I was visiting family when I decided to come in here. I'm a member of 1662. All the members were very friendly and I got a great tour too. If I lived in the area I would definitely join this lodge. If anyone from 1812 is ever in Sitka I'd be thrilled to show them the same hospitality they showed me. read more

Visiting this lodge was delightful! Our visit was on a Friday -- with dinner & Karaoke happening that evening. Our group of 16 were welcomed with open arms by all officers & official members as we ate our dinner. The bartenders were friendly and served up our requests fast & precise. We were taken our a tour of the lodge which was remarkably large and beautiful. The parking was equipped for an abundance of parking for large events. Karaoke was fun and the room was full! Great place for a large gathering. The dinner I went too was to support childrens Christmas this year. It was very nice. A lot of people attended. We ate outside. They served baked potatoes and chili. read more

Came for a birthday party here. This is a very nice venue. The parking lot us huge. It is set up well and makes sense. There is a big dance floor and the acoustics are good for both DJ's and live bands. The bathrooms are very clean also has a changing station for what I presume are for brides. They have a beautiful outdoor patio area with ample seating. If I were to throw a party this place would be in my top ten. read more

Elks Lodge 1812 - Nice dance venue - Bars Near Me - El Cajon, California

Don't know why nobody has reviewed since there's been check-ins. I was at a private function at the outdoor area. It is a huge covered space with concrete floor, easily 120 by 50. Plenty of room for a combination of band, dance floor and table seating. Easy private access from the expansive parking lot, bypassing the building. The wall along the building has a full bar with seating and has multiple beers on tap, including Newcastle. I was told there was an even more elaborate bar just inside the door. This same wall provides access to the facility kitchens for food prep. Along the rear of the patio area is also a large outdoor restaurant style kitchen with BBQ, flat tops and prep areas as well as a large serving bar servicing the covered patio area. With the mild climate we enjoy in SD, thus is a great venue for functions and one can raise hell without bothering a soul. With the concrete floor, spills aren't a concern and there's nothing to damage, just hose it down when done! read more

First of all, I was a member for many years. While Like all fraternal orders or clubs, there are good people and bad people but here, the bad outweighs the good tenfold! When I first joined this fraternal order, I was impressed by the utter kindness of some of its members, like Don Sauter and his wife, Linda, who are good practicing Christians, whom I hold the utmost respect for. However some things about this Lodge gave me a very uneasy feeling . My first negative experience was an outdoor BBQ and fundraiser that we attended. They sold raffle tickets for all of the donated prizes. Since it was my wife's birthday, I bought one hundred dollar's worth of tickets for the drawings. Well, as it turned out, we had good luck that day. My wife won two prizes, One was a gift certificate for a local restaurant, and she also won the main prize, a beautiful hand carved Elk by a famed local artist. My wife couldn't have been more happy. Unfortunately, this was very short lived. A tall man with glasses, whom I later discovered occupied a key position in the lodge, took me aside and demanded we refuse to accept it. He insisted we give it back. He stated, point blank, that we had not been members long enough, or high enough in the hierarchy, to warrant receiving such a prize. I learned later that this type of petty behavior is commonly practiced in this Lodge. I bluntly responded my wife won it fair and square, and I was not going to break her heart by returning it. I imagine this action didn't bode well for me. as I would not adhere to their petty demands and just knuckle under. Most people have heard of cliques, groups of elitist people who feel entitled. Well there seems to be a lot of individuals within this Lodge who believe that this is their own privately run country club. You can try to steer around these arrogant windbags but you are still going to have to encounter them. No matter how much you try to shield yourself from them by surrounding yourself with the good people, they will wreak havoc and feel entitled to do so . I don't like Dissing organizations but this Elks Lodge does not practice the higher Ideals it professes to hold. To make this lodge better, Members should strive to get rid of the outright corruption and inane pettiness of some of its members, like the one I mentioned above. There is a very high turnover of new and old members leaving this lodge, as I did out of utter disgust by not renewing my membership. They are constantly trying to attract and entice new members by putting their best foot forward, while hiding the one with Gangrene, reeking of elitist stench. This lodge has had severe financial issues for years and has raised their membership fees many times, rather than dealing with the real issues within. I guess they don't want to offend the Elitist hierarchy that consist mostly of pompous drunkards whose bar tabs financially keep the lodge afloat. Trying to change this is like Don Quixote tilting at windmills. Personally, I think they owe my wife and I a formal apology, as well as all of the other former members of this Lodge who have had to deal with this type of childish, outlandish behavior. read more

This is the best Elks Lodge around. I've been to a few other ones Oceanside and a couple in San Diego and even the one in Hawaii. Place is laid back and everybody is so nice great bartenders great karaoke. read more

Hands down the best place to socialize in El Cajon. It is a wonderful sisterhood/ brotherhood of people coming together with a shared passion of raising money to help children and veterans and having a blast doing it! The El Cajon Elks Lodge strives to have something for everyone to enjoy while being charitable to the community. There are family events and some events that are better for the over 21s. Parties, dinners, dancing, singing karaoke, playing cards, playing pool, ping pong, air hockey, or just chatting with your Elks family. That's just a little of what's going on! Not the greatest customer service.. tried watching the news and it was suddenly changed to country music based upon new leadership rules.. when I asked the bar tender if I could watch a show (any show), the television was turned off.. The El Cajon Elks Lodge is the greatest place and best kept secret in San Diego East County, El Cajon. there are great meeting facilities. RV hookups, a grand pool room, a modern Banquet Room with chandeliers and a kitchen and even more! the bartenders are amazing and very friendly. the members are warm and inviting. it's best to be a member for about 120 dollars a year because then you can fully utilize the facility and volunteer and help with their charitable efforts. The bartenders here were very rude. My husband and I are volunteers for a fundraiser that helps children and their families. We attended our event here and the bartender with short blonde hair was extremely rude. There were tickets for free drinks for the event and my husband thought I turned his in, and got a beer from the tap. He wasn't sure how the process of the ticket and drinks were going so when he returned to his seat with his beer the waitress walks over to our table grabs the beer out of his hand without even asking him or giving him a chance to explain. It was very disrespectful and I did not appreciate it nor did he at all. I spoke to her about it and she just yells back why she thought she should have taken it, etc. I told her she should have approached him in a more respectful manner because walking over and grabbing a drink from someone without any conversation or reasonable discussion is just plain rude. The other bartender apologized for her actions but was cutting me off as I was talking and just saying sorry for her actions but not really allowing me to talk. Guess these bartenders are used to treating people that way but not us. Would never recommend this place at all. The bartender was working Wednesday evening at 530 til when we left around 645/7pm. read more
