Amazing course performance went well we can say... long pars liked the hallway fairways good course

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Elmwood Golf Course. The staff were disrespectful and unprofessional, particularly in the way they treated young adults. Regardless of someone's age, every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, the attitude of the workers completely ruined my experience. I expected a welcoming and professional environment, but instead left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Elmwood Golf Course and would not recommend it to others. read more

The workers are incredibly disrespectful. Me and my 2 buddies went over to ride 18. We are all over 16 and able to drive. We were told we cannot ride because only 2 of us had a license on us at the time. The manager threw my buddies id at him and told us that we had to walk. The older man running the counter was very nice but the middle age gentleman was very rude to all of us. Will never be coming back. read more

Always nice to get in a round here, one of my favorite public courses in Omaha. Gorgeous course that can test your skill with its narrow fairways, greens can be tricky as well! read more

I think Elmwood is one of the better city courses in Omaha. The course is pretty tight, but I found it to be very well maintained - the greens are fast and tee boxes and fairways - free of damage and patches of dead grass. Elmwood also offers up a pretty scenic setting. While in the heart of the city, you are surrounded by nature with the occasional pop of a university building or older home. The cart paths were a little rough in some areas, but all-in-all one of the better courses in Omaha! read more

One of the most unfriendly staff experiences I've ever had on a golf course. The older guy checking in tee times needs an attitude adjustment big time. Snotty and rude to us at check in and it continued while making the announcement that we were up to tee off. Calling us out, elling us to hit because the group in front has reached the green (we know how to play the game and when we should hold off as to not hit into any player). Packed their schedule so tight on a Saturday that everyone is playing on top of each other, must need a bigger budget! Concession stand lady was also in a terrible mood. You would've thought I asked for a well done ribeye the way she was barking, god awful tone and just not a happy person. Cheer up! Overall, spend your $ someplace else there are plenty nicer courses in Omaha that treat customers in a positive manner. read more

Mean people and bad service lie about youth on course. Clearly don't take youth golfers seriously.

Lazy! Fun course, great layout. But, it's the middle of April and they haven't done a damn thing on the course. The greens were horrible. Yes I know it's early in the seasaon but if you're charging full price, at least cut the greens before a big, fully scheduled, Saturday! And really, you can't even change the tee markers??! Yes, it's a short course but it's so unfair to woman and seniors just because the staff is too lazy to separate the tees. 80% we're just combined making it the same distance no matter who your were. Sorry, I love the course and the people are nice, but that's just lazy in my opinion! read more

Although in the long run, I'd like to see this course give way to more park space and UNO expansion, Elmwood is a great 18 hole course in the middle of the city. And even though I don't golf very often, this is one of the better muni courses in town, imo. It's well kept and often busy. I'd say it's moderately challenging for the average player (or very challenging for me, because I suck). Carts are available as is beer in the small club house. Also a popular spot for weekly leagues, as a few of my friends can attest. Can't ask for much more. read more

Elmwood is my other favorite local course. The fact that it's close to my house and I grew up going to Elmwood Park also plays a significant factor as well. It's a challenging course for that reason as well... there are LOTS of trees around here, lots of big, old, large trees. (Even after the windstorm last year.) Also, lots of hills. I always feel like I get a pretty good workout walking Elmwood, even for 9 holes. Which, it's worth mentioning, isn't recommended on a very hot day. Because, when you finish up 9, you still have to walk all the way back uphill to the clubhouse. We always say 'next time we'll have someone park down here who can drive us back' and always forget... Just something to keep in mind. :) read more

Friday, 9:30am, first one to the course and it's 35 degrees, sunny, no wind. I watch the old guy inside get up and run to hide with the door locked so he didn't have to work. Cool. read more

Absolutely the worst experience with Terry Heskett. Kicked off the course for skipping one hole. Bus driver with a power trip. Don't play here. read more

Some friends got married at the Elmwood Grotto this weekend. It was a beautiful ceremony, held in a secluded terrace with lots of shade and a babbling series of fountains. I officiated their wedding and can attest that it was a fantastic setting for acoustics, comfort, and aesthetics. They had upwards of 200 people seated and there was enough space for about a dozen bridal party members to set up. DJ set up next to the tunnel and the handheld mic was necessary for this space. Although the sun was bright, there was shade and fountains. Plus, the grotto is surrounded by flowering shrubs, which attract shimmering white butterflies. Beautiful touch for a wedding ceremony. I heard that it was easy to reserve the space and I know that you can reserve a nearby building with indoor tables for the family and party to relax at pre-ceremony. Its simple, yet charming, and provides a great space for a large, laid-back wedding ceremony. read more

This is a city-owned course but that's no excuse for poor maintenance! Overall, it's a pretty short course with awkward routing. There are plenty of opportunities for birdies, which makes for a fun round of skins because there's always an opportunity to make up for bad shots. It's so short that I drove over the green on more than one of the par 4's. I'll take a long par 3 over a short par 4 any day, but that's just me. The rough here is so embarassing that I simply will not return this year. It's about 25% grass and that is a generous estimate. The rough is completely littered with prostrate spurge, which is inexcusable for any golf course and the groundskeeper ought to be ashamed of himself for letting it get this out of control. Finding your ball in this matted mess is near impossible, and it's growing so wild that it comes within two yards of the fairway. The cart paths are the roughest/bumpiest I have ever seen! For a minute there I thought I was on the Texas Giant wooden roller coaster at Six Flags, and I am talking about before they put in the steel track. I don't know how old people can drive through that without hurting themselves. I had a back ache from it and I am in my twenties! They've got a lot of work to do at Elmwood, I wouldn't dare play here regularly. read more

I've played this course twice and really enjoyed it both times. The staff takes care of the course and they pace groups properly at the first tee. It's a hilly, public park course similar to Swope in KC. read more

Elmwood is my home course and is the only centrally located 18-hole course in Omaha which makes for convenient access. Being a short course (just over 5,000 yards) at par 68 also makes it more affordable than our other municipal courses as well as faster to play. On average two people can play in either a cart or on foot in under 3 hours at those times when it's not busy. On those days I am also able to walk all 18 alone in about 2 hours and 15 minutes and avoid having to dedicate 4-5 hours to a round golf. You'd better be in some sort of decent shape if you chose the walking option due to its hilly topography. The course is nestled in the heart of Elmwood park directly to the south of UNO. It celebrated its centennial as Omaha's oldest public course in 2016, and given its rich history hopefully it won't have to give way to more park space or UNO expansion anytime in the near or distant future as Will S. indicated. What sets this course apart from other municipal courses in Omaha is precisely the fact that it isn't lined with houses or apartment complexes but rather is embedded in one of Omaha's most well-known and aesthetically pleasing parks which lends to a unique environment that can't be matched. It also has some really scenic views in addition to wildlife (e.g., ducks, geese, owls, hawks, foxes, joggers, cyclists). What the course lacks in length it makes up for with an abundance of trees and topographical changes with several raised greens (9 of 18 holes) and constantly changing slopes. As a result your average recreational golfer will struggle to shoot bogey golf (86 strokes), so it still provides plenty of challenge. Lower handicappers might find its lack of length and absence of par-5s a negative point. Only four holes do not have bunkers and out-of-bound is often a factor. If you don't hit it straight you will be sure to find trees and subsequently watch your score go up quickly. Many of the greens have enough slope to make putting yet another challenge for most rec golfers, although they don't run as fast as Goodman or Benson. Finally, the staff is accommodating and do what they can to get single walk-ons out quickly. read more

Elmwood is my home course and and has been ever since the closure of Fontenelle Park GC. It's a good difficulty level for most average golfers... Not wickedly long, but there are a lot of mature trees as well as bunkers and hazards, so you've got to be accurate or you'll pay the price. Cost is average for what you get and the course is usually in pretty good shape. If they could lengthen a couple of par 4s into 5s to make a standard par 70-72 course (currently 68) that would make it a 5-star. read more
