My body started to relax immediately when she started treating me with acupuncture, and I was in a blissful daze for hours after!!! Booking my appointment online was a breeze as well. It's not just the high quality of the acupuncture itself but the mindset she's putting me in, with practical advices (food, types of movement, even how to frame the whole health thing for me...), that make it worth the trip for me. I went again recently after the birth of my daughter to invest in a little self care with a womb massage from Bianca and it was amazing! Bianca took the time to hear my concerns beforehand and evaluate the current state of my body. The womb massage felt so nurturing and relaxing - so much so that I woke myself from my own snoring! I told Bianca that that rarely happens and speaks to the power of her healing hands which just melted away tension and gave my body the attention it needed postpartum. I highly recommend Luminae and the awesome team of strong, nurturing, and empowering team of women that provide such thoughtful care. I'm looking forward to booking a deep tissue massage next!

This is my go-to place in the area because they open late and provide good service. Similar apothecaries in Oakland Chinatown close at 6pm and are usually more crowded so you'll have to wait ~10-20 mins longer for a custom order. Also you can get a bubble tea while you wait, if you're into that sort of treat. Note: If the formula is in pinyin they can fill it for you (I usually write it out in Chinese characters). It's true they don't speak much English, but at least service is friendly. They have a good selection of bulk herbs and do not display endangered species, which I appreciate. The price is very affordable, but if you need your herbs to be higher quality (i.e. gluten free, pesticide free, etc.) and don't mind paying more for it, try Shen Clinic down San Pablo near Marin Ave. They carry Springwind Herbs which tests for 400 kinds of pesticides.

The approach to talking about my injury was "accessible" to my "western medicine" upbringing. And most importantly: my third visit was like turning the switch off for my pain. I probably had a pinched nerve in my neck, but due to delays seeing a pain specialist through my primary care, I was trying anything. I ultimately was seeing a "western medicine" doctor and Tao to Wellness at the same time. But the timing of my pain shutting off is strongly suggestive that acupuncture played a big part in shortening the duration (which my "western medicine" pain specialist had suggested would be possible). Deanna was my acupuncturist.
