We were traveling through the area with our dog and we try to get her out to stretch her legs and socialize as much as possible on long drives. We found this dog beach on Yelp and decided to take a little detour. There was plenty of parking and a green space, as well as a government building of some sort, and then the fenced off dog beach. Unfortunately once we were walking towards the beach, we saw multiple signs saying that the park was closed. However, there were at least a dozen locals with their dogs inside the enclosed area, so we decided to go in anyway. The atmosphere was welcoming and the dogs were all having a great time sniffing, splashing and chasing balls and each other. There was one covered area for shade and a bench but not too many places for people to sit inside the dog beach. Outside the fenced area, however, there are some tables that are shaded by trees and the building closest to the beach does have a restroom inside if you need one. It felt a little weird to walk past the closed sign to get into the park and I'm still not really sure why those signs were up. We did ask two different people inside the park and they said they just ignore them. When in Rome right? It was a little confusing and I don't know if they were doing a renovation or some sort of update but once we were inside the friendliness of the people and the dogs made up for it and we just enjoyed the atmosphere for a while until our pop was ready to go. If you're in the area with your dog, this might be a gamble but it was a good stop for us. Even if your dog doesn't like the water (ours really gets in) there is still a sandy area where they can run around and play. The community is also welcoming so it's good for socialization. This is legitimately the best dog beach I've ever been to. I've been in town with my dog Molly for the past two weeks and we discovered Bayview from a friends recommendation. We've gone to the Bluffs Park and a couple of other supposed dog beaches at Pensacola Beach but none of them were quite a fit. Pensacola Beach West is labeled as a dog beach but the dogs have to stay on leash and the area is pretty small for the dogs to wander around. Molly immediately took off and had a great time at Bayview Dog Beach, all of the dogs are off leash and it is a fenced in park right on the bay. The dogs were running in and out of the water probably to stay cool but it was really sweet seeing my dog have so much fun. This is our go to dog beach in Pensacola from now on! read more

Most dog beaches require you to keep your dog on a leash which (IMO) totally defeats the purpose however, this is a beach specifically for our furry friends. I've been to the fenced in dog park a couple of times, and was unimpressed, but decided to give the dog beach side a try. We went on a Saturday around 9:00am and it was already pretty busy. It wasn't long and the beach was filled with dogs (eat 15-20). The dogs have a good amount of room to run the beach and play in the water. Overall it was an okay experience, except the lack of control one owner in particular had over their dog. I repeatedly redirected my dog *even though it was the other dog that was the issue*, and had to put myself in-between the other dog as it kept coming after mine. It ruined the experience and I ended up leaving. Other than the repeated incident with the one dog, overall the other dogs and people were great. The park isn't that wonderful BUT for lack of other dog beach areas it's worth giving it a shot. If I do attempt to go there again I'll just try to find a time I think may be less hectic. I think that would make a huge difference. read more

Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I decided to take our rescue dog, Copper, on his first beach vacation this month (we're from AL). The first day we were here we immediately went to this beach. The people there were so nice and the dogs were friendly too! Copper is very timid when meeting new dogs (not aggressive, he just gets shy), and this place actually helped him a lot! He started playing with dogs for the first time, which he NEVER used to do. He loved coming here during our stay, he would literally wake us up and give us "the look"... knowing he would get to go to this place. Overall, great place, awesome people, and friendly dogs! We decided to get out of Dodge during Hurricane Mathew- so we drove 9 hours up to Pensacola. Never been here before, but it looked nice on the map and the hotel was reasonable. Since we have our dog with us, we were limited as to where we can go. No mall shopping or restaurants for my daughter and me :( We found a dog park on Yelp! We made the drive. This place has everything a dog will love- and it's all fenced in. It's right on a bayou, so our dog was a happy swimmer, played with other dogs on the grassy area, ran and jumped on all the fun platforms, grabbed a drink of fresh water from the numerous dog bowls, and then had a bath at the bathing area. There are benches for the humans to relax on while the dogs sniff each other's butts and some picnic tables. read more

My boyfriend and I took Mr. Stinky with us to Florida so he could swim in the water with other dogs... but first, if you follow the directions on Yelp with Google Maps, you will end up in a neighborhood.. so just look up Bayview Park, and once there you will be able to see the dog beach. Just trying to find the place was a nightmare. So anyways, when we arrived he was on a leash, (Mr. Stinky, not my boyfriend) and as soon as we opened the gates some old man told us to take him off the leash or the other dogs would attack him..... not sure what was up with that, kinda freaked me out. I brushed it off as an elderly slip of the tongue just trying to be helpful. There were many dogs there, they were all friendly with our dog. It took a few minutes for Luke to realize he could go in the water but once he figured it out he swam like Mr. Phelps. He even had other pups swimming with him. The dog beach is not a very large area, so there is potential for a crowd. But there are a good amount of benches and shade. And there is a 'dog shower', which was really helpful. In the water there is a platform for humans and dogs to jump off. There were both dogs and people in the water. It was especially funny to see one woman try to teach her Italian Greyhound to swim. Was so funny my stomach almost started hurting. Actually, we got video of it. All in all we had a good time, and Mr. Stinky had a good swim and play time with his new friends. This is the only place in Pensacola that I know of that has a dog beach. (Close by anyways) The crowd is friendly both humans and dogs. Our puppies like to run up and down the beach and occasionally they swim. (When we call them out into the water with the offer of a treat) If you bring your own supplies,shampoo and towel, you can give Fido a bath afterwards. (I love this because I get to wash them after they have been in the water and it helps to take the sand off) There is also a Dog Park that is just above the dog beach. There is a small side and a large side. The area is fenced so we let our puppies run around. (We have 3 in varying ages-1yr,5yr, and 9yr) There is a hose and a bowl or bucket for the dogs to get a drink. There are 2 picnic tables in the small dog area. Not quite sure how many on the large side because we tend to stay with the smaller dogs (It seems I have chickens instead of dogs sometimes. Hehehe), but there seem to be plenty from what I remember seeing. It can get crowded but if you stick around you see the waves and it has times where it is not to be bad. It's worth a visit. Love this dog beach. I give it 4 stars because sometimes the dog owners aren't as mindful of their dogs as they should be. Guess that's not the parks fault.... Anyway, be watchful of your dog and know how to break up a dog fight if you need to. Since we had the flood back in April and the park closed for awhile for repairs, the water has been a lot cleaner for some reason. Which is a plus. But really, my dog and I love this beach, we drive all the way across town just for this dog beach. read more

My dog, Mason, has grown up in the dog park and will be turning a year old soon. He loves the dog beach and we try to go at least every Sunday. As for kids, there is a sign on the gate and I believe that the rule is no kids under 16 without supervision. The dog beach is awesome and the only place like it in the area. I wish we could set up a couple more around the area. Unfortunately, the dog beach was destroyed in the flooding and is closed. All I can say about the Bayview Dog Beach is AWESOME! Recently relocated to this area and my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to take our chocolate lab Oliver to really run around and burn some energy. After finding this location on Yelp we decided to give it a try. We're extremely happy we did! The park is very large and consists of a beach side and a park side in case you don't want your pup getting all wet from the beach water. The amount of dog's and owners is great. Oliver loved making new dog friends and getting out all of his energy, talk about one happy Labrador! The areas are all fenced in as well so you can let your dog go and not worry about them taking off if they are a runner (like mine can be.. but I still love him :) ) The one thing I will recommend is bring lots of towels, it is very sandy and beachy if you take your dog to that side, and paper towels if your dog is a drooler. I noticed when a bunch of them all get together and play they tend to get very excited and drool. All in all, this is one of the BEST dog parks in Pensacola, if your visiting or just moved here like we did this is the place to take your pup/pups! :) read more

I've brought my dog here many, many times. The good is that my dog LOVES this beach. There is room to run, swim, and play. There are doggy bags provided and a bath station for a hose-off before you leave. Unfortunately, the bad is why I won't be bringing my dog here any more. First, though most people and dogs are great, it IS a dog park and inherently people bring kids to swim, aggressive dogs, unhealthy dogs, or just don't follow the rules. In fact, my dog was just bitten by an aggressive dog recently at this beach and needed surgery to repair the damage (yes, it's the risk you take at a dog park... but still isn't fun!). Second, and most concerning, the water is NOT CLEAN. People cannot swim in it (though they do anyway) and that means your dog shouldn't be in it either. If you are going to take your dog here, please make sure your dog is well-socialized and not even remotely aggressive. This (or any other dog park) is not the appropriate place to bring your pet to socialize for the first time or a young puppy. Also, leave your kids at home and follow the rules posted outside! Kids get knocked down, scratched, run over and whatever else - it's a dog park! The rules that say no kids are for your kids' protection! I've seen toddlers swimming in the nasty water get knocked underwater by dogs. And last, make sure you are very aware of how dirty the water is. If you or your dog have open wounds, don't go! And make sure you keep a close eye on your pup afterwards for signs of infection. TLDR: Overall, the dogs LOVE this place and about 60% of the time, there aren't any issues. However, the water is VERY dirty and less than ideal people and dogs frequent the place. Last, please don't bring aggressive dogs to any park. read more

Besides the two fenced areas, the overall park area is large with beautiful trees, plenty of garbage bins and poop bags. Was visiting from up north and really appreciated the park for my two dogs. First pet beach that was fenced in that I have ever seen. Very nice place with lots of things for dogs to do. There were even platforms just off shore if you wanted to swim to them with your dog. There is even a hose/shower for you to spray your dog or just shoot it so he can play bite the water. Only downside is that if there are big dogs don't bring the little fella. Come get a fresh coat of that wet dog smell at Bayview Dog Beach. Throw some toys in the water, teach your pooch to swim or run in the sand on a nice stretch of dedicated coast. Every dog on this beach seems like they're having a good time and the water makes the animals very playful. The parking lot is not a long walk, making it easy to go to and from the beach. If the beach isn't your thing, there's fenced grass/sand/trees just north with large area for dogs to run around. Some people pick up poop but you can see old nuggets but that's normal. Bayview dog beach is a nice place for dogs and many breed groups meet here. Sit back, let your pet play and enjoy the coastal breeze. read more

This is a favorite spot for me and my furry fool. Fortunately we haven't encountered any of the aggressive dogs some of the other users have mentioned, but I do know they have a sign on the front gate that addresses that (like that does anything). Anyhow, the beach area is not the biggest or most scenic, but it definitely provides enough room for your fool to run to his/her heart's content. They also have a couple hoses so you can hose them down before the trip home. So far, all the dog owners I have met here have been very friendly, as well as their dogs. Just checked out this dog park this past weekend and it seems very nice. I hadn't been to a dog park before that has a beach for the dogs and owners. Out in the water there is a floating platform with steps to allow both dogs and owners to swim out and jump off. The beach park isn't all too big and it is a bit crowded, but there is a reason it is crowded. Most of the dogs seemed nice. The ones that got rowdy were leashed by their owners. There is also a nice platform for washing off your dog. One of the other reviews mentions kids under 16 not being allowed. I don't know what the official rules are, but there were definitely kids under 16 at the beach park. The dry dog park is just across the parking lot and has a larger than 25lb area as well as a less than 25lb fenced area. The park also has a nice walking path, boat dock, tennis courts and some picnic areas. read more

Anyways I found this dog park through Yelp, and its a great place!! All the dogs are swimming and running around. Moved here to Pensacola from San Diego and was looking for a good dog park out here and came across this one . This dog beach is the best! Lots of room to run and jump and play in the water. They have 2 covered areas to sit and watch your canine play. Please only bring your dog if they get along with other dogs. I hate seeing animals fight and get hurt . They have a shower station to rinse off your pooch after a fun day in the water. Also doggy poop stations with baggies to pick up after your dog. Great place to take my lab mix to get out her wiggles. She loved running along the water and playing with the other dogs that were there. When we got there it wasn't super busy (maybe 5 dogs total) but many more had arrived as we were leaving and we saw even more that had just arrived in the parking lot. Lots of room to run even if your dog doesn't want to get in the water, and a second dog park is across the parking lot if you wanted a non-beach option. The only negative is that children under 16 are not allowed. I understand this rules as a safely measure but most dog parks allow children under 16 if with a parent. The sign on this park clearly states they are not allowed and that the park is just for the dogs/owners. Having said that, there were several younger children in the park so perhaps not all parents saw the two signs that state this at the entrance, or they choose to ignore it. I had my kids sit at the picnic bench just on the other side of the fence where I could still see them and they could watch the dogs safely and without breaking the rules. We didn't know that was the rule before we drove there otherwise we wouldn't have gone as a family. read more

A couple of days ago, my golden retriever was brutally attacked by another dog. The owner stood there and did absolutely nothing as my dog bled out. Luckily, there were many good people in that park to help me. But we have had many situations where dogs have tried to hurt my dog and the owners did nothing. My dog was never at fault, and she would never hurt a flea. She loves everyone and every dog. She is now brutally injured and will never be the same. Just be careful here, and as many good experiences I have had, there have been several bad ones. I will never return. read more

Coming from Texas, I was really surprised to find out that dogs aren't welcome in most Florida beaches. What a bummer, especially since we planned this trip just for the dogs! A few people suggested we go take our dogs here. This park is great for dogs and humans alike. It's located along the bay so the water isn't as choppy as the gulf, which translates to great swimming for my dogs. And because it's along a real bay, we brought our kayak here and kayaked around with our dogs. When we got back, they played some more with other dogs. It's great! There's a cleaning station to rinse your dog once they're done playing. It's located inside the fenced area, near the entrance. There's only one hose though so be considerate to other dog owners. Just like any other dog park, you have to keep a watchful eye on your dog, pick up after them and they must be current on all their vaccinations. It's my understanding this is the beach portion of the dog park. Supposedly there's a dry section as well, but I didn't see nor was I looking for it. read more
