Meh. 3 stars. Hershey, PA itself is a gem (things like the downtown, Fresh Market, small stores, the people, etc). But all-things-Hershey feel like a bit of a tourist trap. We stayed at this campground and the vibe just felt like we were in their way rather than respected guests. They threw away something that belonged to us. A couple of the front desk ladies were awesome. A couple of the store ladies were clearly irritated and not welcoming. It's clean. The shade trees are nice. One site was very level. The second one wasn't . The location is decent & easy to get to. It's just...so mediocre for an "attraction." Sorry for the mixed bag review. The sites are so tight you can barely fit a car down the street. I have a 43 foot unit and my slides are almost touching my neighbor no parking for your tow vehicle. Pools are over 30 years old no renovations since the flood. Importantly you can't reach the front desk via phone for a site issue that's not security related. read more

We stayed there for three nights in March. When we arrived our site had its water shut off. When asked why we were told it's only for long stays. This was not in their paperwork or relayed to us prior to our arrival. Also there was no running water at the dump station. The location was pretty but I found it disappointing because of water situation. There were bath houses but I do not feel safe using these, especially at night and being an elderly woman. read more

Stayed 2 nights on a X country Rv trip. Nice level spots. Super nice people. Would stay here again in a minute. If you have kids this is a great place with lots of things for them to do. On an unrelated note...I've been lucky enough to be with the love of my life for almost 30 years. For almost 30 years we've been together 24/7. That's like an average couple together for 50 years! I love her with all my heart and I'm typing this profession of my love for her because I'm most likely not going to outlive her. [986] 9/2019 We choose this camping resort since it's owned by Hershey Park. Hershey offers a free shuttle to/from the park. Definitely a perk that had us visit this camp ground. All the sites in our loop had pull through which was good especially since there were a ton of big boys. The sites are tight so I was listening to our rude neighbor blast the music for 2 hours straight. It drowned our music out so bad that I didn't even realize our music was on when we went to bed. The neighbors that had a pop out must have heard it until 4am (when I realized it was on). The store is nice and big and nicely stocked. There is no place to eat in the resort so we ordered pizza. The staff was nice enough to share the menu. The pool was close and there were no activities for the kids since summer was over. My kid rode his bike when we were not at the park. Easy check in with plenty of staff. Nice game room. Wish they had an indoor waterpark like the lodge or gave us access as there was nothing to do in the fall if you stayed on site. At the last minute we decided to rent a cabin & Jennifer, the Registration Agent took good care of us once arrived...we were on hold for 25 minutes beforehand. She provided us with the layout of the grounds, the communal amenities & local stores nearby if needed. The next door General Store offers everything you need to ensure a fun & safe camping experiment, including fresh cut firewood, food, drinks & snacks galore. I even picked up a plastic stemless wine glass. The store also pays homage to Hershey World shelving all sorts of candy & accessories. Our cabin (choose basic or deluxe)has its own fire pit, extra secured entry door, a TV, DVD Player, Bar with 2 stools, 2 Twin & 1 Double Size Beds with protective covering. You have to provide your own linen. The communal Men's & Women's Restrooms provides individual showers & stalls with proactive measures in place to keep the restrooms highly cleaned. Trash removal is easy as you place your trash outside your cabin & the maintenance crew picks it up. There's two pools, Laundry Facility, Indoor Game Room, Basketball, Shuffleboard & Volleyball Courts, Horseshoepits & free WiFi. What to say about HersheyPark Camping Resort.... I'll just break it down into good and bad. First the good: - Location, location, location! - Shuttle to the park - Lots to do in the camp - pool, games, arcade - Great camp store - All kinds of other things to do in the area All the good was outweighed by the bad, though, in my mind: - The spots are really, really, really close together. This is the tightest campground I've ever been to. The spots are so close together that you may literally have people from the next campsite over sitting (and loudly talking) right outside your window. It's clear to me that the goal of this campground is to pack as many people in as possible. That's ok if you're going to spend a lot of time at the park. If you want to get away from it all, and relax a little, this may not be the best bet. read more

Great location to go to the park and the experience. We stayed in the Carrousel area and the fit was tight. We were in a middle row. The trailer in front of us had pulled in towards our site so we had no ability to use the small area. We will choose another site. We needed 30 feet of sewer line just so others are aware. We have a 50 foot hose for water. We could not set up the cable tv which was probably related to our RV. 25 feet of electric cord did the trick. Campground was very clean including bathrooms. Trash pick up each am, just leave it out. COVID precautions were good. Store contained camping supplies, gifts and sundries. WiFi was ok, we were removed every 30 minutes. Need to then rejoin. Meh, It's a busy campground. It served our purpose. We stayed 3 nights because my daughter had a tournament in the area. The first night we arrived was a late, after work arrival. The next day we had late games. The last night we finally were able to enjoy a fire but our fire ring was literally adjacent to our neighbor's driveway. Luckily they were in a tent. If they were in a camper, we wouldn't have been comfortable with a fire because it was so close to their site. Other than that, the showers were clean. read more

Hershey Campground is Terrible! Don't come here, they don't give you space for your tow vehicle so everyone has to park in another site or half in the roadway which makes it hard to get by with your camper. If the neighbors have a campfire they will catch your trailer on fire. The sewer hookups are 10 feet from the electrical pole; therefore when trying to pull into your site you have to try and not hit them. The sites are so bad that our front end is almost touching the ground. Glad I'm only staying 1 night. read more

Very disappointed. We were given a postage stamp pull thru. It was so crowded and small. Our sewage line didn't make it to the connector and it's quite long. To connect we'd have to back into the street. Our picnic table was next to the neighbors sewer. Their camper blocked out any chance of a view, so we ate while staring at the side of their camper. My poor dogs had nowhere to go. They had to stay inside. The noise was crazy. Dogs barking, trains and traffic...We did take a walk and found some really nice camp spots on the other side of the campground. We drove almost 5 hrs to get here. My family camped here for 4 days in August. We had a great time! The campground was in close proximity to Hersheypark. The shuttle ran about every 20 minutes. The drivers were entertaining. The office staff was polite, informative, and welcoming. The campground was well kept and clean. Two suggestions. Be sure to pack enough leveling blocks or extra wood blocks in case your site is uneven. Ours was on a crazy slope in the front of the site but the back was in front of the playful so there was a level grassy area to gather at. If your site is close to the playground area, you are near the train tracks. Although the train didn't bother my family, it rumbled down the tracks day and night. Lastly, if you like to fish the creek was a little difficult for smaller children to get to. There is no designated fishing area just some clearings between campsites. Great location to the Hershey Theme Parks and Downtown Hershey. The staff was friendly and helpful. Campsite trash pick up daily. Good size pool with a decent changing/shower room. They do have a shuttle stop, but it was not running due to COVID. We also noticed they had a propane refill station. There are some nice spacious sites, but the particular site we were in was a tight site with neighbors within arms length. Not all sites are level, you might need extra leveling blocks for your gravel site. Not too many channels on their cable hook up. Every site had a fire pit for those who fancy Hershey S'mores. Overall we had a good experience with them, and recommend their facilities. read more

We came here twice in the matter of one month! We stay in their cabins. The one bedroom cabin is nice for us a little too small. The second time we went we got the deluxe cabin and it has two bedrooms one with bunks and one with a large bed. There is a little kitchen along with a little sitting area and tv. The parking is great and it's right outside your cabin. You have your own porch, fire pit, and picnic table. You bring your own everything!!! Only one little complaint, the shower is VERY small and water leaks out of it a lot! The bathroom is also small. read more

The campground was awesome. We stayed in a cabin which was very clean upon our arrival. They are very close together which made it hard for privacy but you can deal with it. The bathrooms where always clean. The store seemed to be very cluttered when I went in and didn't get much customer service in terms of a greeting, ask if I needed help if reply when I said have a good day. The pool closes at 7pm, which is sad considering you pay such a large amount to stay there and you can't really use the pool if you plan on going to Hershey park or plan on going to the pool after dinner. Would I go back? Of course. You save money with parking at the park by taking their direct shuttle from the campground to the park, and the cleanliness was amazing! read more

The Positives - Great location. (5 minute drive to Hershey park) Clean cabin. Clean restrooms Clean showers. Security made periodic checks in and around our location. It was very quiet for a saturday night. It was early in the evening and you could hear the sound of crickets. I was expecting way more noise. radios blaring/drunks/people partying etc. The location of our cabin had a bit more privacy than the others. Trees blocked surrounding tents/Rv's. Playground. Pools. Arcade. The Negatives - The Location - This camping resort is located next to freight train tracks. They're in use 24-7 and each train came by literally every hour on the hour. Just when you began to finally doze off, the cabin would begin to shake and the sound of a freight train barreling through would wake you up in a panic. (No joke) They really seem to pack you in. Tents/RV's are all piled on top of each other... no privacy at all. Admittedly our cabin was a bit more tucked away as mentioned. The beds. Come on man, really ?? Metal springs + back = a trip to the chiropractor. If you're like me and stand more than 6ft be prepared to have your feet hanging over the edge. The mattresses are way to short. The Negatives aside, I along with my family had a really good time. Though, I don't see us returning here again it was definitely an experience. Btw - there are two types of Cabins. (Deluxe and Log) Some advice - if you're a family of 4 or more, pay more and get the deluxe Cabin. It's a pain in the ass having to leave your cabin and walking to the public showers/restrooms. Pay the extra ! Trust me. I'm leaning towards 2 stars(I've experienced better) but I have to leave 3... my family overall enjoyed ourselves here. We came here for the weekend with family and friends. The campsites are really really small. You will definitely get to know your neighbor. We came when the pool was closed still thinking it wasn't going to be that busy - wrong! Every single sit was booked. The camp store was adorable and well kept. There is a gas station in somewhat of walking distance. They have air conditioned shuttle to and from the park. They say it runs every 45 min but we barely waited 5 min there and back. Hershey's Camping Resort We rented a cabin for the first time for one night this past weekend. Check in was quick and painless and the staff was friendly. Parking is free and there is a free shuttle to and from Hershey Park. The camping resort is about 20 miles from Lancaster and features both cabins and camp sites (for tents) for the rustic type. We stayed in cabin 11 which was a "one bedroom" cabin but basically it was a one room cabin. This cabin furniture included a queen bed, twin bunks beds and a small desk. The cabin was also furnished with a small TV, microwave and refrigerator. Our cabin did not has a sink or bathroom, however the facilities were just a quick walk away. The restrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. The rental price was $189.00 per night which is a bit steep for such small quarters but we enjoyed ourselves. read more

My mom organized a Labor Day weekend camping trip and selected Hersheypark for sentimental reasons - she camped here as a teenager and had fond memories of time spent with her mother. What seems to have changed between now and then is the friggin freight train routes that are now conveniently located right outside your tent! No joke, our first night there were trains running every 20 minutes. We were camping with a seven-year old, a five-year old, a three-year old, and a one-year old in our group. Now, you can question the sanity of taking so many small children tent camping but imagine how ridiculous it was to try and sleep with all these kids and a gosh-darn FREIGHT TRAIN blowing its horn and barreling through your extremely thin and non-noise reducing tent walls!!! Second night, trains seemed to be spaced further apart. BUT STILL TRAINS. And to help fill the silence between trains there was the added noise of helicopters overhead. Nice touch, Milton! Beyond the trains and helicopters there is the problem of proximity to other campers. The place was jam-packed. It felt like trying to camp in Union Station during rush hour. I've been camping since I was literally too young to remember. This was easily the worst camping experience of my life. And I've had some rough ones. Torrential downpours, cold cold nights, extremely rude and noisy neighbors. But this place takes the cake. I'd like to run up in the owners bedroom with some pots and pans. read more

Our stay here wasn't too bad for our first trip to Hershey Park. We rented out a deluxe cabin for 5 adults, 2 kids and an infant. I like that there was a little playground area near our cabin but the pool area was a little further down. We would have to walk a little downhill to get to it. And if we was to walk back going uphill, could get pretty tiring. While it's nice that it had 3 different levels of pool there I'm a little disappointed that there aren't much umbrellas for shade because it can get crowed and pretty hot. The cabin alone was ok and clean. The room with the bunk beds was a tad bit to small for me luckily I brought my own air bed even though the sofa was a pullout bed. I just feel like the room is a little too cramp even with the storage bin underneath the beds. When I first walked in I was I kinda surprise at how small the tv was but its not so much of a big deal because we all had our electronics anyways. The bathroom also smell kinda funky when I first step in it but it died out after a while. At least the kitchen area has a full size fridge, microwave, and stove. Overall I don't mind it since we wasn't there much for the most part. It's a good thing that they had a shuttle bus to Hershey Park so you don't have to drive there and pay for parking. You can just leave your car near your cabin. They also have a little store next to where you check in so you can purchase souvenir and essentials. And if you haven't yet purchase your ticket for Hershey, you can get discounted tickets here. The staffs was also super friendly and helpful. It was a fun experience, so I wouldn't mind staying here again. Probably would look into different cabins though. read more

For us, the non-stop train activity outweighed the great location, great staff and amenities. We couldn't get a good nights sleep. Not only were the freight trains noisy, but the trains roar and vibrated as they came through. It was too much. We would have stayed longer if it wasn't for the trains. read more

Our group of 8 stayed at the Hersey Park Campground in August for 3 nights days and although we had some drawbacks we rolled with the punches and enjoyed ourselves. We brought a 37' coach and setup a 8' x 12' tent with 4 cots in it for the boys. We made reservations 3 months in advance for water and electric site and the cost varied from $80 to $120 per night (total $300). I guess I had forgotten that the sewer wasn't available when we made our reservation. Ugghh.. we had a choice of sites in the back area. Most sites were small and awkward. They either had a weird slope or tree taking space or something else making the site less desirable. We choose site #65 as it had extra path space behind it. We knew the train tracks were across the street but didn't know that the loud train passes at least hourly all night long. The bathrooms were clean and taken care of. We liked that there was a dishwashing sink next to the laundry room.. One thing that really bugged us was the pool closures. First off the pool closed at 6pm everyday. We were there with 6 kids and were expecting the pool to keep them busy till at least 8pm. We accepted paying over $100 a night to camp for two reasons: 1) it had a shuttle to Hersey park and 2) the three pools it boasted on it's website. When we arrived, only one pool was open and it was packed with people. Now we are pissed, it's hot, kids are whining, pool is full. Ugh.. Can I get a break? I let the front desk now and they sent me to Katelyn, Head Lifeguard. She was nice and informed me that they were understaffed. I then spoke with the manager, Heidi, and let her know how disappointing that the pool closes at 6 and that they have everyone packed in one pool. She mentioned that most of their summer staff was college students and they left for season. She offered us a 10% discount on the remaining day of our stay. Ugh.. tacky not the whole stay, just a day.. I thanked her and moved on.. We really loved the ability to take the shuttle to the park and Hersey world. Sites are short, trailers/ 5 ths would have to unhook. typical back in sites looks tight for more that a 24' TT. Check In was easy had reservation $59, high I thought with no amenities open. Bathrooms and laundry spotless. 24 Freight trains. Hardly hear them in the pull thrus. No horns ect. Just rumble. Some sites are backed right up to tracks. Reservation clerk let's us know about trains ahead of time. Open all yr. water is off later but have a frost proof hydrant to fill. Dump station. Fee if not registered. Awesome camp grounds. Glamping really. There are accessible showers and bathrooms that are pretty clean. There's a section for RV's, a section for tents, and various cabins you can rent. I've rented a cabin and done the tent thing. Cabin was cool. Little kitchenette, some chairs and a bench and a bunch of bunk beds, no bathroom. The camp is close to Hershey Park and there are shuttles regularly. There's also a little store where you can buy supplies. I think we got some stuff for s'mores. The cabin had a cool fire pit outside. I think we had a grill too or a grill grate to place over the fire pit. Our section of the camp grounds wasn't noticeably loud at night. I thought it was going to be a big party because I was at Hershey Park for Farm aid. It was chill though. Very convenient place to stay and have a little adventure. read more

I came here as part of the annual Girl Scout Camp-o-Ree. I am not one for roughing it, so I was extremely pleased with the camping experience I had here. We rented two cabins and they were beautiful. I was really expecting the bare basics, but was so pleased that there was so much more offered. The location is great. It's about a 4-5 minute drive from Hershey Park. There are plenty of signs to get you to the park and back, which is great for people who aren't locals. The site has accommodations for campers in tents, folks in RVs, and those who want cabins. It was great to see all of the variety in one place. Our cabins had a full kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave, sink) and bathroom. The living area had a sleeper sofa and even had a TV & DVD player. The room had two sets of bunk beds, and the bottom beds were full-sized and had large storage bins. Although we didn't spend much time exploring the campgrounds, we saw in passing a large pool and a lodge-looking building. Parking is located directly in front of/behind each cabin, which is so helpful when you're trudging things back and forth. I also found the staff to be incredibly helpful and friendly. We didn't need a lot of assistance, but it was clear from our interactions that the staff were more than willing to help. If you can't afford a hotel or aren't able to sleep in your car on the side of a highway, this would be an okay option. Positives: stellar bathrooms/showers, and the shuttle. Negatives: almost everything else. This campground is basically just a holding tank for people going to Hershey Park. The sites are TINY! You are crammed in next to other campers, we could hear our neighbors whispering in their tents and actually make out what they were saying. Our tent site was all gravel so we couldn't stake in our tent. But the worst part.... The TRAINS ARE AWFUL! You cannot imagine how loud the trains are until you are sleeping and they are continuously roaring through Hershey, Pennsylvania. ONE AFTER THE OTHER. You won't sleep. Just be aware. Sometimes the trains even play you a little song with the horns at 3 AM. Don't bother bringing a hammock or a clothing line- no place to the hang them. It's not really a place to go camping... really it's just a place of convenience for visiting Hershey Park. The trains woke everyone up in our group, multiple time per night, each night we stayed. We won't be staying again. But it is the most affordable option we found for staying near the park. If you plan on staying I highly recommend earplugs for bedtime and a sound machine. we are semi local to Hershey and have season passes. But decided to go camping and stayed at the Hersheypark Camping Resort. We just got home from 3 nights there and had a great time. There were some good and some bad with it. We rented a cabin (deluxe) with a kitchen and bathroom in it. We paid for a certain cabin but did not get that one. We ended up right by the train tracks (which runs 24/7)the cabin was nice the bedroom gets hot even though there is a fan vent but it doesn't bring the cool air back. So if you close the door it gets hot and stuffy. The beds, 3 twin and a full were not to bad a bit small but ok. The pull out cough not comfy at all. We tried this for the last night. Should have brought an air mattress along for on it. It was cooler in the livingroom. Our area outside was small fire ring was way to close to the cabin. Made me a bit nervous. But we were close to the pool and bath house and volleyball court. Pools were nice. Need a bit of tlc A bit cool but ok. Shuttle to Hershey is great. Overall looking forward to staying again! If you like camping and want to be close to everything this is a good place. There is a weis, McDonald's and Sheetz right down the road. Been coming here for years now with my family and it seems every year they do something to make it better this year i noticed they give wrist bands out to all guests and visitors great safety idea since anyone with out a band will be asked if they belong there specially since there are lots of kids running around. their faculties are clean and well maintained the communal bathrooms are as clean as they get there are plenty of activities for the kids to do from basketball to volleyball their large size pool has crystal clear water they also have a kiddie size pool which is great for the small kids. if you forgot to buy something they have a store on the grounds which sells your basics needs. we always stay at a tent site which is pretty big it can hold 2 car and enough space to pitch two 4person tents nice fire pit and table is a plus. you get free shuttle ride to and from the amusement park which saves you money for parking. cant wait for next season looking forward read more

The good: - Cleanliness: The grounds are very well kept and the staff is constantly riding around picking up trash. - Activities: Plenty to do with the pools, playground, arcade, outdoor movies; there's something for everyone here. - Free shuttle: A shuttle is provided to HP and you are given priority access to the park. The bad: - The train: There is a freight train that runs near the park that goes by ALOT. - Bugs: We weren't sure why, but there are a TON of bugs in this place. If you are prone to getting bit by mosquitoes, be prepared. - Noise: There is a quiet period after 11 PM; however the site next to us was packed with people, 9 kids and six adults. I think there should be a limit as to how many people are allowed to stay at each site. read more

Not the nicest campground we've ever been too but considering you will be at the park for a large park of your stay, it's not too bad. I would stay here again. The tent camping is way more private than the RV section. The cabins looked fun too and I booked another stay in September for my family of 7. Some of the camping sites only are located on the river and offered more privacy than the rest of the campground. They are also the furthest from the railroad tracks which we could still hear pretty frequently. I packed ear plugs and utilized them after tossing and turning. Bathrooms were very clean and the camp store was super cute. They even sold a "magical rainbow fire" pack which we bought and tried while there and enjoyed seeing the fire turn into a rainbow of colors. The kids were able to get their faces painted the first night we arrived and the artist did an amazing job! The shuttle ran very frequently, was air conditioned and drops you off right at the entrance the park. This was our first visit to this campground. Hershey recently purchased this and are making improvements. The sites are very close together, gravel with a fire ring and table. Tickets to Hersheypark can be bought here for a discount & include a shuttle bus w/AC to and from the park with some other perks included. Great location for visiting Hershey. Friendly staff, facilities were clean and the price was fair. I suspect Hersheypark will likely make further improvements and it will get better. We would camp here again for the location and discounted tickets. read more

People collecting trash walked at least 20 feet into our campsite and picked up a trash bag full of our dirty, wet laundry (it's rained on and off for the last two days). Management offered absolutely nothing to me except for a lost and found ticket and a "we'll search for it". In fact they keep telling us someone probably stole it, because you know, people steal black trash bags full of clothes but leave the iPhone sitting on the table. When I asked to be refunded for two nights, because we have no clothes to wear and are forced to go home, I was told I could get 15% back. So disappointed that I paid $259 to a campground to lose over $300 worth of clothes. Don't stay here, spring for a hotel instead. read more
