We had heard from people who should know better that this restaurant was easily as good as Topes down the road. It isn't. The decor is a mishmash of modern catalogue furniture and Tudorbethan barn. The waiting staff were busy chatting at the bar and playing the music (old late 90s chart pap) too loudly to really notice the three couples dining. The menu isn't classic French at all despite a couple of attempts at French vocab on the menu. One of the dishes - pate (one French dish does not a comprehensively French menu make) - came with a chilli-coated filo pastry sail that rendered my dining companion's tastebuds obsolete for the rest of the week, and the mains, while adequate, were worthy of 30-40% less of the bill. We didn't dare waste more money on pudding. It would be a joke if it was actually funny. On a par with Wetherspoons for quality, value, taste and service. And the decor and lack of deafening music are actually better at the local Wetherspoons. read more
