The miles of paved highway is surrounded with white sugar sand beaches and towering dunes and beautiful water with lots of parking and not so many people at least the day of our visit. I guess this would be considered a barrier island but regardless of its designation it's one of the most beautiful stretch of beaches that I've come across and I've seen plenty - if you're planning a visit be prepared to spend the day the memories you make here will last you a lifetime, there aren't a lot of amenities if you consider the vastness of this place and please pack out everything you pack in this is one of the most pristine pieces of land I've visited and deserves the respect from all that visit. If there is such a thing as a bucket list item this definitely qualifies and if you're lucky enough to be able to spend some time here just do it - it exceeded all my expectations and I hope to return again soon...

We prefer a more quiet, relaxed beach atmosphere (versus anything like Spring Break). Navarre Beach is that. WAY fewer condos = way fewer people. Don't get me wrong - there's people there. It's just not crazy. The supporting infrastructure (Navarre Beach, and Navarre itself) don't offer up a ton. They have the necessities (a Walgreens, some grocery stores, a decent donut shop...), but lack some of the more touristy things you might want (mini golf, for example - you'll need to drive 30 minutes east or west to find that). Wife wife likes shelling. We've seen better shelling, but she kept busy. :)

Incredible! We frequently see jellyfish floating around. Some days are calm and gentle seas. Another day we witnessed a storm role in. Most recently, the gulf was rocking! Big swells and waves, so reminiscent of the Atlantic. The end of the pier is always busy with fisherman casting lines and families catching together. It's a clear tradition for many people. It's energetic and fun to watch. $1 to walk the pier is worth it. I imagine they use it to maintain the pier because this concrete beast is substantial. Take a walk down the longest pier in the gulf!

The Navarre beach bridge is a nightmare to cross in summer if your a local & live in Navarre Beach…read more It's just a small two lane little bridge, wasn't built for mass traffic like it sees today. When I first moved here I rented a condo on Navarre Beach for 5 months till I found my home. At first, I wanted to live in Navarre beach, but that quickly all changed when I tried to cross this bridge every day to the shopping areas, groceries etc., as there is NO commercialism on Navarre Beach. You have to cross the Navarre bridge to purchase ANYTHING. AND in the summer season the traffic is backed up over it all the way across with traffic barely inching even thou the speed limit is 20MPH. It takes over an hour just to cross it, same thing on the way back. If you go the other way, the 7 mile stretch of beach thru the Santa Rosa Area to the Pensacola Bridge, the speed limit is also 25-35MPH & it's usually backed up & takes well over an hour to get to shopping over there. A nightmare situation. You basically have to schedule your entire life around getting to the grocery store before/after the traffic nightmare begins/ends. What's even worst is during the bird nesting season, the edges of this little bridge become roped off & protected so the birds can nest. They do not like the beach goers walking/jogging along near their babies. It's all very disturbing to their habitat. The moms constantly squeak & squawk it's heartbreaking. I stopped driving there. I do not go there anymore. Navarre beach used to be my favorite place. Now there are just too many people crossing this bridge. If you want to make a change in the world, start with the "man in the mirror." Navarre Bridge - Population minus me. Sometimes "Good-Bye" is the saddest word. Will never Return.

Opal beach is by far my most favorite beach in the Pensacola and not as over crowded as some…read moreothers. Opal beach offers two 'entrances' one is free but doesn't have any facilities. The other is part of the file islands national seashore and charges a small entry fee per car. Big plus: military ID card holders enter for free. This one has gazebos, bbq grills and facilities. What I absolutely love is how clean this beach is and the clear blue water. It's a perfect place to chill.

When our group arrived - they had everything ready and got us checked-in Quickly and got us out on the water in minutes. The deck hands were very thorough on all the safety and operational instructions. We had a great afternoon on Crab Island - and returned to the same helpful Staff at SS. They were great, by far the Best Pontoon rental experience We have ever had after coming to Destin for 16 years now.
