Moving my dad into care was one of the most emotional decisions we have ever made, especially after…read morea very difficult and painful experience at a larger facility. We were nervous, protective, and unsure what would happen next. From the minute we walked into Extended Family Home, everything changed. The atmosphere is exactly what the name says, a home. You can feel it the second you open the door. There is warmth in the walls, light in the way people interact, and a true sense of family that is impossible to fake. It is not clinical or sterile. It is calm, beautiful, organized, and full of quiet dignity and love. Marta, the owner, is someone who lives and breathes compassion. You can tell this is her calling. She is involved in every detail, every day, and you feel her presence in every thoughtful system and interaction. From our first conversation, she asked me detailed and specific questions, not just to check boxes, but to truly understand my dad, his needs, his rhythms, and what was ahead. That was the first sign we were in a completely different kind of place. My dad has dementia and is a high fall risk, and at his previous facility, care was rushed, inconsistent, and frightening. At Extended Family Home, we were stunned from day one that he was letting them help him shower, guide him to the bathroom, and care for him so willingly. That was because they had patience, time, compassion, and most importantly, the right strategies for working with memory care residents. The difference was immediate and profound. A couple weeks in, there was a scary moment when my dad's blood sugar dropped to a dangerous level. The way the team responded, calm, professional, intelligent, and proactive, is something I will never forget. They managed the situation so well, and I truly believe that if he had still been at his old facility, the outcome could have been much worse. They were mindful of his schedule, his habits, and his medical needs from the start, and I am grateful every day that they were there when he needed them most. They may have saved his life. Vicki, the home manager, is one of the warmest people I have ever met. She knows every detail and every person in that home, and you can feel her heart in how she leads the day to day care. You feel safe when she is around, and even more importantly, so does your loved one. And then there is Dani, the cook, who brings just as much joy as she does nourishment. When I came to interview, she was dancing with one of the residents who loves music. That moment told me everything. This is a home where people are not just taken care of, they are seen, loved, and connected with in meaningful ways. The staff has been there for years. There is no turnover, which is rare and speaks volumes about the environment Marta has created, not just for the residents, but for her employees. That kind of stability creates real trust and consistency for people with dementia, and we saw the results right away. Choosing care for a loved one is the most important decision you can make. We did not know how much better things could be until we found this home. Extended Family Home has brought peace, safety, dignity, and compassion back into our dad's life, and ours too. We are so grateful to have found them and we cannot recommend them enough.

For three years I cared for my mother as she battled dementia, it was one of the hardest experiences of my life, I struggled to understand her mood swings her refusal to eat, shower, or take medication. I eventually had to accept that I didn't have the skills or knowledge to provide the care she needed, after moving her four times since 2022 I was feeling hopeless until one day in March 2023 I overheard a woman at the grocery store raving about a place of joy she described it as heaven on Earth a place where her father was cared for with love and dedication her words stuck with me and I decided to visit from the moment I walked in I felt something different the owner Chela is incredibly attentive to detail and it's clear that she runs this home with both expertise and a huge heart every time I visit often unannounced I see caregivers who are genuinely happy always smiling and treating the residents with kindness and patience. Most importantly I always see the residents happy. the name says it all this truly is a place of joy, if you're looking for a group home where your loved one will be treated with dignity compassion and expert care this is it. I am beyond grateful to have found this place and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking the best care for their elderly family members

To the Caregivers at A Place of Joy Assisted Living,…read more I want to take this opportunity to say what a wonderful experience my Aunt Darlene has had during the almost three years she has been with A Place of Joy Assisted Living. She is well fed, the facility is always clean, the meals are wonderful, and she is as happy as one can be under her circumstances. Her husband, my uncle, visits regularly, and always knows he will find his wife up and dressed, having a meal, or just finishing one, with clean linens on the bed, a comfortable chair where she feels safe, and people around who care for her and make her feel safe. I am grateful for the peace of mind my uncle has knowing the staff care greatly about and for my aunt which allows him some sense of comfort since they cannot be together in their home. Thank you all for not only caring for my aunt, but for the tenderness with which you care for my uncle as well. He is a wonderful man, and a wonderful husband to my aunt for over 65 years. That is a saint in my book! With gratitude and thanks, Their niece, Linda
