I don't really care for tortas but like a sucker I still order them. I don't know what I expect them to be different. It's just one of those that the whole is less than the sum of the parts. I got the Real Madrid torta. Has egg, Milanese, carnitas chorizo, pretty much everything on the menu. At first I wasn't impressed. It's a bit of a salt bomb. Also wasn't impressed with the price. $14 seems steep for a torta and they didn't have prices On their menu. So I packed the rest up and went home. No joke this torta lasted me 4 meals. Incredible value when you take that into account. Again it fell short where most tortas do but I was satisfied. The bread was different than most tortas. It was more like an English muffin than bread of that makes sense at all. Gave more flavor but I'm not sure it was awesome for the texture. I'd get it again for four days worth of lunches. read more

So, I encountered this truck as Ely's Mexican right next to Baskin-Robbins, across the way from Shute-Park Rec Center in Hillsboro. I'm not sure if it's just one moving truck, or if they have a couple on the move. I've only eaten here once, and I can say that I will be returning soon. Hands down the best Al Pastor tacos I've had in the state of Oregon so far. I believe they take credit cards too, from what I gathered from the sign on the window, which is a bonus. This place is yummy but still a food truck. I found this meal on wheels at the big lots parking lot of TV hwy and 185th on the right side facing 185th. I usually get the carne Adams burrito with cheese, guacamole, and grilled jalepanos. For 6 bucks it should be more. I love hole in the wall places and considering this is a food truck, I'll take it. What you will find: -Corn tortillas (the ones that are nicely chewy to the tooth), -Lots of meat, -$1.00 tacos, -Authentic Mexican cuisine, -Fresh cilantro on everything, -Habenero salsa, -Mexican soda, -Limes to squirt on everything. So this actually a review of their food cart in the Big Lot's parking lot on the northwest corner of TV Hwy. and 185th Ave., but I imagine the Hillsboro cart offers similar fare. Anyway, if you love torta's or fresh taco's (the only items I've tried) you can't go wrong here. Every ingredient seems freshly picked, veggies one expects to be crisp are crisp, the corn/flour tacos seem handmade that day, meats are juicy, etcetera. The torta's are absolutely amazing and they have quite a variety to choose from (10+?). Torta's run $6 - $9 but you really get two meals worth (they cut them in half and do an excellent job of wrapping them. I'm 6'2' and 300 lb's and can't finish a whole one, despite how great they are. It's a no frills dining area, but the clientele is diverse and a great experience for diners who enjoy salt-of-the-earth people and their food. read more

I ate at Ely's over near sw 117th and canyon rd. I don't know if it's the same and he moved or if it's an alernate location. I ordered two carnitas gorditas and they were pretty tasty with a little of their avacado sauce. They were plenty of food together for me. The guy made sure to explain that their gorditas were not like taco bell gorditas(yay!) They are more like pita pockets made of corn tortilla stuffed with sour cream, meat, and lettuce. There is a truck on 117th and Canyon with this name. Maybe it's the same truck or they have more than one. It's there on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Well anyway... They have the largest, best burritos I have ever eaten. Sometimes you have to wait because of the late night Mexican dance club crowd but it's worth it. They also have a TV and will usually have Saved By The Bell or something good on they will let you watch while you wait. I can't stress this enough... Best burritos in town. If you have the burrito fever they can cure you. If you dont like the burritos here you're probably some kind of idiot. Savory and tender meats. And it's moist. Tasty stuff here folks.
