Waiting for the movie to start
Jackie K.

My 3 and 4 year old grandchildren love the movies. The recliners make the experience even better. They can bring their favorite blankets and kick back. We bring cups for popcorn. The game room only takes cash for the machine to get tokens. The only negative is only a couple of the machines even work. Young children were upset. So only wish owners would do upkeep and fix them. They lost probably a good $20-$40 twice now. Cash needed for the Photo Booth in the game room, It makes a great photo keepsake to take home. Fix the games in the game room and it's 5 stars. Employees were Very respectful and helpful for a Grandmother with her hands full with 2 small children. A great day for grandchildren and a Mimi! Thanks

The assigned seats. Keep your $9.50 and stay home.
Ami A.

Assigned seating? Talk about making a simple transaction a total pain in the rear! Now to meet friends (or your children to meet friends) you have to try to coordinate so that you can sit together. What a hassle! If you wait to purchase the tickets individually when your friends arrive, the other ticket lines are pulling on the same seats too. Talk about complicating a movie with friends! What happens if someone sits in your assigned seat and you can't be next to your friends provided you do happen to get all your seats together? You need to go out and pull someone in to enforce it. Ugh NCG. They now serve beer and wine too so, not only do you need to be concerned about if your children will be able to sit with their friends who arrive at different times, but will there be someone stuck in between them that can't go 2 hrs without a beer while out? On thé plus side, the chairs are more padded -- which will last for how long -- but we're left with paying $9.50 for assigned seats stressfully bought. Poor move NCG. Poor move. You took the fun out of coming to the movie with this assigned seating nonsense.

Definitely a cut above the average movie-going experience…read more I rather like this theatre, even if it is a little pricier than some of the others in the area, but the positives definitely outweigh any of the negative aspects. Pros: it has an actual full-service bar, so I can get my drink on- I mean serious drinks, too, not just beer and wine, but full-on mixed drinks/specialty cocktails. The drinks are not cheap, though. Let's just call it what it is- "convenience prices," particularly for the beers on tap. Case in point? $10 for a short Angry Orchard??? Yep, that's what I paid. I don't know how much the taller version cost because I didn't bother to ask. Honestly though, the cocktail prices are in line with some of the casinos in Vegas, but we all know the old saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do," so there's that. Beyond being able to drink here, they have a decent restaurant with regular food, like pizza (i.e. not just popcorn and Twizzlers movie theatre junk). Again, high prices, but you can actually say it's real food, not just candy and junk food. If you're adverse to eating popcorn or fried mozzarella sticks, it might be the way to go. Oh, and for the popcorn noshers, they had a huge variety of cheese/seasoning shakers located in the lobby to season popcorn. I liked the extra options because plain salt is boring. Unfortunately, they are attached to the backboard on a wire, probably to decrease the occurrences of theft. Seriously, who the heck steals popcorn seasoning? As for the theatre itself, this one has super comfortable reclining seats with foot rests. These are the best movie theatre seats anywhere. They were so comfortable, I almost fell asleep during a screening of Alien:Covenant- almost. It's obvious this particular Emagine location was renovated pretty recently. Those seats were new and I could tell. The upgrades were nice and definitely needed. It's obvious this particular Emagine location was renovated recently. I've been here a few times before, but it's much nicer than it used to be, although it always had the bar and whatnot. They also had wait service during the film. Seriously, they took food and drink orders from inside the theatre and brought it to our seats! Emagine staff would drop by and ask if we needed anything from the bar or grill. I liked that! It's the best appointed movie theatre in the area, without a doubt. Getting through ticket purchase and concessions in the lobby was a breeze. Despite the crowd, those lines moved at a lightening pace. I was surprised because I thoroughly expected the line from hell. The cons: there really weren't many. Yes, the ticket price was very slightly elevated (no doubt, to defray the costs of such a nice upgrade), but it was worth it. Plus, they don't have traditional IMAX screens, either, like NCG. Instead, they have 3D and DBOX, which isn't exactly the same. The only other potentially negative aspect (and I'm not even sure if it couldn't be either a pro or a con, depending upon the situation) was that now you have to select your seats on a screen during ticket purchase. Hmm. It remains to be seen whether I really like that change or not. I can totally see why they are doing it- to prevent overselling of tickets and ensuring that groups/couples can sit together. I get it. I just don't know if I love it yet. I also wonder if this new method might cause more headaches or delays during ticket purchase, but I'm not sure. It wasn't a big deal to us at that time, but I could see it potentially becoming a bit bothersome down the line. Like I said, I see why they're doing it, I just don't know if I like it or not. Overall, great theatre with excellent service and amenities. I know I'll be going back.

Upon arrival at the theater, I checked in at the front desk/concession area. I received my concessions that I pre-purchased. I was alone with my child as a single parent. I grabbed 2 of their trays for the seats to hold the popcorns and drinks and began juggling all of that alone. I proceeded to my theater and was met by a staff member that said they were still cleaning and we would need to wait in the hall. When I asked where I could place the trays and food I was juggling I was told "I don't know" I asked for a manager and I had 3 "managers" come up to me. I explained that I was juggling all of this as a single parent and they said " maybe don't come so early". I said that the staff member should advise the theater doesn't open until 30 mins before a show and she said " we can't catch everyone".... I was then told "enjoy my show there is nothing we can do for you." Nothing like a theatre that isn't "family friendly" and doesn't care about the customer

They have bizarro…read more"cuddle seats" in the very front - not sure why anyone would want those except for possibly illicit reasons? But ignoring those, the rest of the theater is all nice recliners that also have a heating switch. One thing I really like about this theater is how much space there is between rows; even with the seats fully reclined, you don't have to squeeze by people if you need a restroom break in the middle of the movie. The sodas and slushies are self-serve and they also have five different types of powdered popcorn seasoning that you can apply. Surprisingly, though, they didn't have any butter dispensers - I suppose you could always ask for more from behind the counter, but I do like being able to control the amount that's put on. They have a pretty widespread concessions menu and they will bring out your hot food to you in your seat. Prices for concessions are average and tickets are reasonable - $9 for a matinee and $11 for night. The lobby area is notably nice - there is a self-playing piano, a fireplace, and a full bar area. It was also impeccably clean in the lobby and restroom. Employees were very friendly across the board. This is clearly a very well-maintained theater and I would definitely go back.

Unfortunately, it's fallen on some hard times over the years and has been open for events intermittently over the last few years. There is hope, however, for this beautiful old landmark to shine once again. There are plans for reinvestment into the Capitol Theatre, although over the years, there have been numerous stalled attempts at redevelopment and renewal. It's still gorgeous and the interior, while fading a little bit each passing year, still shows what this Art Deco era theatre was like back in its heyday. The Will Ferrell fllm, "Semi-Pro," was shot on location here about a decade ago. I have fond memories of going to a few concerts here before it closed when I was in high school. It was in a state of decline then, but it was still something to be seen. Shortly before it closed, there were attempts at improvements and renovations, and the Captiol Cafe (a cute little coffee shop) was open late nights upstairs, past the winding, spiral staircase. We used to hang out up there after shows on the weekend back when I was still in high school. Sadly missed. Any longtime Flint native should have some memories of the Captiol Theatre at some point.
