Austin Central Library is nothing short of magnificent. The…read morearchitecture and interior design are modern with clean lines and elements that accentuate the library experience taking it to another level entirely. This is the type of structure and experience you'd expect in NYC, London, and the likes. Absolute perfection. I love the way the book sections and categories are divided and set up on various floors. Each floor is crazy spacious with loads of comfortable reading areas, tables, areas for rest, etc. There are private meeting rooms, a cafe, gift shop, an art gallery, rooftop deck with crazy good views of the city and Ladybird Lake, a children's library called 'Wonderland', an events center and so much more. The librarians and staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and not bothered if you need assistance locating a book. They have almost everything you could possibly be looking for to read whether for research or fun. Access to laptops and computers. Lots of charging areas for media and phones. The library is a true marvel. It makes me happy to see and know that ALL are welcome, especially the unhoused who would otherwise not have a place to go in extreme temps. The bathrooms and entire library are spotless and meticulously clean. We're so very lucky to have this amazing library in our city.

That remind her of Marybeth, the teacher who does story time at the library, and she said "I miss her" "I want to see her" I tried to explain to her that I was talking about our activity for next day, I remind her about the central library but nope She wanted to go to the Howson library in that moment and see Marybeth lol "I lover her" she said and started crying... I can normally snap her out of anything, I got toys out, played music, I was being really silly but the two year old in her wanted Marybeth.... Well, what do you do?! Check if the library is open, drive there and pray MB is there or wait another 20 minute and see if your kid forgets about it?! I choose my battles and I got my car keys and we drove there in our sleepers looking like a hot mess lol Marybeth was there, I told her about Brynn's moment and She was so sweet to her!! We picked few books and Brynn was so happy!!! On the way home she said "I cried for MB" "I love her" Today, a week later she remember the story and said "remember I cried" "I miss her" I knew what she meant lol She asked me to sing the little red wagon and you are my sunshine like Marybeth. Well, with all that said I want to say thank you so much Marybeth for your extraordinary work, your amazing energy and your enthusiasm when sharing your songs with the kids, and reading those awesome books everywhere week! You are in Brynn's heart and that is priceless! We are so grateful for YOU. I been working with kids for 20 years and I know when a caregiver works with passion and joy! You are a very important person in our community and we love you!!

Works by local artists adorn the walls. Beautiful murals inside and outside of the shop. A little library sits in the back with books for folks to peruse over a cup of tea, coffee, or a cocktail. Friends meet up to play board games, discuss the current climate of the country & world, and to just enjoy fellow humans and a great brew. Rad employees who treat customers as friends. It's like walking into a safe haven---for everyone. Cute front porch with limited seating and the tiniest dog park in Texas. The back patio is spacious and provides creek views. Sitting on the back patio surrounded by water, trees, and murals brings a sense of calmness and relaxation in an otherwise crazy world. Very thankful places like this exist.

The vibe of the place is cute, very gothic and quiet! I appreciated the fact it was a safe space for all genders/identities! The workers did vaguely make me feel uncomfortable and were dismissive. They took a while to actually ask me what I wanted even though I was the only person standing there, and were a bit snappy and judgmental. I got that "up down" look and some side eye between the two baristas....? I probably wouldn't come back here as my drink was also expensive and lackluster and the general experience made me feel kind of judged. I got the vibe I wasn't "cool" or "alt" looking enough to be treated with respect and given good service which is such a bummer bc it seemed like a cool place to just sit and hang out.
