We loved this zoo! It looks small from the outside but it really is amazing and full of a lot of cool animals on the inside. I recommend buying food to feed the animals. Great small experience zoo, this isn't your big zoo where they really push spending on you and eating places. 1/4 of it is designed for you to feed all sorts of animals and have an alpaca cut all the other animals off when feeding them lol. The giraffe feeding was fun and they have a great small display of all sorts of animals. If you want a quick 2 hours zoo and have some kind people to talk to where your time is yours alone. Every time we go on vacation, we have to find a zoo. The Emerald Coast zoo did not disappoint. You can tell the animals are well cared for and the zoo grounds are extremely clean and well kept. This does not seem to be the norm with many small family run zoos in the US There is a large variety of animals some of which we've never seen in enlarged shoes and this is one of the few zoos we've been to where the animals are active and almost interact with visitors. While we were there, the lions that are penned together or playful and seemed interested in the humans on the other side of the fence. We fed the giraffes which include a young one who is very adorable. We also had a nice interaction with one of the zoo staff who was cleaning out the porcupine pen. She was very informative and was willing to answer questions about the porcupines and gave us some information about other animals that we would encounter in the zoo. Overall, it was a good experience and we would highly recommend the zoo to people who enjoy learning about animals or just want something different to do. On a fun note we appreciated that the signage told us the names of some of the animals like two emus named Karen and water buffaloes named fast and slow, if you're a fan of Veggietales, you'll get that last reference. read more

It's a nice little zoo to check out. Giraffes, lions, reptiles are fenced in, but roosters and chickens are running around the grounds. I rented a golf cart to get around which worked well but the steering was pretty tough to manage, especially on the rugged terrain. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is driving down Deer Springs Road to the zoo itself, very tough terrain, very sandy and probably gets very muddy after a rain shower. All in all, it was a nice experience. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by this zoo, our first time visiting. We brought our 2 yr old granddaughter and she really enjoyed seeing some familiar animals and curious about the not-so-familiar ones. The price was fair considering the size of the complex and the variety of animals. There was plenty of shade for the hotter days but most enclosures were out in the open, bring sunscreen and an umbrella. We had a good time and will most likely be back with our other granddaughter. read more

This place is a little hidden gem. What a nice zoo with a good variety of animals. The zoo has nice calm atmosphere. They offer zoo encounters for an extra charge. However, you can just pay for seeds to feed the bird, lettuce for the giraffes or kibble for the , goat, sheep, donkeys, pig, emus, and alpacas. Really nice staff with a cute little snack bar with reasonable drinks and snacks. The gift shop was very nice. The sign to turn into the zoo from HWY 90 can be over looked but that would be the only negative. They offer free parking. A down fall might be if you had mobility issues. In keeping to have the animals in a natural environment there are a lot of trees and roots. I tripped pretty bad on a tree root. The walk ways are sand/dirt and might cause issues with getting around. Still a final conclusion...it is very nice establishment and a great few hours of fun. read more

Absolutely a great day trip from PCB. It's much nicer and spacious for the animals that our zoo here. Lots of big cats and our favorite the Binturong which was surprisingly alert. We arrived early and were second in line. There is lots of space for the children to run around without being a nuisance to other folk. Do make sure you stop by the Prairie dogs which are such fun. The giraffes are trying for a baby and with that will come more expansion for the zoo. The gift shop also has some very nice hats. Great Value, Great Fun and Great animals. read more

They have transformed this once animal refuge into a family centered, interactive zoo. A wonderful, peaceful zoo. Not commerciallized and laid back. Clean and very well kept. No hurry, spend all the time you want with every animal you desire. Lots of walking and a couple of snack shacks. Well worth the drive and time. I really love the parakeet cage. You can buy a feed stick and experience a parakeet standing on your hand. This is a very cool zoo. This isn't your typical zoo. This zoo has a more farm like feel. I like this zoo. It feels like someone started a farm and as they added more animals they invited people and charged money. I would definitely go back! Animals are very friendly and the front half of the zoo will let them pet you. They had a deer there that loved its chin scratched! It was the cutest thing! Also, the water buffalo loved their face scratched! Pet at your own risk. There are signs saying that the animals may bite. As zoo's go, this has a lot of the animals that typical zoos have. It's smaller than some of the other zoos I've been too. You can see everything in about 2 hours. Even so, it is worth a visit

We have a season pass to Emerald Coast Zoo and go to this zoo at least once a week! This zoo is super family friendly and interactive. We love feeding all the animals including but not limited to the goats, alpacas, donkeys, birds (in the fence), and the giraffes (my daughter loved calling Jo Jo over for some lettuce). And where else can you experience rubbing the shell of a 100 year old tortoise (Gertie is seriously my favorite part). If you are looking for a smaller family owned zoo than this is the right zoo for you! As a mom who brings her babies alone I also love that there's only one entrance and one exit ( which is through the gift shop which always has someone in there). read more

There was one staff member that got a little snippy with me when correcting my lingo from monkey to ape, which I appreciate but cool your jets lady! My b. That a side I will say this zoo is more suited for very young kiddos lots of petting animals and room to run about. It looks like they were undergoing some additional construction to expand. This is the favorite zoo that I have ever been to I got to feed the wallabies hold the baby kangaroos, The animals are walking around with you (ducks/peacocks/rabbits) The female llama is a trip! The staff are awesome. You can ride the camel for $10 hold a sloth, for $100, and you can paint with the lemurs for a certain amount. The birdcage is really awesome too although I felt like I was going to step on a bird. It's not a big zoo and it won't take you long to get through it but I spent two hours there and I could've spent longer. It is the best do I've ever been to not due to size or how exotic the animals are, but with the hands-on program of the zoo. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

Emerald Coast Zoo is a small family owned establishment that is great for children without the hassle of long lines, crowds, overly expensive food and drinks and lots and lots of walking. This place reminded me of a large petting zoo, but with that family feel. We were able to park and walk right in. We actually purchased our tickets on groupon for an even greater discount to their already reasonable prices. There is a small gift shop and restrooms available but no options for food or drinks so pack your own. There is food avail to feed the animals and I believe we paid about $5 for three bags. It takes about an hour to walk around the entire property but this can become longer if you feed the animals or stop and speak with the staff. This was a very pleasant experience and one that I would recommend to anyone. read more

I brought my daughter back to the zoo after 11 years, she's now 16. We had such a wonderful time. Everything was a great experience. The zoo was very clean and well maintained. All of the animals were so gentle and kind that we were able to pet and feed. We spent hours there just loving on the animals. I would recommend going to anyone of all ages. However, since we live in Florida, some of the exhibits could use some more shading...but of course it is hard to get away from those hot and humid summer temperatures! Loved it! read more

Highly recommend for a fun family time! Was looking for a short outing with the stir crazy family, and this was perfect. Great selection of animals, very friendly staff, well done for its size. It's all outdoors, so easy to "social distance" in this day and age, but also don't go when too hot! Bring a water bottle. I bet it's awesome in the Fall. Stroller friendly grounds also. Spent a little over an hour there with four kids under 7, could have spent longer. People comment that it's small or has weeds etc, none of that is fully accurate or should dissuade you from stopping by. Much there to enjoy! Does have a small snack stand and gift shop also. I've been to almost every on the east coast and this was by far the best Zoo I have ever attended! Ranger Rick personally escorted us around the different enclosures giving us all access to the different animals. They have the most exotic animals; tigers, baboons, kangaroos and many more which names I can't even pronounce. They even have Camel rides for only $10! All the staff members were very polite and extremely tentative to our experience. Nearly all of the Zoo was shaded which was a plus! The best part, they are still developing brand new enclosures! Great little zoo! We bought a membership. They have a great variety of animals; to include a tiger, white tigers and a lion. It was so fun watching the feeding of the tiger and lion. The staff told me that at the end of March they are expecting to get their new giraffe in. We can't wait. We really enjoyed being able to feed most of the animals. My 4 and 3 year olds had a blast. They are very interactive with the guests, knowledgable about their animals and habitats, and they truly treat their animals as though they were family! This is a super cool place if you have little kids! It's more of a wildlife reserve instead of a zoo. My grandson is 2 1/2 and we rode the camel and fed goats. He really got a kick out of the bird aviary where all the little finches come down and land on you. Its far more up close and personal than a zoo. The people there are super nice too!
