I'm making sure to return things we've borrowed at least a day ahead of time to be sure that they are making it inside and being accounted for.

This is the type of structure and experience you'd expect in NYC, London, and the likes. Absolute perfection. I love the way the book sections and categories are divided and set up on various floors. Each floor is crazy spacious with loads of comfortable reading areas, tables, areas for rest, etc. There are private meeting rooms, a cafe, gift shop, an art gallery, rooftop deck with crazy good views of the city and Ladybird Lake, a children's library called 'Wonderland', an events center and so much more. The librarians and staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and not bothered if you need assistance locating a book. They have almost everything you could possibly be looking for to read whether for research or fun. Access to laptops and computers. Lots of charging areas for media and phones. The library is a true marvel. It makes me happy to see and know that ALL are welcome, especially the unhoused who would otherwise not have a place to go in extreme temps. The bathrooms and entire library are spotless and meticulously clean. We're so very lucky to have this amazing library in our city.

Lo and behold, I came back in 2025 and was pleased to see a completely new selection of books and tonssss of new arrivals of newly released books. Shoutout to the library staff! You can tell they're on top of it! Also, there are a lot of programs for adults with the maker labs and groups, and you can tell the staff really makes an effort here. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is, like any town with young families, there are a lot of little ones / screaming babies in the library. Many homeschooled groups meet here so it gets pretty noisy. I'm not sure if that's a solvable program or what, but it's definitely not quiet, even with headphones on, so be aware if you're there for some silent focused work. We were visiting with a large group and strolled around here for almost an hour. I loved the different sections and high ceilings. It appears the shop may have a few cats that roam around during the weekdays and am dying to come back to say hello! A great way to support local on your next drive between Austin and Houston, or simply if in the neighborhood! The entire strip is really cute with a variety of shops, art, food, and live music.

While the young female who assisted me was courteous enough, her female staffer seated next to her gave me the cold shoulder when I attempted to just share a memory of mine regarding bell bottom pants [ As she was wearing] she never replied to me, her lack of engagement was troubling as she gave me the impression that senior citizens are a 'problem' for her. Or that she's too good to briefly engage in a subtle manner with senior citizens.

This library is one of our weekly stops throughout summer. We we partake in their summer camp series for kids and live stocking up on new reads. She said she was allergic, so I left with my service animal. Shocked at the behavior of a person who doesn't understand service animals are not pets but a helpful guide dog with people with disabilities. At the time, there was a misunderstanding, and I was treated in a way that was difficult for me. While that experience stayed in my heart, I chose to move forward with forgiveness and understanding, knowing that sometimes people simply don't know what they don't know. Today, I returned to the library for the first time in several years, and I am truly grateful I did. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with genuine respect, kindness, and professionalism. It meant more to me than I can fully express, because it showed growth, compassion, and a willingness to learn from the past. I have always loved public libraries -- especially for discovering incredible books, vintage titles, and sources of profound information that you don't easily find elsewhere. I had no idea this library held such a beautiful and extensive collection, and it reminded me why reading and learning bring me so much joy. This experience healed something for me. I am thankful for the positive change, for the welcoming environment, and for a library that clearly cares about its community. I look forward to returning again and spending many more quiet hours surrounded by books.

Their return boxes are on the side where the street parking is. Just a few parking spots. Two very nice lady's were up at the front desk. I had asked about getting a membership, which was a quick form to fill out with basic information. And a drivers license. Within minutes I had my very own Bee Cave library card. Like I said, this is a small library, independent. But they do have a lot of wonderful books to check out for 3 weeks. And if you need to renew a book, it's another 3 weeks. They didn't have the books I was looking for today. But I can alway check back another day, or use the "Libby" app.
