I reserved a couple of rooms at this motel after reading prior reviews indicating improvement. We were attending the big rock & mineral show over in Quartzsite, which just doesn't have enough lodging for big events, and Blythe is about 15 minutes away and has far more to offer (although, these are tiny desert towns, so if you're cosmopolitan-minded, don't bother).
The young lady at the front desk apologized for having a mild cold, and was clearly doing her best to check in the parties in front of myself and my sister-in-law as quickly as she could, given that so many guests had arrived at the same time.
I had reserved the room on my card, but when I checked in, I asked to pay with cash. The woman didn't protest at all, simply asking to keep the card on file for incidentals until checkout and immediately processed the refund to the card.
As others have indicated, it's not the Four Seasons, but for the price paid the value received is quite fair. Both of our rooms were clean. The bedding was clean. The bathroom was clean and odorless. The mini-fridge was astonishingly effective, to the point that when I opened my can of Arizona tea in the morning, there was slush ice in it. Makes me wish I placed a Coke in there, because Coke slushee is the best!
If you're super-picky, don't stay here yet, if at all. The owners are obviously bringing this place back from whatever state it was in before they bought it, but that process is taking time and money.
Myself, I would stay here again next year for numerous reasons. First, I love to reward people that are making an effort. Second, I know this is a chain franchise location, but most of the money spent here stays in the community, rather than being forwarded to some faceless corporate jackass in a high-rise somewhere. Third, the times I've stayed in high-end hotels, I didn't notice any real difference the next day, so I don't believe that the additional cost is money well spent.
That's my two cents. read more
