The trail is paved and easy to walk or bike A great way to bike uptown or downtown while enjoying the river views A great spot to watch the sunset Plenty of benches along the way to sit and relax The park and trail are well maintained It's a great place for a walk, bike ride, a relaxing evening, or simply enjoying the views. Nice park with some benches along the way. There's a path you can walk alongside the river. Haven't gotten to explore it yet but the bridge in the background connects Harrisburg downtown to City Island. read more

Traveled to Riverfront Park for a concert. I found the location to be a really great place to catch a show. It is right along the water which brought a nice breeze during the show. I like how the venue has all the food and drink and merchandise vendors right where you entered. This keeps the show crowd and purchasing crowd separate. The variety of food vendors was great, plenty of vegan options for me to scope out. The acoustics were pretty good during the show. Hearing was not an issue, except for when the train went through blowing its horn. Seeing was a bit trickier as the concert area is pretty narrow especially as it moves towards the back. This is one place where investing in VIP tickets might be worthwhile. read more

Riverfront Park's trail is good for running, walking biking, or whatever activity might suit your fancy. You'll find the the views from the trail are really nice :-) Tip: Riverfront Park is especially busy in the summer, so if you're riding on something with wheels you need to be extra careful not to run into pedestrians who aren't paying attention The trail within is really starting to show its age; repaving would be an excellent thing in a lot of places! read more

I'm going all out here and giving this lovely park and entire riverfront area five stars. Pretty much because it's all there is on the riverfront and because it is full of beauty, wildlife, and a great place to exercise by running, walking, or biking. The park stretches from the north at the Susquehanna Township border all the way down to the PennDot building. Biking and running trails continue onward along the Capital Greenbelt and throughout the area, making for a great run or ride. The park is site to several city festivals every year and is very family and pet friendly. Whether you're recreating or just taking a nice stroll along the river, this is a great place for all to enjoy nature in the middle of a nice city we call home. read more

I thought there was a river here, but it was just a front. A Riverfront. Riverfront Park in Harrisburg is absolutely beautiful. It's really just all about the river. They set aside a small sliver of green land between the road and the river all along the Susquehanna from the north part of town all the way through midtown and to downtown, and it's absolutely gorgeous. read more

Great location, nice breeze off the water, only downside is it long and narrow so sometimes seeing the performer is hard. There's also no seating at all and sitting on the ground leaves you getting stepped on. No chairs, blankets, or anything else is allowed in, but we still enjoyed ourselves read more

Have been here multiple times for walks along the river. They have the pedestrian walking path - people are cycling, running, walking dogs. The views are spectacular of the river and the city from here. Bridges, building, landmarks, statues views are awesome. Very relaxful place. read more

This stretch of park along the Susquehanna River is beautiful. It runs for miles along the riverbank and has quite a bit of variety in landscape and points of interest. There are multiple walking paths, biking paths, flower gardens, stone plateaus overlooking the water, statues and memorials. You can actually get right down to the water via large steps that go directly into the river. From the park you can access Walnut Street Bridge, which takes foot traffic across to City Island. The views from the park and bridge are amazing, particularly at sunset. The only drawback to this park is that the bugs here are ridiculously annoying. At some points you have to keep moving quickly to pass through the clouds of gnats near the water. Also, it would be nice if it was kept a little cleaner, although for a park that's right in the center of a large city it's probably as clean as can be expected. read more

Harrisburg is normally the bunghole of PA - and I try to avoid it - BUT I LOVE THIS PARK. This (fairly) well kept park was a surprise when I was told about it for the first time. I expected to see more crackheads, trash, drug deals, and the common sights in HBurg - but nary a one found. One dude who looked like he was meth'd up - but one out of many ain't bad. Several arts festivals every year - I do go to all of them. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ARTS. Its a nice escape to a dreadful city. I'd love to see Harrisburg survive this harsh slump its in. Go here. Riverfront Park is a beautiful area along the river! I love to go down and walk along the river or up near front street. You can park at city island and walk across the bridge. There are easy paths so that you can walk or jog at whatever pace you prefer and they have little workout stations too which is fun. When the weather is nice this is such a great place to just go and enjoy the scenery. I love our little city and how it sits on the water. Come here and enjoy. read more

Perfect for an early morning walk or a evening walk after dinner. It's so peaceful, quiet, and beautiful by the water. This scenic park includes a trail that runs parallel to the Susquehanna River. One part of the path includes exercise stations (pull ups, etc.). There is a lower path that goes right along the water, which I didn't realize existed the first few times I ran on the path because the river water was so high from rainfall. The beautiful views are great for easily distracted and disheartened runners like me - I can watch the boats, observe people and check out the scenery, and it makes the time (and miles) pass more quickly. read more

A great park along the Susquehanna river. The Walnut Street Bridge connects it to City Island and it offers great views of the island and its attractions. Being on the shores of Harrisburg provides great views of the buildings that line Front Street as well as a view of the Pennsylvania State Capital Building. read more

While taking a quick trip to downtown Harrisburg, I had the opportunity to stop pass the Riverfront Park. What a slight! On the long stretch, people are exercising, walking their pets and just relaxing watching the Susquehanna River; course due to its location, the greenery is manicured beautifully. I look forward to spending more time here on my next visit. read more

GREAT place for a walk. I had a visitor with a service dog, and he found the sidewalks very accessible. The views are spectacular, and the architecture of the nearby homes is gorgeous. Another friend from South Africa said that the river walk with all the stone bridges across the Susquehanna reminded him of walking around Paris. While Harrisburg can't compete with lots that Paris has to offer, the Riverfront Park is a lovely feature for visitors and residents. read more

I live on front street, and this park makes the view from my room and my walks downtown lovely. It's well maintained, home to quite a few animals, and runs along the entire stretch of the city. This is an impressive park for a city of this size; one of the great aspects of Harrisburg is the lush green spaces. As the city grows, it's nice to know river front park will inject some nature into the humdrum of daily life. read more

Could use some maintenance on the river bank steps. But all in all the upper part is maintained well and beautiful. Upper half is a great place to walk and exercise! During the summer there are many festivals and activities that take place here. Art fest, Kipona, & Woof stock. Just to name a few!! read more

This is a nice park overlooking the Capitol and river, with the many bridges. I was here in the winter, so it was quite dead, icy and snowy. There were barely anyone around, except for sketchy homeless people who were down the trail by the river, so I would best bet not to come here alone. There's statues plastered along the park, and a scenic overlook. It's not the prettiest park, but it serves its purpose. read more

in from out of town, i went looking for a place to run. right by the water, nice days, previous great reviews: sold. i ran two days in a row. this is what i know... there are several miles of trails. there are two levels of space. the upper level is paved macadam and is clearly the best and smoothest way to navigate. closer to the water and down about 30' is a concrete pathway. on the north part of the concrete trail, it resembled 1980s Beiruit - cracked and crumbled and overgrown. not recommended. it got marginally better as i proceeded south towards three bridges, but i really had to keep looking down so as not to turn an ankle. the other part of running down low was the sewer system. the city sewer lines run right to this area and the stench leaking from the manhole covers was pretty disgusting. one of the bridges with a metal grate led onto city island - an island in the middle of the susquehanna river where the baseball team's stadium i located. there are also some other things to do there. only thing was i didnt know where i was running and wound up here. i wasnt sure how to get off the island - so i just turned around. there were many porta potties on the upper level. not sure if they are permanent or left seasonally or were leftover from an event. in all, the views of the sunset and some boats were pleasant around sunset but the other things mentioned above were detracting of the overall experience. it was just ok read more

Okay so it's not the fanciest Park I've ever been to. I do love it though because it is a great little get away in the downtown area. I love harrisburg's River and bridges and this provides an area to relax and soak in the view. It's also on the green trail so , if you plan on going on a day long bicycle trip, this is a good place to start. If I could say anything, really wish they had just a little more that was child focused in this park. Now that I mention it, riverfront does host our favorite labor day celebration too:) read more

Decent little city park on the water. Not too many benches or amenities, but great for walking/turning, cycling, and dogwalking. A nice oasis from the hustle and bustle of the center of the city a few blocks away. Great shade and you can catch a nice breeze on warm days. read more

Riverfront Park was a highlight of my year-long stay in the Harrisburg area. I couldn't wait to finish up work each day in Camp Hill, change to my walking clothes, drive the 10 min across the river and walk my 3 miles along the Susquehanna listening to audiobooks. The park is well landscaped and well used but wasn't ever too crowded. The views are stunning and there is often a good breeze making hot days more bearable. I never had trouble with parking. read more

It's a great park but it's a shame this guy on a homemade tricycle flies up and down the trail expecting everyone to jump out of his way. The tricycle is so wide it takes up more than half the walkway and he doesn't yield for anyone or anything. Very inconsiderate, ruins the park read more
