My wife and I had to go to the Elkton, MD post office for our passport applications and photos. It seemed like that is all the clerks were handling that day. Their camera was not working but the clerk apologetically explained what we could do by going to one of two places close by to have our photos taken. The clerk also stated that we had time and would hold our appointment time for us. We came back and had a different clerk handled our applications. The clerk spotted an issue with one of the applications and explained that it may get flagged in the process. The clerk explained what may happen in that process and what steps would be possibly necessary to take to complete the process. While many folks are quick to place the problem on the person not responsible for the issue or problem, we felt quite satisfied and thankful for their help. They are just doing their jobs, and it was obvious they care. If they did not care, I don't think the clerks would have gone to any length to explain what could help our situation. The Elkton Post Office is totally terrible. I had a package containing medical equipment that was out for delivery all day long. They kept slipping the delivery time until I finally received a final message stating that my package was stuffed in a parcel locker - whatever that is. I expected it to be delivered to my home since I paid the postage for such service. They are lazy and do not do their job they are getting paid to do. read more

Absolutely incompetent!!! I had an envelope mailed to my post office box that had 2 stickers on the front that said "Do Not Bend" and what do they do? They purposely curled up said envelope and shoved it into my PO Box! Attached is a picture of the envelope and how clearly it was marked! After several tries to get a package that was delivered Friday to our post box (unable to open lock) at our development, I was not successful. A call to the post office on Monday got a promise to tell postman. On Tuesday, mail delivered, box still unable to be opened. A note to the mailman in our mailbox on Wednesday morning was ignored. A call to the Elkton Post Office on Wednesday afternoon was answered by Lisa. She was cordial and seemed to want to help me. This was the first pleasant person I've ever dealt with at this facility. Within a few hours she got that package delivered to my home. That is great service. Added plus, she was nice. Thanks, Lisa! read more

Walked in today around 10:30ish 11/2/2022 and the two women working the front didn't seem to like their job. The skinny old blonde was rolling her eyes at her costumer. When it was my turn the dark hair lady brushed me off and acted as if it was a problem answering my question. They need to hire ppl that are more out going and like their jobs. read more

Had 2 packages with tracking that said they were out for delivery, but the postman refuse to deliver packages to the door because it's an upstairs apt. Received a slip that one package was available for pickup that day. Went to pick up the packages- and only received one. Called the next day to ask about the other package and someone found it, I went to pick it up and it was not locatable. Called from the car and someone found it hidden behind other boxes. Meanwhile, two packages from DHL were delivered to the post office earlier that morning. There are no delivery slips or attempts to deliver and they said they didn't have other packages when I was asking about the original missing box. Anyone else have issues that seem like the staff in the back is misappropriating mail? read more

First of, I've had issues with them for the past few weeks. Everytime I get a package, it was always sent back to the sender because of "addressee unknown" when my address is legitimate and part of their district area. However, it was rerouted back to them and it eventually arrives, but a week late per estimated arrival. This happened twice. Filed a complaint and that somehow got "fixed". Today, I tried to mail a small book. Asking for media mail route and the post office rep dismissed it and made it to standard shipping. I told her no it should be media mail. She would not give an explanation and was very rude. I did not want to drive another 6 miles just to go to the next post office because I was in a hurry. After the transaction was complete, she just waved me off. I was so upset because she didn't listen to me. On top of that, I paid extra 5 bucks just to mail a small book. Totally unprofessional, will not come back here again. Will go to Bear location as they are more friendly and provides better service. read more

I ordered an item and it went through this post office. It was expected to be received that day, but it says "addressee was unknown". Therefore, it was sent back to the seller. Called the seller of the item and the person says the address was right. After a few days, i received the package and the address was right. I ordered another item a week later, and again, it went through this post office. Again, the item was sent back to the seller because of "addressee is unknown". Tried to speak with the post office manager, but phone just kept ringing and ringing. My area in part of this post office, but my packages ends up just being sent back. read more

The truth... This post office is very slow about unpacking packages and delivering mail. They don't work fast when waiting in line for stamps either. For workers that make that kind of money, I would think they would be happy to work. They really need to get better organized and deliver and pick up Mail on time. I had an fragile item throw out of the mail truck ,it then hit my back door. I know this happened because I saw it myself. My driveway is nearly 400 feet long and the package before it was left in the middle of the driveway. I will now request all items ordered to be delivered using another source . The postal delivery person doesn't deliver packages and falsely enters information that they attempted to deliver. I was home waiting for the package, kept hitting refresh online, when it showed this status: **Notice Left (No Secure Location Available)** I checked my door and my mailbox. NO PACKAGE, NO NOTICE. Disgusting with is post office. So our mail box rusted and fell over about 3 months ago til this day we still don't have a mail box. Every Saturday I must go to the post office to pick up my mail. I go there today and am given someone else's mail as usual. I ask for my mail and they tell me I don't have and mind you I pickup mail only on Saturday as I work out of state. Every time I go here there is an excuse for lack of customer service. I feel they need to deliver mail to our door until they get themselves together. Since Julie was rear-ended in her accident...the service has been terrible with your substitute drivers..I get all my neighbors mail and wonder where mine is going....for a while I took it to their houses but soon felt it was not my job. I have never seen such rude, lazy people in all my life. My package that I NEEDED today never came in, yet the post office has had it since yesterday. Went there myself to pick it up & they acknowledged they received it the day before, but said they haven't sorted the packages yet & said they have 3 days to sort the packages from the day they received it! Really?? They refused to look for it! After today I have no use for this package, I need it for today, so I told them they may as well not attempt to deliver it after today because I have no use for it after today, they could care less! I don't know how this post office has not been closed down by the government. First off, it took me two months to get my apartment mailbox keys. I would call literally everyday and talked to 8+ employees and every time they would say they were out of mailbox keys. I was told by a few different employees that I didn't have to pay the $30 fee until my keys came in. But I knew something was fishy when sometimes I would call and they would say they just ran out of the keys that came in. I was wondering how they prioritize who gets keys considering I had been waiting over two months. I even filed a formal complaint with the federal office and they agreed that the entire thing was insane (including the $30 fee). Finally, after two months, I called and they said they had keys in. When I went in to get them, I got to talk to an employee that actually knew what they were talking about and it turns out that I could have had my keys all along, but they only gave them to the people who paid the $30 first. HOW DID 8+ EMPLOYEES NOT KNOW THIS!?!?! Okay, so you would think the ordeal would be over right? I have my keys after two months and now I should have access to my mail.............. WRONG. Two weeks have gone by and my mailbox key doesn't even work! So i called and they said that a lot of people are experiencing that issue because they lost track of which locks have been replaced. So now I have to conveniently make the hour long journey for a 100th time to exchange my keys for new ones (which means another 2 week wait for the locks to change). And just keep in mind, this is the shortened version of everything that happened. There was plenty of lost & delayed mail in the mix, as well as an employee that said they would put my mail on hold but didn't. When I asked how its possible for a months worth of mail to fit inside my dinky mailbox, the PO worker told me that they will just throw out some of the old stuff to make room for the new stuff. HOLY F. I just figured I would vent on here so other people can relate if they are having similar problems. This post office seriously needs to be investigated because all of their employees are literally the stupidest group of people I've ever met. UPDATE:: Went to exchange my mailbox keys for ones that would work. An employee told me I could keep my keys and the driver would change my lock today. However, the employee on the phone had told me they already replaced my lock but must have accidentally done it twice so its the wrong one. The lady at the office is deaf so it wasn't worth arguing. Um these people are nice in person but if you call about mail not being delivered the say they'll call the carrier and have it fix. Didn't happen. The lie about attempting to deliver when they don't cause they don't want to work late like most Americans. A snow delay in the morning causes others not to get their mail. Did anyone else see a commercial about rain shine sleet or snow you get your mail? Cause I did. Don't lie just say you didn't attempt to deliver that you ended your route for the day.
