It was pretty busy when we arrived around 10am, but we were in an out in less than an hour! They had Valentine's Day balloons everywhere which I personally loved seeing. They also offered a bunch of on theme items in the bakery. This Raley's location has a Starbucks inside which we visited and grabbed some pastries at to enjoy while walking around. They had a lot of marked down items which were budget friendly! The store was also clean and organized. My daughter and niece also found the hidden hedgehog during this visit and each got a lollipop as a prize. Do all Raley's locations do this? Staff at the checkout were very friendly! I'm sure we'll be back this weekend!

I just got a new large r crockpot from my mom to make these bigger recipes. Last week I made pork chops and that was a success. The butcher was a big help and pointed me right to the pork chops I was looking for. This week the main ingredient was chicken. I wish the chicken was on sale this week, but it wasn't so this was a splurge. I could have used the frozen breasts I had from the sale, but I wanted to cook it the same day and didn't want to have to wait till they defrosted. As it turns out I didn't have enough time the same day so I could have used the frozen breasts as there was plenty of time to defrost them. Who knew I'd run out of time. In this recipe it calls for ranch dressing dry mix. I'm kind of skeptical of the recipe as I've never used the dry mix before or put ranch dressing in any of my recipes. I only use it for my salads or dipping vegetables in. On the other hand I've used Italian dressing as a marinade and as a sauce for my pasta salads. This is going to be an experience. I hope all turns out as I'm making 3 lbs and would hate to have to eat something icky all week. Along with the ranch dressing dry mix goes a can of cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, a pack of cream cheese, the block kind, sour cream, and stem and pieces mushrooms. The recipe takes 5-6 hours to cook the onions and chicken separately. Then you take the chicken out and chop it up, before adding the sauce. And lastly right before serving it you add the sour cream. This recipe also calls for butter noodles. Those were also not on sale, but from my experience they are never on sale. We'll see how it goes. If it's a flop I'll be back at Raley's tomorrow for something else to eat. I'm thinking something quick like fried chicken or a frozen lasagna.

Safeway - Spotted a golf cart Safeway shopper leaving the lot on their cart to go home, haha

This looked like a newer Safeway, the lot's big and clean. It was a hot and sunny day and I used the building for shade which meant parking on the east side of the store. At first, I almost pulled into one of the golf cart spaces! What the heck?! I was kind of confused as there weren't any golf carts parked at the time, so I thought those were regular spots at first and started to pull in only to realize they're tiny spots so I backed up and then saw the golf cart signs. Never seen that. Apparently there's a golf course community right next door so to tap into that customer base, Safeway put in golf cart spots, smart move. Anyways, while the wife and daughter did the heavy lifting of shopping, me and the big boy were more window shopping. The store's big, but probably about the same size as our regular store near Sac City College. This one's got a bigger butcher dept though I feel. I'm always looking at the meats and seafood, but especially the meats, some good prices, and very fresh, too bad we didn't have our cooler with us so we didn't feel comfortable buying perishable meats as we were headed to several other places after this. I also checked out the snacks, cereal, and drinks aisles. All stocked nicely, lots of choices, I liked the sparking water they had on sale out front, decent deal. I spotted a golf cart on the way back to my car, funny to see folks cart over for grocery, reminds me of how it is in Rancho Murrieta too, not that I've been there much, but that town's supposed to be the same way, lots of golf carts. All in all, this is a nice new supermarket. We're regulars at Safeway, so this is a good option to shop at when we're in the area.

Adj: Nice and New, Shiny Supermarket…read more Brand New Safeway in West Roseville, it's actually about a year old now, but new to me. It's a really nice store! Bright, clean, open, spacious. The layout is similar to other Safeway stores I've been to, the front of the store has the floral department which had a myriad of flowers, plants, and bouquets to choose from. It was Valentine's and Chinese New Year season when I visited and the variety was extra abundant, I even saw Chinese lucky bamboo plants! I had to take pictures of all the flowers and potted plants, lol... The next section is produce and it's all quite fresh and buying sale items would be a good deal, otherwise, some of their produce can be pricey, but that's true at any grocery store these days. Moving onto the meat and seafood sections, I saw really fresh cuts of fish of all kinds, and the butcher counter was stocked well with all types of meats too. I needed some pantry stable cans and those are also fully stocked and nicely stacked and easy to find what I was looking for. Walking around to get a feel of the whole store, their dairy, bread, freezer, and deli were all very nicely organized and well stocked too. We also had to grab some pastries in their bakery and they had a pretty good variety left for a Sunday afternoon when many people usually grab donuts and other sweet goodies in the morning, leaving not much left after, but we found several kinds of croissants, muffins, turnovers, donuts, bagels, and rolls and grab 1-2 of each kind to fuel us for the week. As for service, checkout was quick as we just did self-checkout, but the staff supervising the SCO area was helpful and friendly. Overall, I'm glad we stopped by this Safeway as it's a nice and new one, and bright and shiny! There's a Starbucks in this one as per usual with all the new branches and this part is interesting, apparently there's a golf course community right next door b/c there's golf-cart parking on one side of the store, no wonder hubby was a little confused about those spots at first, lol... We'll definitely stop by here again for easy and excellent grocery shopping next time we're in Roseville.

I bought a vase of flowers for a special person's 80th birthday. Flowers are generally overpriced everywhere. I found a reasonably priced arrangement of flowers in a vase; beautiful and didn't break the bank. Jessica on the flower section helped he by boxing the vase for travel. It was nice to be able to pay in the florist area. She was friendly and helpful, thank you Jessica.

I come here for groceries sometimes when we're in the area to meet up with friends, to do some shopping, when we're driving north towards Reno/Tahoe and need to pick up some meals and snacks, or when there's a special even here for us to attend in Natomas. This is a newer Safeway in the Sac area even though it's definitely 10-15+ years old by now I think. It's been kept up and everything looks good and organized here. There's your usual layout w/produce on one side of the store and the deli and bakery on the other, then in the middle you have your pantry items and towards the back is the meat dept and pharmacy. There's cold cases of dairy and yogurt, freezer cases filled w/frozen entrees, ice cream, frozen veggies, etc. All quite convenient and then there's tons of delicious pastries in my favorite section of any grocery store, the bakery. They make pastries here as well as any specialty bakery, so I often get my apple turnovers, bear claws, fritters, and cherry Danishes, etc. here. I probably have no business eating too much pastries anyway, but they carry so many good tasting treats so I ask the wife to grab some "for the kids" when we're here. All in all, this store's got a lot of everything we need. Prices are typical for groceries, so the wife looks for the sale items. To be honest, I don't do too much of the procurement, that's the wife's specialty, but I do assist w/carrying and bagging and that frees me up to take pictures and look for items that I would like to try in the future. There's also a good sized gas station here w/discount prices and you just have to scan your membership card or punch in your number, but we don't usually get gas here, only if we're low and happen to need to fill up, Safeway gas is still pretty competitively priced compared to a regular gas station, but higher than Costco/Sam's Club gas. Pro-tip: park further to the sides rather than in the middle of the lot in front of the store and walk if you want to avoid being too dep into the parking lot and there are usually a few spots on the outer edges, but closer to the front of the store, I like to park on the west side of the store and walk in to avoid the busy traffic in the lot, some of the drivers do look like they'll just run you over, stay safe folks.
