Nothing authentic about this food. Raw broccoli, carrots and cauliflower? Bland and boring. When I was asked why I didn't want the food to go I tried to be kind and just say no thank you but she said "you don't like the food?" Then proceeded to argue with me about the veggies and tell me how long she has been cooking there very rude and upset. And this AFTER I had to listen to her phone playing over the radio in the otherwise completely empty resturaunt during peak lunch hour. No traditional peapods, bean sprouts and flavor. My friends and I were in Sequim for a Girls Weekend and we happened across this gem of a restaurant. We were there for breakfast, but the owner/waitress/cook was also willing to make Asian food for a couple of us. The food was awesome - and the coffee, perfect! Not impressed at all honestly. Ely was very nice, but the overall experience was a waste of time and money and I won't be going back or recommending this place to anyone. My girlfriend and I got the beef pho, it's incredibly disappointing if you've ever had good pho before. The broth is practically black and incredibly salty with very little meat. The wait was also quite long, considering that we were the only group in there. It looks like Ely just runs the place without help, but after my experience, she definitely needs help. The music playing in the restaurant was good, but it also was getting drown out by Ely playing on her phone on a table in the back. My son ordered a cheese burger and some french fries which were quite good, but it's pretty hard to mess up that combination. I'd recommend going elsewhere. Showing up to this place hungry, will only leave you feeling like you wasted time and money for a lackluster food experience. read more

This is a great little cafe. We've been here twice, and both times received a good meal at a good price. The menu lists an eclectic mix of typical American diner dishes and Asian dishes. We've ordered a few American and Asian selections and all have been tasty. Breakfast is available throughout the day. This appears to be a family run restaurant, which means you'll receive personal service from the proprietor. Meals are individually prepared as they are ordered and, although you are alerted that your meal preparation will take time, our waits have not been long. This restaurant will never be mistaken for upscale dining, but you will receive a good tasting meal, freshly prepared, at a reasonable cost. We will definitely return on a regular basis. read more

My wife and I are visiting from Florida and decided to drop in here for breakfast one morning. We found this little out-of-the-way place quite surprising. A long time ago, all restaurants made their dishes from scratch. Nowadays, only the highest quality (and expensive) places can afford to make this claim. Small cafes use frozen and canned shortcuts. well, this place makes virtually everything from scratch. Who does this any more??!! I had biscuits and gravy and hash browns. Ely, a little Chinese lady, made the biscuits from scratch, the sausage gravy from scratch, and got a potato, peeled it, shredded it, and cooked it perfectly. Holy Mackerel! It was GREAT, probably the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. She has been in business over 20 years, and has a loyal following from locals who know how good the food is. It's sorta a one woman show, with Ely always the cook, and sometimes the waitress and busboy. But this is not fast food, so don't expect a blue plate special in 5 minutes. No canned gravy from Cisco and frozen hash browns here! And it sorta goes without saying that everything is super fresh, especially the vegetables. We will be here only one week, but you can be sure that we will eat here several times in the next few days. read more

I don't know how the rest of the food is, but the pho is not not not authentic. Or at least it wasn't when I went there. I had a chicken pho. The spices were off, noodles were cut short, it had carrots and cauliflower. If you want Vietnamese food, there's another place on 101 just as you get into Port Angeles. You know those dining experiences where you are so disappointed that you wish you had just eaten at home, and feel like you not only wasted your time, but also your money? This was one of those. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the people were so very nice that own this place. It's really unfortunate that the food didn't match their personalities. Sometimes you go into a small, slightly dingy, no frills, family owned places, and you get authentic yummy food. Not so much here. Husband got the Pho, which is his favorite dish. It was so salty and barely palatable, that he could barely eat it. Said it tasted like it was seasoned with Top Ramen seasoning packets. I got the Bun (rice noodle salad), and it was made with very fine rice noodles instead of the traditional thicker ones. Best I can say about it is that it was OK. But I could only end up eating about 5 bites. Daughter got the cheeseburger and loved it, so no complaints from her, except it gave her a bit of a stomach ache afterwards. If you're looking for a burger, you might do ok here. If you want Vietnamese, Port Angeles is probably a safer bet. read more

I wish we would have listened to the "long wait" reviews and warnings on the menu. We went here in a time crunch, which was completely our fault, and thankfully it was easy for us to work around it. When the food arrived, the sweet owner apologized for the wait and explained everything was fresh. The food is ABSOLUTELY worth the wait in my opinion. Between the three of us we had fries, soup, a breakfast item, a Chinese food dish, and an American lunch dish. We were all sharing. I highly recommend Ely's if you're in the area and don't minding enjoying someone else's company for a while, or even hanging out and reading a book to pass time while you wait for the food. The service here was great. Unfortunately the restaurant was so purfumey smelling it affected my allergies. The food took 45 minutes for a to go order, and I couldn't eat it when I got it home because it tasted like the perfume smell =(. Small portions with a huge amount of noodles to fill in. If you think the pho on the menu is the actual pho, think again. The noodle soup comes with extremely chewy beef which is mostly fat. You can see how fatty it is because when you take your first bite, your lips will be covered in fat. Their ingredients seem to be under average. read more

For what it is, I have no complaints. Don't expect fine dining. But do expect: friendly courteous service, fresh cooked ingredients, and a menu with very reasonable prices. On my first visit I tried the Moo Shu Pork. It was a bit unorthodox, not what I was used to getting at a typical Chinese restaurant. But it was fresh hot and yummy nonetheless. That coupled with the proximity and friendly service warrants another visit. I am looking forward to trying the Pho. read more

Ely's is a great value with very good food. We have had both take out and dine in and been very pleased. For lunch, the stir fry dishes are an extremely good value for about $6 for a good size portion with a lot of vegetables. The full take out portion for a dinner stir fry is enough for two people in many cases and is still priced extremely reasonably. There are also a lot of choices beyond the Asian dishes, and they serve breakfast all day. The interior atmosphere is nice, and the staff are very friendly. In the Sequim area, Ely's is definitely one of the best values for your money. read more
