Alta Roofing is an exploitive company which defines the Stormchasers scam. They are not licensed to…read moresolicit in Holladay but they knocked on my door in the winter, ignoring my No Soliciting signs. A salesman pointed to a few missing shingles on my roof, warning me that the damage had been caused by lightning and would cause further destruction to my home's structure if not replaced. He assured me that my home insurance would cover the costs. He promoted the GAF certification that his company had earned promising superior workmanship and product. A group of workers showed up in an unmarked van which was damaged with two ladders and a wheelbarrow dangling from the van's top. About 10 men, mostly dressed in hoodies and knit caps, climbed on top of my steep roof without ANY of the safety equipment protection required by Utah and OSHA. They wore NO safety gear. Worried that their lack of safety adherence made me vulnerable as a homeowner if there was an accident, I went outside my home to ask them to stop working on my roof. They did not respond. None seemed to understand basic English. Two made aggressive hand gestures. One worker urinated in my backyard. I called the Alta Roofing supervisor Brett Sorensen but he did not answer. I felt intimidated. Debris, old shingles and cutting knives blocked the sidewalk to my car, parked on the street. On the lunch hour, a large man knocked loudly on my door and pointed to the extension cord plugged into the outlet on my front porch. Apparently, it wasn't working. He pointed to his microwave that was on my front lawn atop a plastic pail and seemed to need to warm his lunch.The outlet had been blown. Again, I called the supervisor for help. No answer. After the project was completed, I outlined in a letter and in a conversation with Brett Sorensen my serious complaints regarding safety violations, workers' intimidating and crude behavior, the problems of the inability to communicate with them, unprofessionalism and the lack of a supervisor on site. My concerns were not addressed. I was not provided any proof of the workers' training or qualifications. The leakage on my roof is worse now than it was prior to the Alta Roofing replacement. During a storm, water pours over the length of the gutters without entering the faulty drains. I have multiple videos and photographs documenting my claims. Independent inspection of my roof has shown that the standard of service promised by Alta Roofing's promotio of the prestigious GAF-certification was NOT met -- primarily in extremely poor, substandard workmanship. If this crew had been GAF- trained, it was NOT evident. Since my disturbing experience with Alta Roofing, I have validated that they violated several local and federal laws. Holladay City confirmed that the required Building Permit was not applied for which further compromised the standards of my expensive roof. I advise Utah residents to study the red flags of a Stormchaser roofing company before falling victim to the destructive scam.
