The owner & office staff at this KOA are rude, crude, & obnoxious. On August 3,2020 while I was in the waiting room to see my Oncologist for my Bladder Cancer, I went online to book a 3 night stay at the Elizabethtown / Hershey PA KOA for August 14th - 17th. it was around 10:30AM. I booked & confirmed the stay, after seeing my Oncologist, I went home and found out that our camper which was in the shop for warranty work was not going to be ready as promised. They were waiting on parts & because of the pandemic they had no idea when the parts would arrive. I waited until the Friday before our trip to check on our camper again. It was not going to be ready in time for our trip. I called the KOA and spoke to what sounded like a young female. She told me that the cancellation confirmation will be emailed to me, but not right away. I received an email from them a few days later on Wed Aug 12, it was a guest policies update about covid - 19. I called them and told them about this email & told the lady that I had cancelled on August 7th. She told me that they had no record of my cancellation. Someone will look into it and get back to me. I talked to the office lady the next day & I was called a liar.I asked to speak to the manager & was told not available, I asked to speak to the owner & was told not available either. I told her that I have the phone record on my phone and that I cancelled at 12:22 pm on Aug 7, 2020. This was within their 7 day cancel period. She said someone will look into it a little further & return my call. Later that day, I talked to the office lady again and things got loud on both ends, then they hung up on me. I called back a few minutes later & they denied hanging up on me. I finally was transferred to the manager. I had to explain everything again. They were still denying that I canceled. She said they will issue a refund. The next day, I had to call back again because they withheld $10 for cancellation fee. I told them that I was VIP and don't get charged this fee. I explained all that had transpired to this person & mentioned that I was going to book another trip there next month after I get my camper back. She apologized for all the problems and was being real nice. After I got camper back, I went online and booked a site there for Sept 17th. A few days later, I get a Email from the owner, Mr. Karl Schmidt. He tells me" that because of the way that I handled the previous reservation and the subsequent cancellation, I decided to have my manager cancel your latest reservation, to allow you the opportunity to find a better suited campground for your needs" I responded to his email & suggested that his people weren't being honest about what had transpired, & letting him know of my phone record showing that I had called to cancel when I said I did.... I'm not sure why he didn't like me booking online? but, Karl Schmidt chose to ignore my email. At the very least, this man Karl Schmidt owes me an apology! Camping is very important to me, especially during this pandemic. I'm disabled, this man violated my rights by canceling my reservation without talking to me personally. He heard one side of the story & made an executive decision. Besides the Bladder Cancer, I have heart blockage, I have COPD, I've had 5 back surgeries, 2 neck surgeries, I have a neck fusion, a low back fusion, & a spinal cord stimulator surgically implanted. I'm high risk for covid and camping is an activity that I can control my own safety. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT ALL OF THIS IS TRUE. MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAMPGROUND!!! read more

The staff at this campground are rude, judgmental and liars. In 20 years of camping we have not experienced anything worse. They have one staff member that continuously watched us and kept adjusting his genitals, another who referred to us as ignorant, another who told us "We dont look like we belong here" and they all had big attitudes with everything we said. They run the place like a prison and talk down to you. We had 2 people that were friendly and honest otherwise everyone else had terrible customer service. The owners themselves are very rude so i guess it trickles down. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I am torn between giving this campground a 1 or a 4. Positive: It is a very clean and the atmosphere is pretty. Negative: At check-in the person at the counter was rude due to my husband forgetting his wallet in the car. Note: check-in is at 3 Also IMPORTANT: Their dog policy is horrible. I was told that it doesn't matter what the paperwork says, if your dog looks like a pit bull, rotwiller, or Doberman you will not be allowed to stay there. And if they see you with a dog that looks like one of these breeds you will be kicked out. We (and our friends) will not be staying here again. read more

Woman at the entrance was nasty. Based on other yelp reviews this is a common theme. Koa tried to do a forced compliance of making the sites do trick or treat for the kids. They even sent a golf cart around to talk to all of the sites. If you want to enjoy the peacefull freedom of the outdoors, this is not the place to come. read more

My wife and I were traveling through and needed to stop for the night. The 1 star comes from the horse manure smell that just wreaks throughout the whole campground. Very few of the tent sites are shaded and the wifi is super slow. You won't be able to do much on it except check email. So much for planning the rest of our trip! Only positive note is that the bathrooms were clean. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights/4 days in August on one of the premium tent sites. First impression: Not great. As we pulled up I stopped where the sign said to for check in. I unloaded my kids and went to approach the building. As I'm about to enter one of the employees, who was watching me the whole time, stops me and says those spots are reserved for RVs and I should pull in to the spots in front of the store. Why wait until both kids are out of the car to say something? That meant I had to load them both back in the car and drive the few feet. Annoyed, hot, and with a crying child (didn't understand what was going on), I wasn't amused. The tent site was very spacious, easily enough room for 2 tents- one 5 person Alps and one 3 person Eureka. Parking was a little tight with two cars, but we made it work. The parking area is full of gravel/rocks. Why does this matter? There were lots of rocks in the woodchip tent area, which were not comfortable to sleep on. We tried moving them out of the way before setting up our tents, but there were so many of them (and it was hot). The other thing I will mention is the ants. SO. MANY. ANTS!!!! I'm guessing there was an anthill either in the woodchip area or very close nearby. At any point there were at least 50 ants on the rainfly. Luckily most of them stayed outdoors, but I definitely had some crawling on me while trying to sleep. (and yes, I realize there are ants outdoors and will always be on tents, but I've slept in several group camping areas with scouts and never had as many ants as here). Listing says "near the bathrooms" which is sort of true. There is a pretty steep hill you need to walk up from the tents to the bathroom. It is maybe a 5 minute walk depending on which site you have. Keep that in mind if you have to use the bathroom a lot during the night. The restrooms are very clean and spacious. We used the main one near the rec hall and it was always clean no matter what time of day. There are a few showers where you can wash off the chlorine or gunk from camping. Warm water (not always a given) and a dishwashing station are available. The amenities are decent, not great. Two playgrounds (neither anything spectacular), a gaga ball bit, volleyball court, very sad basketball court, giant chess set, putt putt, giant connect 4, and a rec room. I won't go in to detail for each, but the giant connect 4, giant chess set, and playground were hits with my children. I personally enjoyed the rec room because it offered a quiet place to cool off from the heat, a VERY old TV with a few channels, and board games/blocks/sheets to color. Nobody mentioned that it is always unlocked and you can hang out there whenever you want. We did that a few times during our stay. It is an underutilized area for sure. I didn't do putt putt, but my 10 year old did and had a blast. Not crazy busy and pretty shaded. The shuttle to Hershey would have been great, but wasn't running. The pools are the main attractions. The big pool has a shallow area for the little ones, a set of steps down to a slightly deeper area-3/4 ft and then a gradual drop to 5 feet. The pool did seem overfilled when we went, as I was having trouble staying above water in the 5ft section (5 6). The temperature was consistently cold. Not so cold that you couldn't get in, but it took a while to adjust. Very refreshing in the upper 80 temps, but a little bit warmer would have been preferred. Each time we went for a swim my 3 year old would inevitably get too cold and we'd have to cut our swimming short. The smaller pool is more for little ones to splash around and play in. There are some benches built into the edge, which is a nice place to chill and keep an eye on things. Neither pool was super crowded most of the time except mid-day Saturday. We also went near the end of the season which likely made a difference. Activities were basically non-existent. They opened the cafe almost every night for a few hours, and sadly that was the highlight. They offer a few bar type foods (pizza, cheese sticks, ice cream) for a pretty reasonable amount. On Saturday they had a french toast breakfast for about $7 which included three 1/2 slices of french toast, sausage or bacon, and a juice or coffee. Ice cream did seem a little overpriced at $3-4 for one scoop. There was a hayride on Saturday evening but that was it. All over the place there are signs saying they are understaffed and to have patience. I don't know if they can't afford to hire people or nobody wants to work there. Whatever the reason, it was a bit disappointing to have 1 activity the entire time we were there. Even something simple like having group games in the field or a movie in the rec room would have been appreciated. The campgrounds are about 20 minutes away from Hershey. We visited for the free tour and the gardens. Both recommended, although go early for the tour. It was getting crowded when we left at 10 30. read more

We booked a site next to our friends for the weekend. The worker who led us to our sites told us could park our campers so they were facing each other. We proceeded to set up our campers and lots of Halloween decorations. That night as we sat around the campfire a worker came by and told us to turn our music off and we did. The next morning the same worker told us they were kicking us out because "they had to come by 5 times and sit outside our campsite for 3 hours" and because of the way we set up our campers. Since this was untrue and extreme, we talked to the manager at the reception desk who called us ignorant. When we talked to the owner, he started by saying "you look like you don't belong here". When we told him about the worker who said we could setup the way we did, he proceeded to claim there was no one there who met the description of the worker -- like he didn't know who his own employees were. They said we had 45 minutes to get out and they'd refund our second night. I should also mention that the worker who had told us to turn off the music Friday night was also the same worker who told us to leave on Saturday and followed us around the entire time Saturday until we left. He seemed as if he was trying to intimidate us and was constantly grabbing his crotch, kind of perverted. We did manage to get out under the tight timeline and as we were checking out, they were already checking other campers into our sites. Based on our experience and now reading other reviews, it seems like they harass and kick people out so they can double book sites on busy weekends. We are two respectful, religious families with little kids, and to be told lies about our conduct and behavior, called names, be judged, talked down to was just unbelievable. I will never be staying here or at another KOA. read more

Went to check in for 4th of July weekend and was told by staff (must be dog experts to DNA a dog) that our dog looked to be mixed with pit and were told we couldn't stay here. No refund or anything! Stay away from this place!! Would give 0 stars if I could!! read more

We stayed here for our Hershey vacation. We picked here because of the pool, putt putt and location to Hershey sites. We rented the deluxe cabin with loft for the kids. As someone else mentioned, it gave us the camping experience without having to rough it (which is more our style.) The cabin was clean and it was nice that it was stocked with linens, keurig and full kitchen/ bath. They even gave us some complimentary k cups. The loft was great for the kids but was really tight. There were 2 mattresses there for the kids. Each cabin has their own fire pit and you can buy wood and they can deliver it to you. Everyone was really nice. The pool looked nice. We spent 4 nights but didn't get a chance to use it. It was too chilly 2 days and we were at Hershey too late. We did do the putt putt. The kids enjoyed it. There are 2 playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts. They have balls available to play for campers. The game room was good for the kids when it was rainy. All in all, I'm really happy we stayed and would recommend it to anyone looking for the camping experience or fun for kids. read more

My family had a GREAT time at this KOA! The campgrounds were clean and they kept the bathhouses very clean. From the time of check-in, until we left, the staff was just amazing! We just left there today. Although they have so many amenities like the pool, volleyball, rec hall, fishing pond, they also have great activities. We went during Christmas in July. They had Christmas decorations up, Santa ride through and took pictures with us. They did a Christmas ride for families and the kids really enjoyed that. My group had about 8-9 campsites there and we all felt the place was safe enough to let our kids run around the place. In the main bathhouse, they have music playing through the speakers. I really enjoyed that, especially during my shower. I never had to wait for a bathroom. The staff came through every morning and picked up our trash, which was soooo convenient! Even we checked-in, we were escorted to our sites instead of trying to find it ourselves. I took away one star for the smell! Periodically throughout the day, we smelled a sewage smell. I'm not sure what it was but it was bad, like we were at the zoo. It wasn't all day, though. I highly recommend this place! read more

Well maintained & quiet campground. The only complaint is that the store wasn't fully stocked(only a few drinks, no ice cream treats for the kids, very little food to buy). May just be due to the time of year as the campground was only about half full this weekend. Close to Harrisburg airport so planes fly low but we didn't find it to be a problem. read more

Visiting Hershey? In the camping spirit? Elizabethtown KOA is a great place to go. Conveniently located near store for shopping and plenty of activities to partake in. Upon entrance, you'll notice a large playground and plenty of spacious pull through sights. A guard is usually waiting to check your pass or direct you to check in. The office is clean and has a nice little camp store with merchandise and camp essentials along with ice and firewood. The sites are nice and have fire rings. I've never been inside the cabins but they appear nice from the outside. The bathroom, laundry, pool and recreation facilities are all nice and well kept. Trash is picked up daily. They do have special weekends with activities that are really nice. Overall the staff is friendly and helpful, but I must admit the older lady at the office doesn't have the nicest personality. However, she does deal with not so nice people on a daily basis and I'm sure that can be frustrating so I give her the benefit of the doubt. I highly recommend Elizabethtown KOA and hope you take advantage of this wonderful campground. Other reviewers mentioned septic smell and out of the 4 recent times there I didn't ever smell anything. read more

This is one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. The staff is all super friendly and go out of their way to help you. The campground is very clean and well kept and their landscaping is beautiful. Theres lots of activities for kids. Very clean bathhouses. They even have hiking trails (which aren't marked very well but its still fun to explore the woods) and a small fishing pond. Convenient location, only 20 minutes to Hershey and 30 minutes to Lancaster area. Overall a very good experience- will definitely be back!!! read more

The campground is nice, clean, and relaxing. I stayed in a queen cabin with a bathroom and it was quite nice. The pool is large and fun with water showers in the shallow end. There is also a kiddy pool with the pool handicap accessible. Very children friendly. My largest complaint is with the staff. They all seemed pretty unfriendly and not very helpful. Also when we were by the pool area, one male staff member was acting very strange, walked into the building and started at my girlfriend. Other then that there are cool things to do. It's also in a great location with a nice little town and hundreds of fun things to do within a 30 minute radius. It was a fun time over all. Check in: very rude woman... Actually said "wow" to me when I told her that my child special needs were "personal". She had asked me what my child's special needs were... She then proceeded to have attitude with me during check in. I asked her to stop giving me an attitude... She then proceeded to tell me that we "understood rude people"... Implying that I was the rude one! I will be contacting management! Smell: like horse manure smell, well then this is the place for you. It was overwhelming at times. Noise level: nice and quiet. Pool: clean and maintained well. Sites: small, similar to most rv Parks.... Mini golf... Not well maintained.. Store: has light supplies. A great Campground with much to do. The family and I enjoyed our time here, and there are plenty activities for the kiddos. The space easily fit my 31 foot camper and have full hookup. The location is very convenient to Hershey Park and downtown activities. Would highly recommend someone looking for a good Campground in this area to the utilize KOA! read more

I wish that I could say that my experience with KOA was a good one. I wouldn't give them any stars! I booked my entire vacation with KOA camp sites and also bought the membership since I was going to be camping with KOA frequently. But I later found out that my type of dog breed was not accepted at any of the KOA campgrounds I booked and had to cancel all my reservations and the membership. The person I called to cancel the membership told me that it would be refunded. A year later I found it that it wasn't, there is no record of me calling to cancel my reservation or my membership, and everyone refuses to return my money for the membership program. I keep getting the run around, hung up on, and told I never called to cancel with them. Now when I call to talk to the manager, she's never "in the office". I don't understand why it's so hard to get MY money back for something I never used!! I will never camp at KOA or refer them to anyone else because of this experience. read more

Bring plenty of cash & patience if you plan to stay here, don't count on the Park "Shuttle" either. For our vacation, My wife & I flew into Baltimore, we rented a motor home to take our 4 grand kids, their parents & my mother-in-law camping & to Hershey Park. We had no other vehicle & specifically chose this KOA for it's proximity to the park & for their "Shuttle" amenity to/from the park. We started having trouble immediately just trying to reserve a site online.Their website would not not allow booking a reservation for a single site with more than 6 people. I had to call in, the woman said to just list the additional 3 as visiting "guests." When we arrived they were having trouble operating their new credit card system, I had to run several cards before one would take. I specifically asked what time the shuttles started leaving for the park? She stated 9:00 am. About 9:30 am the next morning I went up to find out where the shuttle loaded and when the next one would be? She said there was only one shuttle per day and it had just left. I then found out their one shuttle to the park leaves at 9:00 am, with two pick up times, one at 5:00 pm & one at 9:00 pm. (This is not mentioned anywhere on their website.) She said there were only 14 seats & you have to reserve them the day before and tomorrow's was already filled. (14 seats total for a campground with 150+ sites? Not much of an amenity.) Apparently even though I specifically asked the night before, they felt it wasn't important to mention this during check-in. So we had to unhook, pack-up the motor home & take it. The next day we stayed at the KOA. I had some friends drive in to visit for a few hours, We had to pay $6 each for them to enter and park their car at our site, (even though they did not use any of the facilities.) Luckily the kids brought their own fishing poles, otherwise you'll have to rent a stick with a string & hook for $2.75. There is also charge to play the mini golf as well. (Apparently the $300+ I paid for 4 days isn't sufficient to cover stuff like this.) Friday night the campground filled up, two of their rental cabins next to us must have had 6 people in each. They were up partying & drinking until 1:00 am, but I let it go. After taking the motor home to the park again Saturday, we came back about 9:00 pm. Drove to our site & parked. One of the employees came over in a golf cart copping an attitude, stating I was speeding through the campground. He claims he "chased" me all the way in. I have no idea how you could possibly speed a 40' motor home on a rough dirt road, up & down hills with (2) 90 degree turns at night. But I apologized anyway, he mumbled something under his breath & left. Later that night the partiers were at it again until 2:00 am, my wife called the office #, which only provides a secondary "emergency" # to contact after hours. (Neither of us felt loud people constituted an emergency), and just notified the office the next morning. They shrugged it off stating they new who it was. So apparently their 11pm-7am "quite time" is merely an unenforceable suggestion. We won't be back. read more

Overall we had a great time at the clean, cheap and very kid & dog friendly KOA. I do wish the staff were a bit friendlier in general and were more flex on late checkout or just using the pool or mini golf for an hour afterwards ( even at a cost it's not even available). It rained soon after we arrived & the pool didn't open until 10 the next day so we only had an hour to swim in the morning. Other than that, we had a nice experience while we were there & enjoyed the grounds very much. read more

We were surprised to find a KOA in Elizabethtown. It's a quiet campground which is great for people on the night shift, and the pricing was reasonable. Lots of spots for Class A RV's, convenient location for working at TMI. I would stay here again, preferably when it's warmer. read more

Has a great "glamping" experience at KOA in Hershey Pa (Elizabethtown, PA). We stayed in a cabin, brought our dogs and a bunch of our friends-- friends stayed in tents, an RV, and another cabin. Super clean facilities, super nice staff, and plenty of nearby activities for both kids and adults. read more

Stayed five nights. Fantastic RV park. Great staff and lots to do. Great location for civil war history or going to Amish country. Clean facilities and lots of grassy areas for the dogs. The only thing keeping me from giving it a "5" was a really nasty sewer smell that permeated the campground on our last day. We had to stay inside all day with the windows closed. We chose this campground as it was central to families to meet from differing states. When we could not get needed information from the web reservation we called numerous times to get information and were abruptly directed back to the web to make arrangements. Finally we spoke with a woman who said we could put a tent on our site as a Buddy site along with arranging other close so we could be together. We arrived and found that we were not together and that the other group was down a hill and around a bend. We requested this so the children would be visible and could circulate among the rest of the family. Our son, on leave from the Navy, arrived the next day planning to set up a tent on our site for $5 as advertised. He was met and barked at by a rude employee when he parked where the signs directed him to and entered the office only to be met with a$150 plus bill for the same site we had already paid almost $200.00. They pitched their tent on a bumpy hill not conducive to a tent having no other choice than a strip of grass right next to the road. The site for the tent also happened to be right next to a neighboring RVs sewer hook up. Our daughter in law went to the office to complain only about the billing only to be brushed off by an employee. She then sent a complaint to the corporate office about the bait and switch approach and was redirected to the owner with whom there was no relief to her complaint. She got on the website for the campground to write a review and posted it. Big mistake! If you post to review this campground be sure to leave first. Later the owner came to visit us and her first remark began "I don't appreciate..." right then and there the tone was set. She stated that she sent them confirmation via email but she never had their address! She basically offered to give us a full refund and we could leave in the morning rather than listen and solve a problem. PLUS, she had no business airing another customer's business with us family,or not. As an educator,I have always tried to give a way to correct a problem once I complain so here it goes... Post signage that is clear. If you want only campers to park in a certain place, mark it thus. If you want cars to register at the office indicate you want them to pull in front. Why put your employees in a position when a simple sign can solve the issue. If you advertise $5 per tent with a camper, honor it until you change your policy on your website to reflect your true meaning. Consider a differing reduced rate to make your campground family friendly instead of gouging families. When they question, listen. Enlist the help of someone to help train both you and your employees in consumer/business interactions and model it yourself. If you are rude and unprofessional, your employees will be also. If you can't get a group together call and see if other considerations can be made. Most people listen and are willing to help you solve an issue before they get there rather than having to try to do it when tempers flare. As far as the facility is concerned, the campground gravel is not really gravel but more like a crushed slate that is messy and difficult to clean out of tents and campers. The area around the pool and office and sites in close proximity smell like manure. On the plus side, the restrooms are clean but I really didn't plan to spend four days inside them--professionalism and courtesy were more important and that is definitely lacking at this facility. This has been the only campground we have ever had issues with in over forty years and the ONLY KOA. You really owe my son and his wife an apology as well as a refund. He serves his country to make you free to treat people this way. Remember that. read more

Great campground. Great location for area attractions without being in the heart of things. Very clean, all amenities work great and plenty of room for big rigs. We had no trouble with our 40' fifth wheel. They have nice pull thrus and back ins. The fishing pond is a great place to hang out. Not much in activities but they have a nice pool and the campground lends to a nice walk. They have a great dog park for all sizes! read more

The campground is nice and clean. When we checked in the one lady was extremely rude. They have a policy that they don't except certain breeds (or mixes) of dogs. She was apparently a paramedic and saw dog attacks so to her all dogs of those breeds must be killers. We didn't see this policy on the website when making reservations. There is a spot to check yes for pets and there should be some kind of message as soon as you check the box! When I went back to look for it on the website I only saw it on the FAQS section. Everyone else was friendly. Amazing how one person can ruin your trip. read more

This is the absolute worst KOA I have ever been to!! Actually worst campground ever been to!! A month prior to our arrival I called and asked to speak to a manager and asked if my 10yr Rottweiler would be allowed. He stays in our camper day and night and only goes out for a walk twice a day they said yes. So I made the reservation after getting the okay over the phone. Each KOA is different and some do not allow certain breeds which is not right!! We have been to 6 KOA's this season and all allowed my rotti! Any way we arrived at 6:50pm on Friday we were checking in and they asked if traveling with pets, I said yes a dog. The lady said what breed, I told her a Rottweiler. She immediately dropped everything and said oh no no no we don't accept them kind of dogs. I said I called ahead and verify she then told me no I didn't!!! You called somewhere else. I told her do you think I would drive 4hrs from home knowing that you don't accept my dog?????? Then Debbie got involved. Very very rude lady! She said you have to find a kennel for your dog or if you can't find a kennel I'll refund your money. My dog has never been in a kennel before luckily I found and awesome kennel down the road that closed at 7pm but waited until I got there to leave. Then when returning from taking my dog to the kennel the guy at the check in entrance said where's your car tag I had said I had to leave as soon as we got here to bring my dog to the kennel and the tag is in the other vehicle with the rest of the paperwork. He then told me " when he drives around tonight it better be in the car for him to see it or there will be an issue". How rude are these people!!!!!!! Then after all the confusion Sunday morning I finally got to look at all the paperwork and they over charged me!! So I then go down to the store to find out why and how much extra did they charge me and the lady couldn't help me she had to take a copy of the receipt and get back to me but thinks I got charged $30 to much!!! After we left the store we go to get French toast breakfast at 10:03 and I asked the guy behind the counter where we go to get breakfast he shakes his head and rudely said were closed. Then the lady come out from the back and says no we just made a lot more French toast you can eat. Five minutes into eating the rude guy behind the counter starts packing up all the orange juice apple juice and hot water. There's still five tables eating. We then go back into the store and get our daughter a toy and use our debit card and they want our id. We where just in there 10mins ago!!! In the rules this KOA says your fire must be out by 12:30am, what campground has rules on what time your fire has to be put out. Our fire ring is at the entrance of our site about 60ft away from our camper and picnic table. You can't even move the fire ring because 1, your not allowed and 2, it's dug down in the ground. The staff drove around on their golf carts passing our site every 20mins staring at you making it feel as if your doing something wrong. We are a KOA rewards member and have never gotten treated like this, this people ruin my whole trip!!! I will be contacting corporate regarding this KOA and the way we were treated!! Worst campground ever!!!! I advise you not to come here!!!!! Staff is extremely rude and very unhelpful! I wish I read reviews before I came here. KOAs are usually a little pricey, but these rates were twice what we usually pay for a campsite. In addition there was a $10 per head entry fee for any visitor, no matter how long they stayed, even if they didn't use any facilities. Cost us $20 just to have an old friend and his wife over for dinner. This experience was bad enough to turn me off from KOAs in general. read more

The camp was very clean and well kept, but like a lot of others, that is the best I can say. I read a lot of reviews before booking, but now, after looking back at their reviews, it seems this particular KOA treats their RV customers a little different than others. In my opinion, that can be contributed to the owners snobby personality. I had to agree to, and sign a list of rules/lease agreement for a 2 night stay. Each rule listed threatened a fee or fine if broken. I was signed in by the OWNER, and she was very rude and snotty and made it a point to let me know that she was not there to clean up after me, and that we not only needed to clean our cabin before leaving, we needed to take our own trash to the dumpster (I dont mind that, but most KOA camps pick up trash). All of this before we even seen the cabin. When we did get to our cabin, we found that we had been downgraded from our reservation. I booked a delux cabin with full bath and kitchen. What we got was a studio cabin with bath and just a microwave and tiny fridge. Apparently they reserve the right to do this based on our party size. To top everything off, we were constantly being watched by the golf cart patrol that went by every 20 to 30 minutes(NOT an exaggeration), making us feel like we were walking on egg shells the entire time. I literally flipped when coffee was spilled on the concrete because I was afraid it would stain and I would be charged for it. Also, we were there for a wedding in town and a couple of family members came for a short, ONE HOUR visit and were charged $6 each. They were also very rudely informed that only 4 visitors maximum were allowed at one time. The staff were either unsocialable, or rude and the camp store never opened or closed by the hours posted. This is a very strict and uninviting KOA. The worst I have ever stayed at and that is saying a lot, since I have been a KOA member for 7 years and have stayed at several. All in all, I understand policy and rules, but this place was over the top and I do not appreciate being treated as if I am an unwanted guest, especially when I am paying for it. We will never return and I do not recommend Hershey KOA to anyone. read more
