Oh deer Oh deer. It didn't warrant A round of Santa-plause, Away from the puns, it seemed everything which went right last time I visited here seemed to go wrong, from the service, one staff member, in particular, seemed so disinterested, she became argumentative when I mentioned my Long Island Ice Tea didn't taste good, and she also didn't allow me to see a list of the spirits and I basically had to guess what I wanted to order. The fact they added a service charge onto the bill was the icing on the cake. Now I don't mind giving a well-deserved tip, but considering the service was poor and the fact it was added onto the bill was a nightmare, especially considering they refused to knock-off my beverage which I didn't drink. I really did hope my food would be better however it wasn't, my French Onion soup was hot (so hot I burned my mouth!), but that's the only positive thing I can say about it, the colour was awful, it looked like diarrhoea with floating bland onions. Considering how much I enjoyed the soup last time I came to this specific location it was a huge let-down. Hoping my main would be better, I opted for a Christmas Dinner with modifications to make it gluten-free, these modifications include removing the stuffing, bread sauce, pigs in blankets and adding bacon (while still not giving me more or anything else, and charging full price), it already felt like half a dinner. The food again didn't taste as good as it looked, infact it actually seemed to look better on my iPhone 12 Pro Max camera than it did in the flesh. The turkey was rather chewy, the sprouts were undercooked and the vegetables were bland, the gravy which is supposed to make a dish did nothing, considering this is quite a high-end place and it is affiliated with such a great TV personality and chef nonetheless, you expect better but what you get is rubbish. On my last visit, I was surprised to see such a low average rating and right now, I can truly tell why.

There are quite a few pubs in Liverpool named The Beehive but my favourite has to be this place…read moremainly because of its excellent location right at the heart of Liverpool and in close proximity to Liverpool One. This place is a typical old man's pub if you will and this is no bad thing as they no how to pour a good pint and provide a warm and relaxing atmosphere. At most times of day this place has a good crowd of drinkers inside all of whom seem to be friendly and welcoming. The staff are welcoming also and really make sure that you feel welcome as a valued customer. There is food available here and it is worth a try it is mainly home cooked dishes which really hit the spot when you are in need of a good eat. The prices are excellent for such a central pub and as such this place is a winner every time.

In fact, at this particular time, there is a large and colourful dragon painted on the windows, in anticipation of St George's Day. Even though, as a city, we tend to get more excited about Paddy's Day, it's nice to see that some establishments haven't forgotten what country they're in. Last time I was in here I was accompanied by Red Watch of the local Fire Station (don't ask) and we were all squashed into the area directly in front of the bar. As it was the week before Christmas, it was understandably busy, but thanks to the company I was keeping, I never had to battle over to the bar to get a round in. Nice chaps, firemen... Anyway, this is your typical pub that is full of all walks of life from Liverpool. Not quite at the same level as the karaoke pubs like Cooper's, it still retains all the character of an old man's pub. Patrons are friendly and chatty, and you don't feel guilty for listening in on a conversation and laughing along with a joke. There's a convenient smoker's area at the front, and as the pub isn't that large, people tend to spill out to the front if the weather is nice enough. Not a massive range of beers and ales, but enough to keep everyone happy.

I'd eaten a Christmas meal here and everything. I'm like that guy from that film about the amnesiac. I forget his name. The problem with the Cavern Quarter Revolution is that once the old vodka is sloshing around your brain you'll begin to store the memory of it as taking place in the Wood Street branch. They all look identical anyway. Actually the Crimbo meal here, safely tucked away in a private room upstairs away from the riff-raff, was a good-quality, low-cost affair that would probably make Santa grin if he existed.

We were taken upstairs to our own private room in the bar where we got a cocktail demo and each got to go behind the bar and make our own cocktails. The guy doing the demo made it fun and was happy to help us get all the techniques right (much harder than it looks!). We were a group of about ten and were 30 minutes late but he made sure he whizzed through it do we each got a go. The dinner afterwards was pretty average. We were seated on two very small tables between the 10 of us which made for quite a crowded table. I ordered the chicken starter (was ok, nothing special), rump steak and fries (again ok, but the steak could have been better quality - was quite chewy), and a chocolate brownie desert (a little dry, could have had more ice cream and less brownie to balance it out). Overall I'd give the cocktail session a 4 but the food a 2. It really wasn't memorable at all.
