and see a great little bowling alley, and all its simplicity that offers the all the fun things. on top of all of that, it was clean and the clientele appeared to be mellow and low-key. I love that Emerald Lanes was not super crowded and family friendly. They had ample parking, which is also a plus. You walk in to tables and chairs and the snack bar area and beyond that is a large video game area. The lanes are right next to all of this. You can see the whole bowling alley upon initially walking in. Because it was a birthday party I did not experience paying for any of the fun on Saturday so I won't comment on the value, but I imagine that this is a great place to save a buck and have the same kind of fun as any other bowling alley. read more

This place is a complete joke. The woman working the bar was unbelievably rude and acted like doing her job was a burden. No friendliness, no professionalism, just straight attitude for no reason. And the curly-haired kid at the front desk? He just sucked. Completely unhelpful and seemed like he didn't want to be there. All around, the vibe was off and the staff made the whole experience frustrating. Won't be back, and I'd recommend others avoid it too unless you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience. Wish I could give zero stars. My bowling shoes stunk like they haven't been cleaned ever. Tim and Nathan were stuck up. They refused to give me new shoes. On top of that they refused to turn on bumpers for my child. I also found hair in my food. This place sucks and their service is horrible they need to be inspected and closed down asap. read more

I am an avid bowler across the 50 states and Emerald lanes has by far been the worst experience! very uncompliant with my epileptic mother by not accommodating her with bumpers or lighter balls. when I asked Tim and Nathan for these request and told them she had rolled five frames of gutter balls they told me cool she's not a kid. Great bowling alley and good service, played pool and then did an hour of bowling. The lanes are waxed really nicely and I threw over 20mph.

I wish I could give this zero stars if you want to be up charged for everything go here and if you want a water be prepared to pay a dollar for a to go cup of water. The bowling on average is $10-$20 more expensive than other bowling lanes. They charge for more juice if you want to cocktail instead of a shot. We love this place! There's a variety of fun things to do here! I really like that the billiards (pool tables) are all ages and next to but separate from the bar area. You pay hourly, not in quarters. They have arcade games that are new and clean! We went a different night to do the cosmic bowling. I was impressed with the bowling technology - it's upgraded and easy to use. The food here is super affordable and delicious- they serve pizza, chicken strips, fries. I was also impressed that they had several craft beers to choose from. We need to support local businesses like this rather than big chains like Big Al's. This place is worth a try! I came in at 11 since i was told no reservations to be kicked off the table for another reserved table. We got pushed to the pool tables due to the other party and got yelled out mulpital times for putting something on the pool table. Then the owners she claims calls my father a lier becuase she gave him fingersteaks instead of chicken that he ordered. Went for cosmic bowling, short wait, friendly staff. Value is best if you have 4-6 people since it's pay by the lane for this specific event. Lots of fun, food, drinks and arcade games along with bowling. The lane area was lit with neon lights and big screens playing old music videos, very cool, VERY stimulating. My only feedback would be that it was pretty hot. Maybe the lights warmed it up, I don't know but my whole group was over heated and didn't stay to pay for another hour because we needed to leave and cool down. read more

My friends and I were celebrating a 21st birthday and one of the coworkers took it upon himself to ruin our night and treat us poorly. First time here. We signed up kids bowl free for Summer and think we made a right choice on this bowling alley. No, it is not a fancy modern alley in a fancy mall /shopping center, but it is very clean. Not very crowded when we are here in an early Friday afternoon. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. As soon as they saw my boys, they asked for the shoe sizes, asked if they need the bumpers and offered a lighter ball that fit their size. 2 free games a day through out the Summer here can be cool and fun. We didn't try their food. Maybe next time. read more

Emerald Lanes is in a shady little strip mall (it's next to the Navajo--need I say more?) on Emerald that could easily lead you to believe it's a complete dirty dive inside. Not so! It's a bit old fashioned, perhaps. Rather than the usual built in seating before each lane, they have a simple round table with basic chairs. And, of course, it's certainly a little less high tech than some bowling alleys. But, it's clean. And, hey...I'm here to awkwardly roll a heavy ball down a lane and then do a ridiculous (and equally awkward) victory dance if I knock even a single pin over. I'm a simple girl and enjoy simple pleasures. The thud-thud-boom-boom-crack of a ball against pins is all I'm looking for. That. Some fried foods (onion rings, fries, and curly fries). And, a pitcher of Blue Moon. Simple. Throw in a green, twinkling, fake palm tree between each lane? And, I'm all in, my friends. Get to it! read more

Yo, this is crazy first of all we came in from WA at least 30 people... So we order and from the gate the lady seems like she want no business from us at all... we place our order and received our food, ummmm ok the pizza was like straight card board with sauce and cheese on it. Bowling and game heaven on earth! I had heard several not so wonderful things about this place. To be honest though, I love dives so I was excited to check the scene and get a feel for what people were talking about. I think this place is retro, I like that a lot. Upon walking into the joint, we were greeted with games, ya know the ones that spit out tickets so that I can get some cheap toy! Yes! I thought to myself upon entering, not only do I get to bowl but I can also play arcade games and win prizes! After my sheer shock and excitement at all the lights and noises, we proceeded to the bowling counter where a friendly guy helped get us our lane and our shoes. No wait, even better. Place is clean, place is rocking with happiness, music, and fun! After finishing two low scoring rounds, we made our way to the air hockey table! What a fun date night. I am planning to get my group of friends together for a bowl challenge next week because I had such a fun, positive experience. (Besides my low bowling score.) :) read more

I really dig this bowling ally- it's clean & comfy, & it would be my most fav in Boise if the bowling prices were better! They offer an excellent deal on ball, shoes, & a bag that we did. I just wish they had a good bowling deal that kept us comimg in! The service is always really great & I think the bar is better than average. We had a great experience here came with a group of 20 people, called ahead and they reserved 3 lanes. Once we arrived they worked with us and got us on the lanes with excellent patience (we had 13 kids) and excellent customer service! We ordered food and drinks they delivered it quick and came back multiple times to clean up and ask if we needed anything. Wandered into this place on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and daughter. We approached the counter- asked for shoes in our sizes- the older gentleman at the counter misheard my 14 year old and handed her a half size too small. We informed him we needed a 7.5, and he rudely asked "WHY?"... almost yelling at us. We tried to tell him that she simply needed a larger size, but he refused to listen or acquiesce to our request. He brusquely told us our lane number and dismissed us. After we finished bowling, my husband and I proceeded to the bar to pay for our purchase, and despite having 2 employees working, it took them almost 10 minutes to help us (we were closing a $5 tab,) and the 1 other customer there. We then turned in our shoes and went to pay for our games, and chose the cashier that wasn't the rude older gentleman we had first encountered, and while the younger employee was competent and friendly, he smelled so heavily of cigarette smoke that both my husband and I mentioned it to each other upon exiting. The place is clean, mostly comfy, and not excessively loud. However, their service is subpar at best. I prefer Westy's for bowling. The price is comparable and the service is vastly better. read more

Went in to shoot pool not a bad place for bowling, we went and played arcade games finally was able to get a pool table we shot pool for 2 hours saw a number of people come to the bar and not one single ID was checked food was definitely bar food, tables and cues were not very well taken care of. read more

The management or at least the lady who claimed to be management after rudely getting in my daughters face for standing in the same area as my drink that contained alcohol saying that she felt like my daughter reacted toward my drink and that if my daughters got even near my drink she would call the police and have us all three arrested, she was rude, disrespectful and not once pulled me to the side as the parent, mind you my daughter never actually touched my drink let alone drank it. so inappropriate and disrespectful especially when I had just spent 50$ in the establishment as a single mom just trying to spend time with my teenage daughters and for the record I literally had Only the one small drink the entire time and my girls actually had there own sodas in hand when she did this. One of the nicest bowling alleys I've ever been to. SPOTLESSLY clean inside. After reading some of these reviews before we went, I was literally looking for anything even remotely gross. Didn't find a single thing. The employees are constantly wiping tables, and just generally cleaning up. So, from my experience, Emerald Lanes is NOT dirty. Great prices on food and beer, and they taste great. Fries or tots are $2.50 for a basket, and domestic pitchers are $9. There are 20 lanes, and the employees up front are good at spacing you out so you don't all feel crammed together. In the restaurant/bar area there are about 6 pool tables, and tvs on the walls with games playing. Lots of arcade games to play all throughout the building. The prizes you can cash tickets in for are pretty fun, with a wide range of ticket prices, so almost any amount will get you something. We went on a Sunday night, and about 1/3 of the lanes were in use. Be sure to check on their website for coupons before you go, they have a wide variety to cater to both couples and groups. You don't have to print them off, I just showed the employee my phone with the coupon. We got two games, two shoe rentals, and $2 in arcade credits, for $15 + tax. We'll definitely be going back to Emerald Lanes! read more

I have no complaints. We brought my 5 year old here to kill some time before going to dinner. The place is clean, has AC, and several lanes available without any wait.
