On 1-16-26 I purchased tickets and concessions via my emagine rewards app for Zootopia 2 at 6:30pm in Birch Run, MI. Upon arrival at the theater, I checked in at the front desk/concession area. I received my concessions that I pre-purchased. I was alone with my child as a single parent. I grabbed 2 of their trays for the seats to hold the popcorns and drinks and began juggling all of that alone. I proceeded to my theater and was met by a staff member that said they were still cleaning and we would need to wait in the hall. When I asked where I could place the trays and food I was juggling I was told "I don't know" I asked for a manager and I had 3 "managers" come up to me. I explained that I was juggling all of this as a single parent and they said " maybe don't come so early". I said that the staff member should advise the theater doesn't open until 30 mins before a show and she said " we can't catch everyone".... I was then told "enjoy my show there is nothing we can do for you." Nothing like a theatre that isn't "family friendly" and doesn't care about the customer read more

Definitely a cut above the average movie-going experience. I rather like this theatre, even if it is a little pricier than some of the others in the area, but the positives definitely outweigh any of the negative aspects. Pros: it has an actual full-service bar, so I can get my drink on- I mean serious drinks, too, not just beer and wine, but full-on mixed drinks/specialty cocktails. The drinks are not cheap, though. Let's just call it what it is- "convenience prices," particularly for the beers on tap. Case in point? $10 for a short Angry Orchard??? Yep, that's what I paid. I don't know how much the taller version cost because I didn't bother to ask. Honestly though, the cocktail prices are in line with some of the casinos in Vegas, but we all know the old saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do," so there's that. Beyond being able to drink here, they have a decent restaurant with regular food, like pizza (i.e. not just popcorn and Twizzlers movie theatre junk). Again, high prices, but you can actually say it's real food, not just candy and junk food. If you're adverse to eating popcorn or fried mozzarella sticks, it might be the way to go. Oh, and for the popcorn noshers, they had a huge variety of cheese/seasoning shakers located in the lobby to season popcorn. I liked the extra options because plain salt is boring. Unfortunately, they are attached to the backboard on a wire, probably to decrease the occurrences of theft. Seriously, who the heck steals popcorn seasoning? As for the theatre itself, this one has super comfortable reclining seats with foot rests. These are the best movie theatre seats anywhere. They were so comfortable, I almost fell asleep during a screening of Alien:Covenant- almost. It's obvious this particular Emagine location was renovated pretty recently. Those seats were new and I could tell. The upgrades were nice and definitely needed. It's obvious this particular Emagine location was renovated recently. I've been here a few times before, but it's much nicer than it used to be, although it always had the bar and whatnot. They also had wait service during the film. Seriously, they took food and drink orders from inside the theatre and brought it to our seats! Emagine staff would drop by and ask if we needed anything from the bar or grill. I liked that! It's the best appointed movie theatre in the area, without a doubt. Getting through ticket purchase and concessions in the lobby was a breeze. Despite the crowd, those lines moved at a lightening pace. I was surprised because I thoroughly expected the line from hell. The cons: there really weren't many. Yes, the ticket price was very slightly elevated (no doubt, to defray the costs of such a nice upgrade), but it was worth it. Plus, they don't have traditional IMAX screens, either, like NCG. Instead, they have 3D and DBOX, which isn't exactly the same. The only other potentially negative aspect (and I'm not even sure if it couldn't be either a pro or a con, depending upon the situation) was that now you have to select your seats on a screen during ticket purchase. Hmm. It remains to be seen whether I really like that change or not. I can totally see why they are doing it- to prevent overselling of tickets and ensuring that groups/couples can sit together. I get it. I just don't know if I love it yet. I also wonder if this new method might cause more headaches or delays during ticket purchase, but I'm not sure. It wasn't a big deal to us at that time, but I could see it potentially becoming a bit bothersome down the line. Like I said, I see why they're doing it, I just don't know if I like it or not. Overall, great theatre with excellent service and amenities. I know I'll be going back. read more

Saw the Avengers Endgame. Great movie. Not a great place. No security. My car was hit in the parking lot. No video surveillance. Managers won't even talk to ya abut. Just say call police. Seems to be a pretty common thing. Birch run police offices I spoke to seems to have been thru this a number of times. He seemed to know all about no security and surveillance. Gonna rethink my theatre choice in the future. read more

Came here for a nice family outing. My mistake! Although we liked the comfortable seating it was too cold in there to enjoy the movie. Saw Madea Family Funeral which has a PG-13 rating. The language was deplorable as was the the subject matter. It's a comedy but it kept changing from a comedy to a soap opera. It wasn't suitable for the two 13-year olds we had with us. It should've been rated R. If you're thinking of taking your kids to this don't waste your time or your money. read more

Movie experience was great. Ordered food that was supposed to be delivered to sears and we ended up having to leave the movie to go it ourselves after waiting nearly an hour for it. First and foremost the recliner seats, that is the highlight of course they are so spacious and comfortable and the snuggling couches are so cute and they are comfy too even if they are up front. The concession stand has a lot of options, they even have actual food like pizza and hamburgers. They even have alcoholic beverages!! Prices are pretty comparable to other theaters. They have assigned seating which is nice so you know exactly where you are sitting and if there are enough seats for your group to sit together ahead of time. Employees are always friendly! We love this theater and do a little extra travel time just to visit this theater over our own local theater, definitely worth it! read more

When I moved to Birch Run and found out Cinema Hollywood served alcohol, I was a bit excited to try this theater out. The guys that waited on my friend and I were really friendly. We both ordered margaritas. Holy crap. You could smell the tequila even with the lid on! It was almost like we were leaving a margarita scented air freshener trail...People prob caught a buzz from us walking by! It was delicious. Good sized theater too. Haven't tried the D Box seats yet, I'm curious now that I read they vibe and shift. Could be a new adventure! read more

Very pleased with this theater with only one large complaint. The volume is excessive! I wear ear plugs at Emagine Birch Run although the showing of the 'Eternals' last week still left me with a pounding headache. This is really the only place I go to see a movie. Its close prices are decent and it has a bar. Seating is stadium seating and now offers D Box seating (which is extra and depends on the movie) its the chair that vibes and shifts. The popcorn and pop are pricey. They do offer combos and you can get **refills for 25 cents. read more

Awesome movie theater right off the highway when traveling North. They have a open bar for drinkers and offer combo deals at the snack stand. If your a student, you get a discount if you show your student ID. Clean bathrooms and the staff is always friendly. read more

My father and I do father/daughter movies often and Emagine has been our go-to theatre for a long time. However, during our movie going experience today to see Avengers Endgame, my fathers vehicle was damaged by another car while we were inside. When my father attempted to speak with a manager, they refused to even get on the phone with him and the worker who did answer informed him there are NO, I repeat NO cameras on the parking lot. This means that they have NO concern for their customers, whether for the safety of our vehicles or us. Not only is it disconcerting knowing there are no cameras watching the safety of people and vehicles in their parking lot, the absolute disrespect from the manager refusing to even speak with my father is appalling. read more

Hoping that Paul Glantz President of Emagine which operates the Cinema Hollywood will read this review. Movies SHOULD start at the SCHEDULED showtime NOT 12 minutes late OR 15 minutes late as the previous movie I watched 2 days earlier. It's WRONG to reward people that come in late and punish people that arrive early before the posted show time. Even though the movie started 12 minutes late, rude people came into the theater after the movie finally started and were noisy. Once again, start a movie at the SCHEDULED time to reward people that arrive early and PUNISH the people that are late. Each and every time I order popcorn it's always over salted and stale popcorn is mixed in with fresh popcorn. The popcorn machine should be cleaned once in a while and the stale popcorn thrown out. If the movies would have started on time and the popcorn would have been fresh, I would have given a 5 star rating. Consider showing Independently produced movies so a person doesn't have to drive Ann Arbor to view them. read more

I like the reclining chairs and spaces in between the chairs. You do not have to move when someone gets up. They improved the movie theater by upgrading it. The popcorn and pop is to much money. Also pizza is expensive but very tasty. I like Carmel and cheddar popcorn. There has been times when I get free small popcorn if you get enough points on your loyalty card. Then I updated it to a large because you get it only for $2.00 more. Then value of the popcorn is worth buying. I bought in my own water because they give me this small cup or you could pay $4.00 for water. Some people hide candy, pop, and water to get away from paying the high prices. Lot of movies I see there are amazing. read more

Cinema Hollywood serves its purpose, filling in a void of movie theatres in the area. It is generally well-maintained and has ample sound systems as well as both film and digital projectors. You can expect to find most major first-run films showing, but almost never any independent films, unfortunately. All in all, it's a good theatre for a night out. read more

Went to the new EMAX theater that opened up at the Birch Run location. Very impressed, what can I say? I've been to several Dolby Vision theaters in NYC, Las Vegas and Detroit, as well as Alamo in Dallas and Warren Theaters in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, was very impressed by the EMAX at this location. GDX in Saginaw and AMC's Dolby Vision has the same Atmos sound tech, but for whatever reason, it seems to be effectively implemented here. The picture was a bit fuzzy, don't know, could be various reasons why, but I enjoyed the showing of It shown at this theater this weekend. Will definitely be back for Kingsman 2, Thor and maybe Star Wars VIII. read more

I usually have a good experience at this theatre but after today will never go back - My family and I paid good money to see a PG-13 movie for it to be ruined by someone who thought their infant should be in the theatre talking, crying and fussing all through the movie - when we complained the manager (who looked 12 and didn't rectify the situation or obviously showed no managerial experience) told us that children were allowed in the movies if their parents are with them. I'm just sharing because we didn't know that that was allowed and want to warn people that their experiences can be ruined and staff will do nothing about it. read more

I haven't been to this theatre in nearly 3 years, but went recently and was impressed by the nice recliners. Although they were a bit awkward at first it was nice to be able to adjust them so much because I have lower back issues that cause a lot of pain sitting in regular seating most places. I was confused and mildly irritated with the assigned seating thing, but we just bought an aisle seat and the one next to it, as I am extremely uncomfortable sitting right next to strangers in the dark, and my husband sat on the inside seat. These recliners mean that they cant fit nearly as many people in each movie screening so that justifies some of the price increase as well as helps keep crowd noise down in my opinion. This is definitely what I would consider a luxury theatre with all the upgrades they've put in, so you should expect the price to be higher on everything. Popcorn is still amazing quality after all these years so for a once-in-awhile kind of date night, I didn't mind the price that much. Screen & audio quality both were excellent, theatre was very clean, and I was able to enjoy my movie experience fully. I can't speak for the men's room but the ladies' restroom could use a little bit of that upgrade budget in the near future - one of the stall doors didn't even lock and, as I'm a bit picky, it took several stalls before I found one that I was willing to use. Best movie theater within a 50 mile radius. This theater is located in Birch Run and is a much safer area than Flint or Saginaw. It is cleaner than the other theaters and you can have a martini while watching your movie. What more can you ask for. I love this theater. read more

I live in Saginaw and have always traveled to Birch Run for any movie we watch. I have never had any issues until this year. The movie we went to see this past Sunday was my worst movie experience ever!!!! The movie has been out for a few weeks so the theatre was far from full maybe 10-15 people at most. About 30 minutes into the movie in walks a group of about 5 people that were seated right next to me... OMGoodness these were the noisiest people that I have ever heard in a theatre. They were rude and talked and yelled throughout the remaining show. One of us should have went outside to let staff know however why should we miss any part of the movie to go and do something that should already be done. I have complained in the past about staff not coming in to check movie goers using their phones or just being plane loud. If any staff member would have come in at anytime during this movie they would have heard plenty of talking going on. Also I have been a loyalty member for several years and have always accumulated many points for free tickets and concession purchases... since the program has changed this system has not been easy to follow and the staff is clueless as well. I always get the same combo and one time I went and used some of my "free items", I was told I needed to upgrade the small to medium or large items. The first time I was told this I was charged like $7, the 2nd time (with the same order) I was charged almost $17. I asked why so different from last visit the employee did not know and said I can talk to the manager later about it. I said no I will go ahead and be late for the show and talk to them now. The manager came over refunded my money and charged me $12??? I cannot understand how the system works! I will never order a small popcorn or small pop so how do I truly upgrade? It seems I always have to explain or call a manager over. I LOVE this theatre and really hate to choose another but I dislike having any issues. I just want to go to a movie and "enjoy the show"!
