A pleasant and unexpected surprise... I was wandering in the area with an acquaintance and I was in a hurry to get done with dinner as I was supposed to get to another commitment shortly afterwards. This place, with an unprepossessing entrance and a blandish name, sure packs a feisty punch in its menu. A thoroughly British fare but with an original twist - everything is served tapas style so small, shareable portions ideal for trawling through an interesting looking menu. The menu at this establishment changes daily, so I'm going to struggle to come up with the full list of items we had consumed but we certainly had excellent bread (two baskets of it, even!), crab on toast (fresh, flavourful!), scallops with an Asian dressing (something that would be easy to screw up, but they didn't), an incredible baby asparagus dish, a brilliant artichoke and carrot dish with some awesome citrusy sauce, some red meat dish (the details of which I am struggling to remember)...but all in all, what a delight! Dessert was amazing - I had a salted caramel cheesecake and my friend had an elderflower icecream like thing? Fascinating place, I need to go back and have a more leisurely meal here.. read more
