Currently our power is out and our generator died on saturday. Called monday morning and the lady yelled at me that they don't know when they can get to me and it's not their fault the generator isn't working. They only service them and I can't expect it to run during an outage of a few days. What is the point then, since that is when I need it most. They then told me they had 150 down generators ahead of me to look at. Why would 150 generators be dead if they were selling and services a good product?

Duane and what I think is his son came out the next morning for me on very short notice. The service was efficient and professional ,however, as with all electricians was pricey. Service call was 65, and as a journeyman its 76/hr plus the apprentice is like 50 something, so figure about 130/hr with both of them there. If you have to call an electrician, these two guys are where it's at. Also, no credit cards accepted, cash or check only. I didn't know that before hand but Duane let me drop it off later that day to his shop in Crown Point.

They came out for an estimate and explained exactly what needed to be done and how they would do it. The price was fair and they provided the service the same day. After the service was installed, they verified everything electronically to make sure all was up and running. It was! Before they even started, I explained that safety was my biggest concern about electricity. Their explanation and verification was very reassuring. Also, they made sure that I could call them with any other questions I might have. I like that Red Tail has an amazing and informative website. Even more, I like that this company is individually owned not just a satellite of some big impersonal entity. You could tell the difference with the cordial, conscientious and professional service provided by Caius and Bryan. I will refer them to my family and friends. I plan to use them for any servicing of my Generac generator as well. And I will call upon them for any future electrician services.

By the ongoing conversation between me and my husband, after the power outage and restoration took out our emergency generator and several speciality light switches, one of the gentlemen suggested we might be in need of an electrician. I thought he was a Home Depot employee but it turns out he was an electrician apprentice owner working with a licensed, bonded, and insured electrician owner. They came to our home the following day, assessed the damage, gave us an estimate for repairs (the actual bill was, in fact, less than the estimate) and returned in 2 days to fix the problem. They arrived when scheduled, did a good job, and cleaned up the work area when done. Highly recommend Red Tail Trades!

Got a quick text back with basic price and said he would come out to provide a complete quote. Scheduled the appointment, Nick came out and told me the price while on site and took my info to send me the actual quote. A few days went by and I did not receive anything. I contacted him to see if it was sent and he said he would try again and asked me to verify my information which I did. Another day passes and still no quote. I reached out one last time and he said that's odd and he'd try again and if not he'll send it via text. It's been over 2 weeks since last reached out and never heard from them again. Not sure why he would waste my time or his, since he obviously does not want the business. Can't comment on the quality of work but I can say that based on this interaction and how unreliable they are with just trying to obtain a quote I would not feel great about hiring them.
