I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Matin & office manager Cindy. I've always hated the dentist and had nothing but horrible experiences, but Dr. Matin was so calming and gentle during my wisdom teeth extractions and filling procedures. All 4 wisdoms removed during an awake procedure - almost zero swelling or bruising & full recovery in less than a week. Cindy is incredibly helpful and you can tell she puts in extra effort to make her patients feel like they're her only priority. Not really sure where to start with this one. I had to abruptly switch my dentists due to insurance, and this was one recommended through Guardian. Long story short I finally came to my senses after I got weird vibes every time I came in for a "cleaning" where my teeth didn't feel entirely clean and they scraped away at my gums and teeth making them bleed more than normal and saying I need to floss better. So what do I do? I floss everyday as the dentist recommends, come back for another cleaning and they try to say I have 6 various cavities out of nowhere. I'm going to revert back to my old dentist somehow because after seeing various reviews about them being scammy and pushy I can feel that tension while there and I will not be coming back to this crap of a dentistry. read more

Went in for an 11 o'clock appointment waited for over 40 minutes at the lobby before I decided to leave. There were still two patients ahead of me to be brought back, so I can't imagine how much more I would have waited to actually have my cleaning done. If there is an option I'd give them minus 100 stars. Absolutely trash clinic and treatment. My app was at 2. I was sitting fooling around for 58 min. And even then they still haven't started to do cleaning. I said I am not gonna wait. The lady on reception told me sorry another mean woman told me to leave or to wait Dr probably another 2 hours. The problem is that I have to take my wires off and put it on in another clinic. and I have another appointment for that ! I can't chill on couch because the clinic works till 4. And if I don't put wires on I can only come to them on next Tuesday and today is Thursday !! So i should stay without wires almost a week. And that mean worker (censorship) told me they have a difficult case because of rain. Which rain ?? No rain all day. So I just left. I will write bad reviews everywhere ! I am supposed to get a teeth cleaning free of charge every 3 months with my Delta Dental of California. I made appointment for teeth cleaning. I went there and 45 minutes after they sat me down in the exam chair, the dentist finally seen me but first they took Xrays, then they took photos of my mouth, then they had the dentist evaluate my mouth: even though they took a whole slew of Xrays 4 months prior. All this was happening while I was pointing out to them that I was just there for a teeth cleaning. At the end, they told me the dentist recommended that I get a deep cleaning, normally $550.00 but with my plan it was only $167.00. I said that I just wanted a regular cleaning; but they refused to provide me the service. In the end, I just ended up walking out, as they wanted to know if I wanted to think about it. Avoid this dental office. I had gone in a few months ago for pain in my tooth and was told i needed a root canal and a couple crowns. Another dentist i went to a year back told me the same thing but the cost here was about 1200 dollars more for the same work. My insurance covers cleanings and xrays but i was charged outright here for the services i got which was a cleaning and xrays. They advertise that they accept insurance yet they dont use it even if you give it to them. I have checked my claims with my insurance provider and there are no claims from emerald dental practice, but there is from the dentist i went prior to them. They also tried to sign me up for carecredit after giving me back their report. Overall the staff was nice, but it seems like they are intentionally deceptive in an effort to extract as much money from you. Avoid. read more

BEWARE, CORRUPTION IS PRACTICED HERE!!! I was referred to Emerald Dental by my insurance Blue Shield. My checkup appointment was Thursday, March 25, 2021. I was uncomfortable with the lightening speed the staff were in, actually running from place to place. When I took an unexpected call from a doctor about my son in a mental health hospital a dental staff person rudely barked at me I needed to get off the phone as they had their work to do. They rushed me through the costs of future work, two crowns, two fillings, and a deep cleaning without giving me a copy, but I did add up my patient cost to be nearly $2,000. They made a next appointment for the cleaning and were anxious to get me out door. Back at home I realized I qualified for Medi-Cal and applied. I called Emerald Dental requesting they email me copies of the costs told to me, they said they would. Come Monday no email received, I stopped by to get the copies. They were rude saying they couldn't just stop what they were doing, told me to come back in 15 minutes, and told me to step out of the office. The copies I received shocked me because the actual costs they had told me would be my part was $1000 more than what the copies showed. So now I know why they rush people in and out as fast as they can. They are in the business of making money off people by lying to them to get their money before they can figure out their scam. I only gave one star because I assume the dentist and X-ray tech deserve something for their skills. But everyone that works there is obviously complicit in this practice of corruption. My two front teeth were near death from an accident I had almost 20 years ago. They were discolored and a completely different shade from the rest of my teeth, which was very embarrassing considering they are my biggest teeth and right up front. I went in for a consultation and they referred me to an endodontist for a potential root canal so they could whiten the two front teeth with a non-invasive bleaching procedure. The endodontist that they referred me to was kind and reasonable (and I will leave a review on his Yelp too) who could have easily done the root canal and charged me and my insurance, but advised against it because it was medically unnecessary. I went back to Emerald Dental where I ultimately went with crowns because the discoloration was just too terrible to bear. They gave me two beautifully constructed crowns that match perfectly with the rest of my smile. I was scared of the pain and the potential outcome (like fake-looking horse teeth!), but the team and Dr. Baron did such an amazing job. I appreciate the fact that Emerald Dental suggested an inexpensive and non-invasive option first, rather than attempting to upsell (something that I have experienced at other dental practices). Everyone is super friendly and helpful there and I am SO happy with the results! read more

I SO WISH I would have read Yelp instead of just Google reviews before going here. I had the hastiest, most expensive, least effective cleaning of my life. I'm so frustrated! They WILL UPSELL YOU to the debride-something-or other cleaning and say you have been hiding from the dentist. I want my money back. :( How is this not fraudulent? How is the patient supposed to know whether or not the deep cleaning is really required? We're not the experts. So we foolishly trust those with the license. Other nit-picky stuff: the logo is scratched off the front door, the office is in disrepair, the forms have been photocopied a dozen times, the office staff was gossiping loudly about poor procedures at their own office (I should have left then!) and they took a long time to get the x-rays done correctly. read more

Yikes guys- this was an awful experience. Came in for a cleaning for my wife and I- walked out the door two hours later with X-rays and no cleaning for me because they wanted $220 for a deep clean for me. Paid $143 for a deep clean for my wife- they numbed her up, used a water pick to clean and scraped away in less than 15 mins- she literally had blood between all her teeth. My experience at emerald dental was not good. I went for a dental regular cleaning appointment and they wanted to charge me $140 for deep cleaning. I denied because that's high amount for a clean up and I just wanted a regular clean and they made me wait in my chair one hour then assistant only apply fluoride and no flossing nor anything else. It was a waste of my time. Then for a crown cost was $900 dollars that's ridiculous high and after reading reviews I wish I had done my research. Cindee seem nice but after I denied cost $140 and crown she didn't even care about me after I was done. She send her assistant receptionist to check me out. That was very unprofessional they only care about money and not about you. Do not recommend this place. Second time here and both times I felt like the staff wasn't genuine and just wanted to up-sale me. First time was okay but this second time I only asked for a cleaning and they were firm on trying to convince me to get a deep cleaning done. I politely denied because it would have cost me about $200 out of pocket (that's what I had to pay the first time) and on top of that they billed my insurance another $500. Anyway I just wanted a cleaning done. They literally just polished my teeth, flossed them and sent me on my way. Follow-up to my previous review. First, let me begin by saying that I initially wrote a review with 5 stars because, Cindee the office manager said, "if you leave a 5 star review on yelp and google, we'll give you $100 off your cavity service". Emerald dental is basically paying for 5 stars. Second, they never answer the phone! You only get to speak with someone at the office if they are calling you to remind you of an appointment. Dr. Matin seemed to be pretty rude. I had a question about my procedure and cost, because it seemed like every time I came into the office, it was a new charge and I had to set up another appointment. Dr. Matin didn't say anything and just walked away and started helping another patient. Cindee the office manager came in and tried to explain, but she talks so fast that I felt like I was just being suckered out of more money. They definitely up sell you with procedures that I've never had before, similar to other reviews. I told that I need gum cleaning. They knew my medical background which is pretty extensive, for example, I have Lupus and autoimmune disease and recently had a kidney transplant. Shortly after the painful gum cleaning, I started feeling ill. End result was sepsis and 2 weeks in the hospital. I'm not blaming Emerald dental because its hard to tell how I got sepsis, but I don't clear them either. Overall, the office staff is nice, except for the incident with Dr. Matin. But, I just felt like the office manager was talking a little to fast, instead of really explaining what I was paying for and why my insurance didn't cover the cost. An update...... As of January 22, 2024... Emerald Dental Practice has not filed an insurance claim with my insurance company. The work was done on December 20th, 2023 and January 2nd, 2024. Emerald Dental demanded payment upfront after my checkup on December 20th. They said that it was for two root canals to be done on January 2nd. They did not describe any other procedures to be done on the 2nd. On December 20th I paid them approximately 3900.00 out of pocket as what they called 'my share.' Delta USA was supposed to pick up the rest... according to Emerald. They told me that a typical root canal procedure costs approximately 4500.00... each. They also said that I had good insurance. They also warned me that if I didn't get the work done soon that I might suffer a heart attack or stroke. The receptionist said... "you don't want to have a heart attack or a stroke do you?" So I panicked and paid in advance for work to be done on January 2nd. I was gullible. Paperwork that Emerald recently sent me states that my portion was going to be approximately 1900.00. That's what I signed and agreed to. I also paid $147.00 dollars in credit card fees... which they did not tell me about. On the 2nd of January their root canal procedures failed. After two hours in the chair and extensive drilling nothing was accomplished. The guy would drill... then x-rays... then drill... then x-rays... etc, etc. Then he said that he couldn't finish the job. There has been no mention of a refund of any kind. And I still have sore gums from the procedure on the 2nd of January. 20 days of soreness is a lot. I've had several root canals done in the past... and typically there was some soreness for 2 or 3 days. And finally... one of the dentists actually keeps all of his equipment in the trunk of his car. read more

I have waited a while post this review because I don't like to bash people but this needs to be told. I went in for pain in my tooth. I ended up needing a crown on one tooth and a root canal on the other. Long story short both my teeth that had the work done still had pain afterwards. I went back to the office off and on over 8 months. They "fixed" the crown, still pain. Over the course of these months the filed down teeth that had nothing to do with the original issue. They said ground down my crowns, then said I needed to see a specialist. After months and months of going in with no relief I asked for my money back and was told "I can't give you your money back " by Cyndi the office manager. On top of that they made it very uncomfortable. Cyndi and the doctor would go into the office and argue about my case. It was just a weird vibe. I called my insurance and explained the issue. They told that I could file a grievance, which I didn't even know existed. My insurance made me go through 2 different dentists to get 2nd opinions and both dentists deemed it poor dental work...and guess what, I got all $2200 back which the office had to pay. On top of this Cyndi sold me a toothbrush for $125, when I got home and looked it up on line it was literally $19.99!!!! I was in shock and couldn't believe they pulled that on me. I found it weird when I asked her how much the toothbrush was that she seemed to pull the number out of thin air. She did refund me the money but she knew what she was doing. I have since had my teeth fixed, an no Emerald dental I did not need to see a specialized, I just needed better dental work. I'm no longer I'm pain and will never return to this office. read more

After I broke a molar, I went in to Emerald. Took photos, gave me a list of things I needed done to everything. Sent me to a specialist for a root canal, with no explanation to why. When I returned for the crown, they would only do the high end treatment with extras. A titanium crown! When I walked in they said it will be $900! This is for the crown and total insurance. I just spent over $300 for the root canal. They refused to do the lower covered options. During this ordeal, no one ever returned my calls for quotes. The specialist said they had complaints about them too. Still in temporary, from the specialist. Waiting for new dentist to just give me a crown to move on with my life. Staff does not return calls.
