Stopped in for the first time for a late lunch. Got a delicious pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw. Fast casual style dining- you put the sauce on at your own discretion, 3 types to choose from. I liked the sweet and mix style best. Food tastes great! Will definitely be back. Very nice owner- took the time to talk with us and answer all of our questions about the place read more

Best BBQ in Tulsa. Love the chopped beef sandwich, ribs, and turkey. It is a must every time I am in Tulsa. The staff is wonderful - some of the nicest people ever. read more

A Tulsa staple! Got the chopped beef - fantastic! The sweet BBQ sauce has some kind of special ingredient - its sweet and lovely! And the potato salad was creamy with a great tang! read more

Saw this on best Bar B Que places in Tulsa and decided to try it. Did not disappoint. Generous portions and very good food. We will definitely be back. read more

I've been coming here since I was a toddler; I say, with pleasure, this is my favorite bbq in the world. Their mild sauce cannot be beaten. I always get the double meat plate(half pulled pork, half bologna) and their Bologna is to die for. The baked beans are great. But it's the potato salad that makes it hard to eat any other potato salad. It's honestly paradise in your mouth-and it's atypical in the sense that it's mashed. I love it here, to say the least read more

After going to Elmer's and not liking it very well, all I have to say is Knotty Pine, please get open so I can enjoy better barbecue.

Call first before you order in the evening. They will take your order online, charge your CC and follow up with a call saying they closed early. Your order total will then be refunded in 3-5 business days. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place.. I LOVED THEM SO MUCH I had them cater my wedding reception. I have ro eat her at least 8times a year. I can never gwt enough. If you are looking for tender full of flavor Bbq, with awesome customer service, then come here. I swear you wont be disappointed! read more

Being from South Texas where BBQ is King (at least in our opinion) we decided to stop in and check out Elmer's, and are we glad we did. Certainly the style is a little different, but the time and effort is evident in the flavor.of everything. Ribs are not as moist as I like but still falls off the bone mostly. My favorite was a tie between the hot links and the chopped briskest. The sauce is also very good but slightly on the sweeter side. The beans are very good as well. The owner was our server and was very gracious and helpful. I would strongly recommend this BBQ if you are ever in the area. read more

I bought the ultimate feast for my husband's birthday. I called to see how much meat was in the special. Was lead to believe it was enough to feed x number of people. Sadly, when I picked it up, it was a small amount. $80 for 3 pounds of meat? I don't think so! I called the store, they couldn't even say "sorry about the misunderstanding." Oh no, they made it like I was just picky and that's how they always do business. I am easy to please, i just expect what i pay for, that's all. Had to fight to get a refund, thankfully my bank was willing to do something about it because Elmer's wouldn't make it right. I had to rush to Reasor's at the last minute to buy more meat to replace what they didn't provide - spent another $40! Flavor was mediocre... not really "amazing", but not horrible either. Sides were very small. The experience was similar to going to Red Lobster, paying high price for a crab sandwich, and getting a deep fried imitation crab blob on a school cafeteria quality white bun. Nope. I really have no clue how in the world Elmer's became "world famous". I can't see anything that special about what they have to merit that sort of recognition. I will never go back there, nor ever recommend it to anyone. This was my first experience at Elmers. It will most definitely be my last! read more

Best BBQ in Tulsa! The chopped beef and hot links are a must! To quote Elmer's...it be bad! (In a good way, of course)

I have grown up on Elmer's BBQ. The chopped beef is amazing & their potato salad and baked beans are my favorite.

Great place to get BBQ. The ribs are awesome and you will love the BADwich!

Been here plenty of times. Have to write them down now. Portions are very, very small. Price is ok if you just get a sandwich. But high if you get any of their dinners or plates. Beans used to be something special but now..........meh. They used to add some meat/beef to them and doctor them up. This time, I might as well have been eating Bush's baked beans. Nothing special any longer. Service was great. Friendly. But food has gone WAY down hill from before. Had a pulled pork sandwich. If not for the sauce would have been one of most bland sandwiches I have ever had for BBQ. I will give them another chance but this time was really, really disappointing! read more

Nice place. Delta Blues decor is cool. Service was great. Food was ok. For the price, there was a decent amount of mixed meats to try. That's about it. read more

BBQ tastes are really so relative, as we all know, so of course my love for Elmer's might not translate to everyone. That being said, Elmer's is really some of the best BBQ around. I've had a lot of BBQ of all kinds, and I always forget how good Elmer's is until I get back around to their sauces, hot links, and baked beans (among other things). It's just so good and the prices are really reasonable. And the service is awesome. It's a place where we just feel good eating as a family. I wish everyone could try it. :) read more

It was OK....you must like sweet sauce and sides. Ribs were a little tuff and still had the membrane. Brisket was good. Sides were OK. Sorry, very nice people serving you. read more

Being from Texas I am kind of picky on BBQ. This place wasn't bad at all, just a bit bland compared to what I'm used to. It's nice that they give you options of sauces but I prefer it to already be soaked into the sauce. The ribs were on the dry side, and the brisket was okay. The bologna was interesting as well. The pork and spicy sausage were the best I'd say. And the spin on potato salad using mashed potatoes was interesting (the dill taste was a bit strong for my preference). I loved the coleslaw, and I usually don't. Good place, just not the best BBQ I have ever had. read more

I used to go here a at least once a week when Mr Elmer was still around. It is great to see his family still keeping the tradition. The food is still great and you need to get there early but it is certainly worth it. read more

Great staff, great music. Solid BBQ. I heard many recommendations on Elmer's and I can say its a pretty good place. Ribs are really tender definitely try them. Sauces are a bit sweet for me but that seems to b the norm for this region read more

Great mom & pop. Very friendly faces and BBQ is delicious! Pulled pork was my favorite. Recommend the plate for 2.

I have to say I used to be a fan. I used to go there with my grandma, and I have to say they had great barbecue, but when I went recently they seemed to have taken a plunge downhill. I had the pulled pork sandwich, with came out under the temperature I would like and the bun was cold. I got the baked beans for one of my sides, and they tasted like they had been drenched in honey. You could say my disappointment comes from going to Texas barbecue, and seeing the difference, but I can say Elmer's is not what it used to be. read more

I have passed by this place so many times and didn't give it a chance but much to my surprise... tried it and it's fantastic! Decently priced aswell. read more

I can not even drive by this place without grabbing a bite. Best BBQ in Tulsa. Not the best for large groups, but the food is quality, homemade BBQ. If you're into BBQ snack wrap from McDonald's, this isn't for you. read more

My wife insisted we try this place after hearing a good review from a coworker. Big mistake. I'm not sure what was worse, the service or the food. I ordered a rib plate with coleslaw but was brought potato salad instead. My wife ordered the pulled pork dinner with chips and she was served beef with potato salad. Guess they were trying to get rid of the potato salad. The ribs were a big disappointment. Really tough and leathery and not at all what I was led to expect. They had 3 different colored squeeze bottles of sauce on the table and they all tasted like vinegar with varying degrees of hot sauce mixed in. The pulled pork or beef or whatever it was they served my wife was so dry and tasteless it was almost inedible. And this little mistake cost me over $30.00. I think we will stick with Famous Daves!!! read more

I was in town on business and happened across this place. I had the pulled pork and a home made piece of pound cake. Great BBQ!! I will be back read more

I have been away from Tulsa since 2006 and returned this week to one of my old favorite bbq spots. I had read somewhere that Elmer's had gone downhill...not so! I ordered Elmer's Badwich, which used to be my favorite. I chose the Texas toast option, with baked beans, and corn on the cob. The order came with two nicely smoked pork ribs, bologna, chopped brisket, and hot link...all were really tasty. The three sauce choices were excellent but my favorite was the hot sauce on the hot link! Yum! I was here at 4:00 on a Tuesday afternoon, so I pretty much had the place to myself. I loved sitting there eating some really good BBQ and listening to B.B. King and other Blues music. The lady waiting on me was such a sweetheart and Keith, the owner was a great guy! I've got to make this place a frequent stop when I get back in town. Loved it! If you are in the Tulsa area and hungry, give Elmer's a try! read more

Gross thats all I have to say. The sauce tasted like cloves and syrup and the sausage was horrible. Potato salad tasted like mayo! I will give an extra star because the cole slaw was good. I ordered from them through 742 dine and I am waiting to hear back on if I will get my money back or not. I did tell them that they can come and get the rest of the food that was left and believe me it was plenty! I think I had about 5 bites before I realized it wasn't going to get any better. Disappointed and I went by the ratings and reviews on here. They must be friends and family of the owner. I will come back within a few days to report how it turned out. read more

We took my father-in-law here for a celebration and it was a hit! Everyone at the table kept commenting on how delicious and tender the meat was! The sides were fabulous and the atmosphere is laid back with lots of history on the walls! All the workers were very friendly as well! Definitely best BBQ in Tulsa! read more

Visited today with my husband - truthfully, I felt robbed when we received the check! First of all, there were no seats - but one - right by the door (remember it is 30 degrees). I didn't understand why the additional part of the restaurant was closed. More importantly, let's talk about the food! I had the rib dinner (4 ribs/2 sides). The sides were tiny - and the beans tasted just like Campbells. I was too scared to even try the "potato salad". It looked like mashed potatoes - very uninviting. The ribs were big - but that didn't matter because they were dry on both ends, which left very little tender meat to enjoy. My husband had the bologna and the chopped beef. He said the bologna was good, but he followed that up with the fact that his bologna is "good" - he came here to have "great" smoked bologna. The chopped beef, he said, was only chewable after he loaded it up with sauce. We waited a long time to receive our check, and in the end I felt that the meal ($25+ for the two of us) was overpriced, and definitely not worth it. We won't be back. Just wondering when Tulsa will actually get a really great bbq place - it is long overdue. read more

We had a living social coupon and were treated VERY badly with portions and meat. All we got was fat and gristle, no meat to speak of. I saw other diners having ok portion sizes. Retailers are quick to take that living social money upfront and then resent the diner when they do show up to use it. I will never go back. read more

I drove all the way across town to eat here. Disappointed. Paid way to much for a little beef and what was supposed to have been texas toast but was regular toast. I was sitting at the counter when a ac guy was trying to collect an old bill. Not worth the drive. There is other BBQ places just down the street that is cheaper and better food. read more

Not the kind of bbq I'm used to. Mediocre at best. Ribs were too tough to chew. Way over priced.

Great BBQ! Badwich is the best thing to get. Lots of food and great sides as well.

I don't know where some of these other people went to but the Elmers bbq I had was nowhere near the quality I had. The ribs are about as tender as dried leather. read more

It's just too expensive for what you get. There are better alternatives for sure in a town with great barbecue options. Sorry Elmer's...please note that there is in fact competition and there's nothing exceedingly special about your food at this point. JD read more

Love the barbecue sauce...I am just sure it has cloves flavoring it and maybe a hint of cinnamon?? I felt that the tables are wobbly (we tried several) and have a greasy feel to them even though we got there when the doors opened so were the first one of the day to sit at that particular table....and the floor seems to need a good sweeping, but the food, itself, is good. read more

Just stopped in with a whole soccer team from San Diego and this was the first BBQ most of the boys have ever had. Can't say enough about Keith and his staff. Really good BBQ at a fair price. The kids wolfed everything down and we're ready for more. Awesome blues decor in a family owed place. Just go and enjoy real food served by friendly people. We will be back before we leave! read more

During a weekend in Tulsa my boyfriend wanted to find some good barbecue so we turned to yelp to make our decision. Our choice was Elmers, ranked at number 3 and seemingly easy to find in a city we're unfamiliar with. The exterior does not exactly beckon to you, but the smell once you're outside of your vehicle does. The interior is extremely old fashioned and outdated, but extremely clean. After we were promptly greeted and seated, we decided on plate for two that included beef, ribs, hot links, sausage, and Bologna plus two sides of baked beans and green beans. The wait for our food was fairly short, despite the full restaurant, and once it arrived it did not disappoint. You add your own sauce from a choice of three: sweet, spicy, and mixed. I enjoyed all three, especially the mixed. The beef was amazing but the real winner was the ribs. Yes they were fall of the bone delicious, but the real kicker was the serving size that is given on a $32 platter for two. That alone made the price worth it. The cherry on top? The extremely nice, hard-working waitress named Toni. The restaurant was full and she was the lone waitress and really jack of all trades, but no one in the joint had to wait for a single thing, from a refill to the check. I've had barbecue in Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, etc. (felt some background was needed), and Elmers in Tulsa is for sure worth the stop. Only downside? I wasn't exactly comfortable in the neighborhood, although once you turn the corner the entire neighborhood changes (whole foods, gated communities), so really it might just be a hard time on one block. read more
