A Nightmare You Don't Want to Subject Your Beloved Pet To I've never been so furious in writing a review. If you love your cat, do not--DO NOT--bring them here. Our cat came back looking as though he'd been through a horror show, and we are livid. Bruises All Over from "Gentle Grooming" (we have pictures) Our cat was a long hair that we asked to have their fur taken down to that of a short hair cat. What was unforgivable were the purple, fingerprint-shaped bruises scattered across his body. When we first saw those marks, we were horrified and confused: bruises? How could regular grooming leave deep purple handprints on our pet? We immediately took him to the vet, who confirmed they were bruises--plain and simple. This was not a sleepy "heavier-handed" brushing; these were bruises from someone handling him roughly enough to leave real-live finger marks. Cuts, Cuts, and More Cuts If bruises weren't appalling enough, the groomer also managed to slice our cat multiple times with her clippers or scissors. These weren't tiny nicks; we could plainly see irritated, bleeding slashes in his skin where she obviously rushed or mishandled the tools. We've taken our cat to other groomers before--no one else in their right mind inflicts this kind of damage on a healthy, cooperative animal. Our Once-Happy Cat Was a Panicked, Hissing Mess Our normally sweet, affectionate cat came home terrified, his personality completely altered. He hissed at us--his own family--cowered in corners, and spent hours hiding under furniture, trembling. He refused to engage with any of his favorite toys or treats. He was in a full panic. Whatever "technique" this groomer used traumatized him beyond belief. Quite frankly, it felt like we picked up a stranger from the shop--an anxious, broken version of the cat we dropped off that morning. Pushing an Unreasonable Subscription Plan Instead of acknowledging their horrific performance, the groomer had the gall to pitch us a subscription plan--a monthly grooming plan--for an outrageous fee. They tried to convince us that our cat "needed" this routine maintenance. Are you kidding? After the physical and emotional trauma their so-called "service" inflicted, the last thing we want is to trust them near our cat again. This pushy upsell felt downright predatory: gouging a raw deal to "maintain" a pet they'd already harmed. Final Verdict: Avoid This Place at All Costs If you love your animal, do not, under any circumstances, take them here. I'm seething that we even gave them a chance. Every parent of a cat knows that trust and safety come first. This groomer not only violated that trust but injured our cat both physically and mentally. They clearly lack basic compassion, competence, or respect for the creatures they claim to care for. Save yourself--and your pet--from this horror. Take your cat to a groomer who actually cares about--and knows how to handle--animals safely. Our experience here was nothing short of negligence bordering on cruelty. We're deeply angry, heartbroken for our cat, and will never forgive the damage they inflicted.

Betty and Hermoine...Betty, is the best dog groomer and fabulous person. We adore her!

What keeps me coming back is the friendly customer service, careful handling and how thorough they are! My dog really loves the owners and the groomers. I book my dog's appointments online - they send out reminders and text notifications when grooming is almost complete. My dog always comes home adorable, soft, smelling good and they always send her off with a cute bandana. They take really great care of my dog!

Our last three visits have been frustrating, but this final experience was the breaking point. I brought my Border Collie in with very specific, detailed instructions for a "pet trim" to improve her comfort and hygiene: Detailed scissoring and blending on the legs to avoid blunt, choppy cuts. Thinning shears to reduce density on her tail while maintaining the "flag" look. A "tunnel belly" and sanitary trim for cooling. Instead of the skilled scissor work I requested, they took the absolute "easy way out." They finished her entire grooming in 30 minutes (it usually takes an hour), and when I picked her up, she had been shaved to a 1/8th inch "puppy cut" all over. For a double-coated breed, this is devastating to their ability to regulate temperature. When I called to address this, they claimed I asked for an "all-over trim." In what world does a request for a blended, functional trim result in a total shave-down? To make matters worse, the staff member hung up on me, saying they were "really busy" and offered zero accommodation or apology for ignoring my instructions. It is incredibly disappointing to see a business treat a long-time customer with such blatant disregard. They clearly prioritize speed and high turnover over actual grooming technique and customer service. We will not be returning.

Danielle is friendly and reliable and most of all - she does a great job. We always go with a short cut on our Maltese for ease of maintenance and Danielle's cuts are very consistent. Our dog always looks the same, which is a big positive in my book. Other groomers have delivered inconsistent looks when we simply wanted the same haircut. The convenience of the mobile service is hard to beat too. It's a little more expensive than service at a brick and mortar building, but it's worth it in my opinion. You won't regret going with this business for your furry friend's grooming needs. Highly recommended. ***In the post-grooming photo of my pup, he'd had a recent vet procedure that resulted in a stitch in his forehead and a partially shaved right leg. Most groomers do multiple dogs at once--and your dog sits in a cage in the meantime. Not great. Maria is working with just one dog --yours--from start to finish--so it's way less stress for your baby. I should also mention that Maria is the best, kindest, most competent dog groomer in the DMV. Full stop. If you have a small dog, don't even *think* about going anywhere else! Not only will your furbaby be gorgeously groomed, you will have the peace of mind of knowing he is being cared for by 1) someone who genuinely loves dogs, and 2) is also incredibly talented and experienced. I don't trust my little guy with anyone but Maria.

I was recommended Old Towne Pet Resort by a coworker, and I will now be recommending them too!…read more I called to make a 2-week dog boarding reservation 30-days in advance for the peak Christmas season, and they miraculously had availability at one of their three locations (Bethesda). The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and informative and made it easy. When it came time to drop my dog off the staff were so friendly and kind, and they were extremely attentive and took detailed notes of all the items I brought with my dog and any of her quirks (e.g., severe allergies, doesn't play well with others, etc.). The space was so clean and large. I felt very reassured dropping her off as I went on vacation. When I came back to get her, the staff was helpful and, again, extremely kind and talked about her time there with details that were definitely unique to my dog. She was happy, healthy, clean, and well groomed. All of her toys and leash items were accounted for and they even ran a toy out to my car that they had forgotten in her kennel. Bottom line: 5/5 do recommend!

Two years after boarding my dog at Olde Towne Pet Resort, I am still dealing with health issues…read morecaused during her stay. I am not one to complain, especially in a public forum, but the lack of care my animal received was egregious. During her stay, my dog experienced an ear infection so severe that she developed acute dermatitis from scratching. The sore or 'hot spot' on her cheek was unmissable when we picked her up, but The staff tried to pass it off as if everything was normal. The groomer who prepared her for pickup had the gall to pretend he didn't notice a massive weeping sore on her face. For her condition to have reached this point, she would have needed to scratch constantly for days and not be noticed by the staff that were supposed to be spending 'cuddle time' with her daily. As anyone who has ever had a pet with an ear infection can attest, the behavior is far from subtle. Any remotely observant and competent person would catch it. Worse, I reviewed the update photos that were sent throughout her stay, and red spot on her cheek is visible in every shot and getting progressively worse. This means that the staff overseeing playtime let an animal run around with blood on her face for days without investigating. This is utterly unacceptable. My dog also came home with constant bouts of diarrhea that we assumed this might have been a bug she picked up in boarding, but it turned out to be colitis. Our veterinarian confirmed that this was most likely stress-induced. It has made me wonder what trauma my dog experienced while being boarded that would cause her to develop a permanent bowel condition. Her colitis has caused her enormous suffering and I am still trying to manage the condition years later. As others have reported here, the staff did not feed my animal the way they were directed, and returned what was supposed to be an empty bag of dog food to us half-full. So to recap, they underfed my dog in addition to neglecting an ear infection and resultant severe, pus-weeping skin infection, then tried to pass my pet off to me as if nothing happened. Whatever they did or neglected to do for her led to a chronic bowel condition that has rendered her partially incontinent. I was appalled by the dishonesty I experienced from the staff, but decided at the time to let it go, and simply swore never to give Olde Towne my business again. I figured my dog would bounce back, but she didn't. Reflecting that she has never been the same and that she experienced pain and neglect at the hands of the people I entrusted her with, I feel the need to let other pet owners know what they might be in for if they board their animals here.
