This charming, lovely and well-run library is why I will keep going back with my daughter. So many reasons to love this library. First of all, location, right in the heart of the Bee Cave Galleria, offering such a perfect day: shopping, library story time for toddlers, lunch and ice cream afterwards. Movie theater nearby. Seriously, this is American heaven. Second, cleanliness. Yeah this is a thing for me. The children's area is always clean and kept so neat and tidy. It is small, but worth every book. The rest of the reasons why it is just plain awesome: Technology: you can log in and download books straight to your mobile device(s.) Free wi-fi, computer access, foreign language audio books, learning Apps, the list goes on. Toddler story time - this story time is so well-run, complete with city employee visitors (Police and Fireman) and tours of police cars and the like. Props and letter learning: it is almost like an hour of free pre-school. Wait: it IS an hour of free pre-school. Children's Books and read along DVDs. These are fantastic. While I consider myself to be quite animated during story time with my toddler, having a little help is always a bonus. The selection of books are wonderful: an eclectic mix that adds some diversity to your reading repertoire and can keep you away from the mundane. Look, any library is great. There are better ones than just great. Any place you can go to and check out books to read for free (yes, taxes, blah blah, you get what I mean) is a GIFT. In fact, all libraries are a gift. We are on the 'read 1000 books before kindergarten' path and we will easily be able to do it here and never, ever get bored. Happy reading!

A full house for the Bee Cave Bee cave unveiling.

It's not the Library of Congress, but serving the Bee Cave area, it doesn't need to be. Friendly folks, a great kid's story time program, decent selection, and great location for me makes this an easy library choice.

I still have my first library card.

Austin Central Library is nothing short of magnificent. The…read morearchitecture and interior design are modern with clean lines and elements that accentuate the library experience taking it to another level entirely. This is the type of structure and experience you'd expect in NYC, London, and the likes. Absolute perfection. I love the way the book sections and categories are divided and set up on various floors. Each floor is crazy spacious with loads of comfortable reading areas, tables, areas for rest, etc. There are private meeting rooms, a cafe, gift shop, an art gallery, rooftop deck with crazy good views of the city and Ladybird Lake, a children's library called 'Wonderland', an events center and so much more. The librarians and staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and not bothered if you need assistance locating a book. They have almost everything you could possibly be looking for to read whether for research or fun. Access to laptops and computers. Lots of charging areas for media and phones. The library is a true marvel. It makes me happy to see and know that ALL are welcome, especially the unhoused who would otherwise not have a place to go in extreme temps. The bathrooms and entire library are spotless and meticulously clean. We're so very lucky to have this amazing library in our city.
